    A couple important corrections:
    1) The SR32 uses XHP50.3HI emitters, not XHP35HI.
    2) The original SR32 was sent by Nealsgadgets (not Imalent direct), who handled the warranty replacement.

    Excellent video. I really do appreciate how thorough you compared the 3. I honestly don't ever remember watching a "comparison" video before that answered all my questions and/or concerns. So again, excellent job. Normally I have to watch several videos to get the information that I seek on whatever product or thing I'm researching. I bought the MS18 about a year and a half ago and will be ordering the MS32 this evening although I was considering the SR32, but MS32 is gonna be the one. Thanks again, keep up the great work.

    Hello, thank you very much for your reviews, it’s always a pleasure to watch them! It would be great if you did a review and comparison of the Polarion PH50 (the brightest flashlight of the late 2000s) with modern flashlights, the most interesting thing is to hear your experienced opinion. I recently went a little crazy and was able to find and buy a Polarion. It's a very interesting experience, especially after all the LED lights I've had. Yes, 5200 lumens seems ridiculous now, but the shape of the beam and the quality of the light are something completely different. There is also a modern version of this flashlight, the PH50D.

    • @BackusCreativeImaging
      @BackusCreativeImaging 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@GhostTheAssassin I followed the advice in this video, I don't use the straps. I just carry it. I've driven a flatbed tractor trailer across the 48 states for over 10 years now. I'm not a felon, never arrested in my life, but us truckers don't have a 2nd amendment right in many jurisdictions. Ports search trucks, even pepper spray in the truck can ruin your life with the legal system in some areas. The flashlight is unregulated. I have this on my passenger seat, love it. I mainly use it for fun at the truck wash, to shine at the chrome while it's being washed. Hopefully it'll only ever be a novelty, but it can give an edge in a self defense situation. The Fenix LR35R is my EDC. This one is just more for fun. My spare battery should arrive soon, already shipped from Imalent. I love the light!

    • @GhostTheAssassin
      @GhostTheAssassin 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@BackusCreativeImaging I love your choice of use case, self defence is something I consider, but again I share the novelty fun purchase as a prime, despite also having got mine with some elements of my work as well.
      I’m debating with myself if I got the right flashlight in the end as I could have gone with the SR32, which is considerably less weight and still providing a wow factor in lumen output. I’m told though that because of the sheer amount of light output its glare actually stops you from seeing the full distance beyond 800m
      I’ll be likely using the strap for it, since I plan to take occasional walks at night with it. Still wondering if I made the right choice though haha
      Mine’s in transit, I’ll guess I’ll see when it arrives :)

    • @BackusCreativeImaging
      @BackusCreativeImaging 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @GhostTheAssassin At 13:55 be aware that the Imalent strap connector broke after heavy use. This is why I decided not to use it. I'd say to find a strap that is higher quality after you receive your light. The SR32 is practically as bright as the MS32 and peak beam intensity in candela is higher on the SR32 as well, I think. Both are great flashlights. Hopefully you'll get yours soon :)

    I have had the MS18 for some time and have taken it everywhere and have had zero issues with it. The build quality is up there with some of my best and just as expensive flashlights. Yes, there are more powerful flashlights available now, but I consider the MS18 overkill for my purposes. I have lit up a mountain or three and that's enough for me. This MS18 is well worth what I paid for it. This guy is way too pedantic, imho. Perhaps he can design the perfect flashlight so we can try it, then buy it?

    • @ethan-lumencraft-
      @ethan-lumencraft- 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If a light works for your uses, than that's all you can ask for. It's great that the MS18 has served you well. For me, it's been very finicky and at times, unresponsive, while the build quality is clearly much cheaper than these other lights. The beam quality is worse, and the performance is poor for the very high price point. But, I am spoiled with high-end lights, and it is literally my job to be pedantic in these reviews.

    Is the peak intensity of the first minute power supply limited or thermally limited? In time, do laser diode based sources have the ability to exceed these limits?

    • @ethan-lumencraft-
      @ethan-lumencraft- 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The drop seen during the first minute of runtime is caused by voltage sag from the battery, which is the limiting factor here. When reactivating the light on turbo, it will hit the same (or close to the same) peak again as the battery voltage is able to recover when the load is removed. This behaviour is seen in any electronic device pushing lithium-batteries to their limits.
      The drop from the turbo down to the sustained level is to prevent the light from overheating, so thermals are the limitation there.
      It remains to be seen where laser-based light sources go, they seem to result in dimmer but more intense beams. The max output it theoretically higher but I haven't seen any particularly bright LEPs in practice.

    I purchased and returned 2 Imalent flashlights 4 years ago. I did not like the build quality and the refinement of the electronics. Instead I bought an Acebeam T27 and a Fenix PD35 and they were so much more refined. I still have both of them. I've heard that Imalent is still lower quality and has odd design choices. My friend bought an Imalent EDC pocket flashlight and could hardly push the mode button because he has fat fingers and the flashlight had a mini inset button!

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I should add that I just bought an Acebeam TAC AA and while the physical build quality was great the electronic refinement was not. When using NIMH batteries the ultra low mode changes order so as you cycle the modes its dim, brighter, dim then high. Also the LED was flickering as the NIMH battery was about half way through a run time test. Seemed a certain voltage confused the driver and it needed to flicker for about 5 minutes before stabilizing and continuing the run down. With the14500 battery everything was fine. I am unimpressed for Acebeam and what I expect of their usual quality. I returned it. Going back to my beloved ProTac 1L 1AA dual fuel for pocket carry in the TAC style.

      Despite previously owning the MS18, which I felt was already beyond bulky and extremely heavy,
      I have decided to go with the MS32, even though I do agree with the OP that the SR32 is the more practical flashlight, it’s lighter, has a more stable beam and quality than the MS18, the beam colour temp is far more gentle, and is all in all a more useful EDC light. Even with it’s already massive size
      Though when given the choice the novelty of owning 200K in pure outrageous flood lighting makes for such a fun device, especially when exploring or out with friends.
      IMO the novelty never ran out on the MS18 and it was very hard to sell in the end.
      Anyone who looks after their MS32, SR32’s and doesn’t “stress test” them all the time will likely find they still work very in years to come, even if imalent invent some 500k thrower flashlight which forces the government to establish new legislation around them

    Unfortunately the lumen race has totally went insane. It's all about winning the competition on the paper, but is hardly useable in practise.
    The batterypack is big but the lights are still overpowered. Neither the battery capacity or heat dissipation is sufficient for real use at anything close to the stated output.
    The user interface is bad with Imalent as well. Too close space between the modes makes it difficult to be sure which mode is active. For persons with some OCD this sucks.

    Actually, this is not the brightest in the world. Chris Theil made a flashlight that is 501, 031 lumens, making it the brightest flashlight in the world.

    Is it a race to see the most obnoxious beam?
    Lets see the most powerful floodlight you can find at 96 CRI
    One with a steady maximum output level until the battery is dead
    One with adjustable Kevin Temp
    One that you cannot see the beam itself when pointed at the sky
    You know what I mean, the one that only light up the subject you wish to photograph
    The one that has buttery smooth (wall to wall) diffusion without hot spots
    Show me the maximum "SUSTAINED" output centered around 3500K with adjustable RED level to match the camera I'm using
    If you just want horrible CRI with 5 second blast on turbo, then keep doing what you are doing
    But some of us would prefer a better light source for actual daylight equivalent photography on a lightly clouded day to eliminate the hard shadows
    Funny how those lights are so hard to find in the reviews
    I mean........an actual light worth having!

    • @ethan-lumencraft-
      @ethan-lumencraft- 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you're missing the point, the goal is to have the brightest flashlight, plain and simple... I don't think CRI is relevant for this thing at all.
      If super-high-output high-CRI light is what you want, buy a video production light such as a high-power COB or an HMI, that fits the description you outlined. When those exist, it doesn't really make sense to design a flashlight for that kind of use.

      @@ethan-lumencraft- Thats YOUR goal
      I want a beutiful beam with buttery smooth diffusion from wall to wall at 96 CRI "MINIMUM" and as bright as can be around 3500 - 4000 Kelvin
      It's EASY to get the brightest light with a crappy beam at garbage CRI levels
      You should strive something better in your life
      You'd may find true happiness for once

      @@bullwinklemoose7232 ...I have the same goal as you, I prefer high-CRI and nice beams. That was not Imalent's goal, and it's not fair to measure this light against those metrics when there are plenty of lights that do what you want.

      Sun is about 1.6 billion nits (candela per square meter) so you need an LEP flashlight to even compete.
