Got the plant about 2 months ago...Couple of my leaves are curled and some have broken edges and some have tears and holes, and checked and no bugs ... i watered and but a little liquid fertilizer in the pot and also have sitting on a pebble tray in from the south window. I also have a grow light with it ( the white full spectrum..) am i doing something wrong?? 2. I have a branch that broke.. what should i do with that? Thanks for all your help!! 👍🥰
I’m sorry if I missed it, but do you have advice for when the stalks won’t stick upright and sort of droop? My birds of paradise is full of stalks with leaves that are bending down instead of up to the ceiling like what I see online
Hi is it normal for a new leaf to somehow break off? I had 2 new leaves that opened bright green and one just broke off no brown on it or damage .I’m a new birds of paradise plant owner. Can you advise please and Thank you

Hi Nicole, I am facing a very different problem with my BOP. There was a new leaf is trying to grow from middle but the leaf had become entirely black and now it has stopped growing in the middle for about more than 4-5 weeks.

Normally I take my plants to the shower or sink to water them, but this one is too big, so do you just poor water on spot and how much? I'm thinking about the water that will drain! I haven't been able to find a video showing how to water haha Thank you so much!
I found out the hard way that you couldn't propagate the leaves. When the leaf I cut came back it didn't unfurl but split so now I know what to do. Thanks!
What about how do you get rid of mealy bugs? I put mine outside and have been fighting them for months with alcohol and systemic insecticide. They keep getting them indoors and I keep swabbing and spraying them with alcohol.
I have a bird of paradise, the smaller type....the orange bop, for 6 years outdoors in Florida and it still haven't bloom... and I saw the mother plant today on another property I own and it is blooming like crazy.... so mad

I have had this bird of paradise for around 3 years and it has been re potted, each winter it flowers but the first year there was 15 flowers then the second 10 flowers and then this year only 7 and im getting worried about it, it has also been moved when potted from a very light greenhouse area to just a single window. i use a super feed and clean and spay leaves all the time. what can i do to encourage it or help it as i feel it may be slipping away... its around 30 years old and is around 7ft tall

I have a white bird of paradise seedling that has been tiny for at least 4 months. I have it under a grow light near a humidifier. How fast does this grow for you?
I have not successfully gotten my BOP to flower indoor yet, especially I have a white BOP (it is easier to get orange BOP to flower). From my experience with other blooming tropical plants, if the flower dry out or drop, usually it is because it does not get enough lighting. BOP might be different but I don't know. Sorry I wish I could be more helpful.

I've had these for years...20 plus. I have never seen a flower.

Might need a little bit more time. Try to give it some fertilizer during growing seasons.

I'm not Nicole, but yes....cut them off, they're unsightly, and they won't recover and get greener.

My BoP started to lean so I looked at the roots
they were only 4 inches long plant is almost 1/ yr old
But 3/ft tall w/5 leafs

It depends on how big your pot is. I usually water mine when the soil meter needle is on the dryer side

It unfurled about 3-4 leaves for me this summer. Hope it helps.
I want some help noone has been able to help me!!! Ive got a BOP that has bloomed but the flowers open and within that day they dry out!
