      I think there are one pipe systems that plumb the radiators in series, that's the only way I can make sense of what I've seen in countless videos from Russia. You've got a block of flats and the pipe goes from the basement into one radiator in the ground floor flat, out of the radiator and up to the first floor, etc.. If you turn off one rad, you kill all the other flats on that line. They still sometimes plumb it like that but when they replace rads, they add a bypass pipe with two valves.
      As a result, flats are always baking hot in winter and people open the windows to regulate the temperature, at least that's what I've read.

    Really enjoyed that at your expense Tom. You did an amazing job I’m sure you were flummoxed for a long time until you had your eureka moment when you know what the problem is. Am I right in saying then that the flow from the boiler went to one rad then out the lock shield to the other one instead of being teed off the main flow and returns individually. Thanks for making this video Tom much appreciated.

    Looks to me like the original installer was a DIYer and originally went for a totally unsuitable out of date one pipe system; then when it wouldn't work, incorporated the radiator into the main one pipe circuit.

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could well be right mate, it made me laugh they had used all tee's, and then just capped off the spare port, it probably would have been cheaper to get a plumber in with the cost of fittings

    Well done for persevering and what a great example of push fit pipe work being installed totally wrong. I see this time and time again, Speedfit used but not clipped. John Guest state clipping distances are 15mm Horizontal run 300mm Max! and Vertical 500mm. 22mm 500mm and 800mm. So many so called professionals do not install correctly.

      Thanks for the support mate, if I'm honest it all needed ripping out and replacing, like most jobs the customer just wants stuff working and aren't to bothered about what pipes look like if they can't be seen, as a plumber, it pains me to see plastic pipes lashed in

      Thanks for the support as always Josh, I tend to try and do the difficult jobs myself, I don't want to be accused of doing all the easy jobs, It's difficult trying to keep everyone happy, when I was an apprentice I used to get sent to all the stuff nobody else wanted, often they would be jobs where other people had been and just ordered parts, they were the hardest as often you were left to deal with everything, I do get some easier jobs but I tend not to film them.
