    Nice one! I really like the painted on fuselage band. One really glaring error with this kit is the wing. They give you the wing out of their FW-190F8 kit. Totally wrong! The center of the wheel wells should not have the dimpled panels. That area should be open with the inline engine protruding into it.

    • @TheWaggishAmerican
      @TheWaggishAmerican  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I knew about the open part, but never heard about the dimple. Also, it's got incorrect ejection ports. It's a mess of a kit as far as accuracy goes. Definitely going to get the Eduard one, and do it up as a JV44 bird.

    I've read on a post on Britmodeller that the best way to deal with Tamiya decals is to use hot water, since the glue is what makes them thick.
    I also have four Hasegawa Fw 190s, and the landing gear on all of them is rather wobbly, so it maybe a design thing on every 1:48 and above Fw 190.

      I have heard and bought Gunze/Mr. Hobby Setter and Softener. Have long since forgotten where and when I had read that. Supposedly great for Academy's decals too.

    See people think Tamiya are great I honestly avoid them if I can especially for armour kits I normally build but with Dragin getting abit more rare nowadays sometimes you have no choice to go Tamiya! Fine for a base kit if your going to pile more money into it with metal barrels decals n extra PE that's normally the way my Tamiya kit's are lol maybe cheap but your just buying the problem's that come with cheap kits!
    My mate build there Mosquito he said it's god awful!

    • @TheWaggishAmerican
      @TheWaggishAmerican  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your buddy built the 48th scale one that that's not surprising, the molds are probably from the early 70's.
      Tamiya is really a crapshoot, and you have to look into the kits before you buy them. They continue to produce a LOT of kits that are run off of 70's molds, and sometimes they don't even adjust price to reflect that. (Jagdpanther / Stuart / this kit)
      But some of their newest stuff is great. They are a pretty solid intersection of price point and quality, and Tamiya USA has the best customer service people I have ever interacted with in any sector, short of MAYBE the Iwata guys.
      I wouldn't call them the 'leaders' or anything, though some of their 32nd scale is close; but at the price they are usually a win.
      I LOVE the really nice kits, but I simply can't afford them lol. I basically buy Tamiya because I can't afford Zoukei-Mura.
      Plus Tamiya has a great selection of *cheap* armor for projects like the one I'm putting together rn, that requires like a dozen vehicles and is kind of low-involvement / nonsensical / would be a waste so spend Dragon money on.

    • @Emtbtoday
      @Emtbtoday 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheWaggishAmerican see I spend alot on kit's a month I've actually just spent £400 on Dragon kit's and 2 Tamiya Famo's but they have all the Aber PE sets in them and the accessories kit for rhe spade like the bergepanther has on the back! Thqts the only reason and the other is the tank transporter! My friend owns the hobby shop next to my house so I'm I'm everyday really getting stuff, we go an email for an auction an old modeler had passed away and the wife was selling of his kit's so I bought a load of rare Dragon kit's and them 2 Famo's! But normally it's it's Rfm, Takom, meng etc I buy and I've started buying Amusing hobbys new stuff there really nice! I've bought there older Neubaufahrzeug kit it looks amazing and Dragon's newish stug ausf B that they brought out last year or something I've got over 100 kits in my stash anyway haha! It's getting like the damb shop here! I also bought that Toger model's IDF Nagmachon kit, I've never built a Tiger models kit but it looks really really nice!
      As for my aircraft I'm away to build I got the Airfix 1.48 stuka I'm away to start with! I've got hobby boss 1.35 storch and 1.35 IL2 they both look amazing detail and got the Hobbyboss TBM Avenger! I love that plane and want the Trumpeter Dauntless what he has in stock, but there there border 1.35 109G6 he has 2 in stock thinking of that because border are away to bring out the Stuka both G1/G2 you cam build from that kit that's a deffo be getting that! As for there new Lancaster though they want 700 bucks for it when comes out you know the moulds they bought from Wingnuts, I can't see anyone paying that for it tbh!
