And a massive thanks to all friends, followers and sponsors! You are all awesome!
Martin Pickering
Honestly you are the BEST in the RC industry as on youtube. Keep up the good work! I hope you get rich!
Thanks for posting this!
No problem!
Excellent tutorial - would save me hours- no days! - if I'm going to install it. Thank you very much!
Many thanks Martin !!! great video
Can I put this in an installation with a powerbox professional, if so where? Many thanks for a great video😊
Oops just finished watching the video😊
Thanks! Profesional would be best between receiver and Powerbox, that way all servos go through the Profesional
Your radio transmitter is very cool 😎
QUESTION: Can you use a Rx that has built in stabilization with the iGyro 3Xtra? Unable to find anything anywhere on this.
Martin, your videos are as great as your flying. Thanks for all the great info!
Did you ever get a definitive answer to your question? I have mine set up with the iGyro3 extra, and my reciever has a gyro as well. I figured as long as the iGyro3 gain position is set at zero, the reciever gyro switch on, I should be okay.
Just bought one of these and am trying to better understand the installation. Everything is clear except for how to set up the gain channel. I'm my case it will be to a rotary knob and I would also like to set the gyro to a switch to allow for different settings and even off if I want. It's not really clear how to use the rotary knob, I have a Spektrum Transmitter and need help. Thanks! Great video.
Hi Wesley, you can simplify the understanding to the following: "all gain control is via a single patch lead". So basically, you can have a slider, a switch, or both, but always acting upon a single channel, the one that the patch lead is connected to....
Whenever that channel is at its center (0), the gyro will be off
Whenever the further away from center, the more gain
If you use a slider AND a switch, you basically just want the switch to override the slider in one position and force the channel to go to center; and with the switch in the other position, the slider can control the channel freely
Hope that makes sense!
Hi Martin. Great video. I'm 2 yrs late but better late then never.
I hv setup the 3extra and gain on a knob. When I turn my knob to the left it all lights my green but to the right some lights (I think 2 lights) remain red. So, which is normal gain and which is heading hold?
Secondly, if I have not yet set up my end points, I would have to go do only the setup part for the 3extra shown in your video instead of the whole process from start correct?
Lastly, I haven't flown my plane yet. So wen I do my maiden fly and get my plane trimmed, then I can test my gyro.
Once trim is set n I land, do I keed to relearn the setup again to get the gyro to learn the trim?
Thanks in advance.
so once the gain is set does that mean the more gain the more stabilisation it will have? what i mean is it will act as a stabiliser with more gain input and les with out it
Stabilizer usually involves returning the model to straight and level. That is not what this does.
The gyro self corrects wind, so the plane is basically unaffected by wind.
The more gain, the more control the gyro has and it can compensate against more and more wind.
Too much gain though and it overcompensates. Not enough and it still works better than no gyro at all but it could be helping even more
Very good vidio👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'm about to order one on tower Hobbies. I'm confused. This gyro can be mounted anywhere? Doesn't have to be on the CG?. That's insane! I guess I've been out of the gyro game for a long time. This thing sounds amazing.!
Hi Brian, correct, anywhere will work! Have fun, you will love it!
Only gyros that also use accelerometers need to be centered on the CG.
Gyros that don't have self-leveling functions typically don't use accelerometers, so position with respect to CG is pretty much irrelevant.
Alignment is not, though. You want them to be flat and orthogonal (90º) to plane's axis. ;)
I love this video Martin! I just recently bought a sim to get more practice in for 3D flying.
Ps: I see a very very very tempting looking DLG behind you....
Nice! The DLG is a load of fun, but I really need to work on my throw! lol
Thanks for the info 🔥👍 Just got back into flying RCs so Lord knows I need all the help I can get lol ✌️
Do the servos need to be digital in order to be compatible with this Gyro ?? OR in another way of putting the question, will this Gyro work with Analog Servos ?? TY !!
This gyro simply goes in between your receiver and servo, so yes, it works with any servo
Is it possible to set it back to factory settings without a USB adapter?
If you start the programming again from the first step (detect orientation) I seem to remember that this starts everything from fresh
Please do a garage tour or where all your rc aircrafts are
Is this gyro compatible with other radio systems (like Spektrum), or will this gyro only work with Powerbox systems?
This one works with any brand of radio, receiver and servos
@MartinPickering-PickeringRC awesome! Thanks Martin. 👍🏻
thank you lot's
Martin will my rccskj power board work with this gyro?
If it connects to servos, you can slot this in between yes
With this work on Spektrum power box reciever s ?
Yes
Consegui mi mandar um para o Brasil ???
Hi Martin- any difference between this and the igyro satellite operationally?
No, as far as I am aware its the same sensor
What is your opinion about gyros can affect your flying skills in a negative way? Do you loose your skills for flying 100% manual in strongs winds?
I feel that they don't, after all, you still "fight" in strong wind (otherwise you would need huge amounts of gain which is unviable), it kind of just evens out some of the bumps and it will do that much faster than a human can...
@@MartinPickering-PickeringRC Thanks👍🏻 Sounds good. Just hate the additional weight on a small plane.
Hi Martin, can i use two channels for aileron and two channels for elevator on the gyro.
Hi Martin,
Sorry to bother you, a have read de docs and there are two channels for aileron and elevator. Nice video thanks.
Thanks! And yes, you can
What is this radio?
Please do a video of a garage tour please
do i RELY have to all this? can´t i just use the USB to setup my Gyro with the PC or the Smartphone App?
Yes, use Usb no problem, this is just an option for anyone who doesnt have or want to buy the Usb adapter
@@MartinPickering-PickeringRC hmm i cannot use the App for direction setup at all. all i can use the app for is to "edit" gyro setting regardig "gain" or behaviour.
it was a pain to get the Gyro to work properly due to it being RELY sensitive to inputs and some times not sensitive at all on inputs during the setup regarding direction and servo outputs, after 2 hours i could get the control surface´s to act in the correct way.
i rather put in the info my self than lifting the plane here and there and getting gray hair on why the gyro act´s in reverse mode.. :)
well well i hope i remember the setup now, at last it works :)
I have an old A3 3axis gyro fitted on my foam plane, I want to try out on my 30cc Gas 3D plane. What will be your opinion ? Will it function properly as Gas plane vibrate so much ?
I only every used the Powerbox gyros, but these ones I have used with Gas engines and had no issues. Make sure it is securely fixed inside the model (strong double sided tape) and should be ok
@@MartinPickering-PickeringRC Thanks 👍
If this "Gyro" is so easy to install and "set up", why so we need a 20 mins + video? Some examples of showing an airplane flying with the various settings, "gain", "heading hold", etc would be a much better explanation. And what is "heading Hold" and why would we want to use it?
I would suggest watching the video and you will answer your own questions, its easy but also has a lot of handy features that get explained. Watch the other quick start video I made if you want just the basics, that one might fit in your attention span easier lol

@@caminomanair1830 no, thats a glider, no motor at all. Only power comes from how hard you can throw it!
