    Dear Wang very informative video. just few queries: Usually we will create "infinite elements" at boundaries to arrest reflection of seismic waves from boundary, in your video I did not com across the creation of infinite element, please correct if I am wrong

      thanks. I agree with you. What I did in this video is just a very simple tutorial on SSI, it's more focused on how to use ABAQUS rather than how to accurately simulate SSI effects. The boundary conditions of the soil in my video is just like a laminar box which is not the perfect one. But the reflected wave wouldn't impact the structural response much if you have a large enough soil domain.
      No doubt that it's better to use absorbing boundaries, such as perfect matched layer, to avoid wave reflections. Also, you can try domain-reduction approach.

    Why you used mpc if soil property was assumed to be uniform initially while defining property of soil? I mean soil should behave identically in all layers, should n't it?
