Bernard takes the mick out of everything, including himself, it was a different era, so different words. Another similar style comedian worth checking out is Roy Chubby Brown. A good one is 50 shades of grey as it’s not that long ago.

He doesn't mean it. It was a joke. It's how people used to laugh in he 1960s-70s. If you were the victim, the custom was that you laughed as well. I know it's not acceptable now, but it was then. If you didn't like it you walked out, but nobody did. Different days, that's all, but not a cauldron of creating hatred. People went home still thinking the same rational thoughts they always did. Black and Asian people laughed, because they knew what to expect. the jokes were too silly and stupid to mean anything.

I love the way you reacted. I as a white man was cringing but times were different back then. I know that is not an excuse but the culture was not as enlightened. But with that joke about coming second in a Robert Redford lookalike comp had he said a black guy won it it would have been okay. Surely?
