Don`t worry about the braided line in heavy cover; if the docks you fish are in stained conditions or have heavy cover around them, you can get away with braid, but if it is not, I would suggest using fluorocarbon in clearer water conditions, e;g; 17-20 lb test.
Fishing docks can and has produced big bass for a lot of anglers over the years; if your looking for more of a numbers game, try some deeper weed edges and humps or shoals away from the bank.
Just recently tried dock fishing with a jig for the first time, 5 days in a row on my cottage lake. I was using a 1/4 ounce jig. I caught some decent sized fish, but not a whole lot. I fished the docks and everything i could see in between. Do you guys have any tips on how to catch the numbers of fish over the sizes? I prefer to catch 10 decent ones than 4 good ones.
I fb messaged your page but I guess you didn't get it when fishing docks with jigs what do you do to present to suspended fish holding tight under the dock?
Hey Karl I fish Haliburton region all the time as I live there. One question when I am fishing docks I have had multiple people come down from there houses screaming and yelling that I am trespassing and so on. Any tips on the best way to deal with this scenario?
Best way to do it is to kill them with kindness. When you see them coming down towards you give them a friendly "hello" or something. They have no control over where you fish on the lake and its not trespassing. As long as you're not being a huge douche and casting into their boat and getting hooks caught in their seats or something it shouldnt be an issue.
Patrick Good As long as you are not trespassing on private property or invade a persons privacy most waterways are open to anglers, boaters and swimmers
I always say, you live on a lake with docks, people will fish it, if they don't want people fishing there dock put a sign, please no fishing near docks, i can respect there wishes and move on .
i dont find it any fun to use such line. to me, its all about using ultra-lite rod and reel and 4-6lb test and seeing if i can land'em with skill and not just flinging them in the boat from 10 ft away. but whatev.
mroll1000 good luck with that, you won`t be fishing heavy cover with that set up. Its all about the hunt, catch and release, heavy cover is where I fish.
Both, for walleye and bass; usually more in Fall when the fish get really big!

Cool I have a cottage on lower and I go up every weekend hope to see u there
Swim jig or smaller, lighter jigs if I`m getting bit right away, that shows me the positioning of the fish and I change up accordingly

Ranger boats Kevin.
Haliburton Highlands region
Do you recommend pegging the weight or just completely slip free.
TiseParody depends on where I am fishing; heavy cover or dragging over sand or weed patches

What is the best color for game hogs in the winter
depends on water color and which colors give you more confidence
Which lures would you suggest for fishing in small creeks in the winter?
flip tubes, football finesse jigs and bitsy tubes by Strike King
Tubes,black trickworm jigs
what lake is this?
if I'm flipping and pitching a dock with no vegetation around can I get away with say 12 lb flouro?
Not my choice. 20 lb is lightest I go regardless or vegetation or cover around dock- big bass can wrap around poles and break you off
ok so dumb question but can I put 20 lb line on reel that gives 12 lb capacity?
He had a booger on his finger lol
