- The closed shell stitch is a really easy stitch to do as you only use sc and dc. It is also just a 2 row repeat😊.
The pattern is worked in multiples of 6 + 4 + 1
If you omit the first row of sc then you would work the pattern in multiples of 6 + 4 + 3 as you would start with 2dc in the 4th ch from your hook to create your 1st half shell.
In the tutorial I am using Caron Simply Soft 4 Medium and a 5mm hook although for the larger swatch I used a 6mm hook. Hope you all enjoy😊
Your tutorials with borders are excellent and much appreciated 👍. Please teach us more beautiful stitches with suggested borders. Thank you.

Just when I thought I couldn't find any more basic shell patterns that I love, you come along with this beautiful pattern that's just a little bit different from all the others I have. And it's better! The edges are straight and don't sag, and I love starting with a row of single crochets. Most shell patterns that I have don't do this, and I really like it. Thank-you so much for getting me excited about a basic solid shell stitch again. :)
