The exact same issue I was facing. Your method of re-forming the plastic switch worked perfect. Thankyou. It's my original 20" ego. Rarely does a product exceed expectations. I'd say the only issues with my generation is almost all plastic and some plastic can wear. I see newer models have updated parts I've had wear out, so the company is on top of it.
My EGO 2000 suddenly stopped working 3 months out of warranty. Customer service was very nice, but all they could do was send me the part if I thought I could fix it. After watching your video (the only one I could find on-line that took the handle and safety lever apart), I saw that it was just that the spring had come off. Managed to get it back together and seems to work fine. The only thing you might have added is that the straight end of the movable bar fits atop the stationary spring to hold it in place. I was trying to find out what that spring was for!.. Thanks so much for the great video.
Much appreciate this video. While I have already checked out the top handle area, (actually there are two springs up top), that is not my problem with my mower not starting, am thinking my issue is one of the lower safety switches. Love this mower, and I am not ready to buy a new one just yet. Again much appreciate this video.
Good job on showing us how you figured out the problem buy opening the blade engagement mechanism and showing the placement of the and only switch in the handle area. That is a neat idea to put the lock out mechanism in the hot water to straighten it out. This probably will help me someday as I purchased the same Model LM2000 in 2013. So far not one problem with mine. I am still using the original 4 ah battery that came with it. Are you using a 4 a ah battery or a 5 amp battery to run the LM2000? Again great job.
Wish mine was a switch problem. The motor moved ever so slightly just enough to show there is power. I lost count on how many screws need to come out to get the cover off. 1st check will be the brushes.. Investigating...
I wonder if it's possible to buy that part, if necessary? I bought a used EGO, and about every ten starts, the blades do not engage, so my switch may be going bad too.
Several other TH-cam videos made long before this one discuss this problem and show the fix - and those videos are much shorter to boot! This is a classic case of 5 minutes of information delivered in a painfully long 30 minutes.
This video was not an "after the fact, this is how I fixed my issue", this showed from start to finish how I trouble shot my issue without any other knowledge, and I just brought whoever wanted to watch for the ride with me. If this is not your style of video, feel free to use those other videos you mention as they are more direct and to the point. This is about the troubleshooting journey.
Wow .... What a well made piece of Crap ....!!! You might as well Hot Wire the whole mower when you buy it new .... No relays, no switches , just a shitload of wire nuts and electrical tape .... Turn it on and off by taking the battery in and out ... It's a real bitch when it's moving, but it will always go . 😅😂🤣😡😡😡

Thanks. It was great to watch you troubleshoot. Fingers crossed for the dead LM2000 in my garage.
Thanks so much! I think this will fix my problem! I like the way you showed your thought process.

could you make a video re-assemble the bail handle with self propelled handle. LM2100SP? TIA
Keep up the great work
On the newer models, the green button does not come off the handle. Thanks!

It is easier to work on the handle if you pull the handle all the way over so you are looking down on it.

Just bought a 2022 model. I hope I didn't buy a headache and an electronic piece of crap. I thought these was supposed to be one of the best.
The background noise is terrible
