    Thanks. I bought a new axle assembly instead of removing and pressing a bearing and race and seal. I also bought a new e brake assembly. This is the first video showing how easy the assembly was to install.
    Cheers brother.

    Thanks, came here for clarification on the backing plate and how it comes off. I got it figured out now!

    I wish I would have purchased the dust covers with loaded parking brake assembly. I just did one side of a 2010 last night (ebrake rebuild) and it was one of the most frustrating mechanical things I've ever done to get the long springs on. There was a slight leak, but I'll save the seals for another day and just keep an eye on the fluid level.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the complete backing plate and ebrake components pre-assembled is the way to go for sure.

      @@PhillipBailey I am also tryingdo the parking brake module replacement, I have everything off, but I'm finding the new backing places are extremely TIGHT! It seems like I might need to tap them into place? Bad part? Axle tube not round anymore? Should I just use gobs of antiseize and tap lightly?

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarkRenouf remove any rust with sander or sand paper and use neverseize on the surface. Tap them in place. I've done a couple and didn't have a problem putting them on. Are they new OE parts?

    What do you mean by Teflon sealant. Is there a specific brand.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a liquid sealant comes in a squeeze tube. I use kleenflow brand but there are lots of others. Some come with a brush in a can often called pipe thread sealant.

    How did you reattach the Ebrake cable , would you mind showing that .

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember I hooked it to the lever and then mounted the backing plate assembly.

    Just replaced mine, and i'm still getting in and out movement on my axle with it assembled. also getting movement at 6-12 and 3-9 with wheel installed. not understanding this because i did the exact same sequence as you.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have end play the inner bearing cone may have spun and worn in the case. I'd take it apart and inspect the housing for signs of the race spinning. Technically you would need to replace tge housing but if you can measure the end play you might be able to put a shim in the housing to take up the end play.

    I believe my 2012 KK has the same if not similar process. Home DIY guy here, wondering if looking to replace just the backing plate does the bearing need to be replaced or can it be reassembled after replacing backing plate?
    Thankful for any insight in advance!

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว

      The bearing stays with the axle as does the seal and can be reinstalled as is if it is not worn or leaking.

    Do you need to pull anything in the diff or change the oil when pulling the axle?

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't need to do anything inside the differential except maybe check the oil quality and possibly top up the level when done.

  • @allancivitello3771

    what kind and why did you put the silicone around the seal ? i have never seen that done before! Please school me here?

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was actually Teflon pipe thread sealant. I always use it on the outside of the seal. Just adds a bit of extra insurance the seal is sealed to the housing.

    So you don’t have c clips on this differential you just pull them out . I guess the 4 bolts is the best retainer anyway. But wasn’t sure if you had to take differential cover off 👍🏻

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope no C locks so no need to remove differential cover.

      You can remove the diff cover to pry the axle out if it’s stuck.
      Or to inspect and clean, or to replace RTV, or even a new cover.

    i sent my axle shafts to an axle shop to press in new bearing and retainer. I reinstalled the axle and the right rear bearing was destroyed after 100 yards of driving. i dont know why.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe it was damaged during the pressing process or a defective bearing

    PB: What kind of anti-seize did you use? Never Seize. Is that a brand? How big is your Never Seize can? Do you use it when you could use copper anti-seize? Is it plastic-rubber safe? Can you post a link to this product? Thanks.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure I believe its Kleen Flow in a 4 inch can. I'll check when I'm back in the shop. I do use the copper stuff on sparkplugs and O2 sensors.

      I believe it calls for synthetic 75w90 but confirm with the parts supplier.

    Do you have any videos on how you clean off the wheel, hub using your tools? Disk grinder? air tool? wire brush? how to remove the rust? Suggestion: Videos actually showing the work as it is being done would be very helpful. Still shots are good, but nothing beats the actual videos as work is being done.
