    I have the Arges spotlight on my patrol vehicle. It’s very bright and works great. No issues at all so far, and I’ve had it for over a year. Takes a little time to get use to the remote control part inside vehicle. Sometimes I miss the regular spotlight as its a little easier to control. But overall….so far not a bad product.

      One our local PD’s has one on his Tahoe and he the officers let me try and I didn’t like it. You barely touch the control knob and it’s way to touchy. If my new patrol has one I probably won’t use it.

      @@jmc2398 Not an officer myself, but I used one the other day and I felt the same way. A way to adjust sensitivity seems like a no brainer here. I can imagine being on a traffic stop and reaching down to adjust the spotlight and flailing the thing all over the place.

      As a cop car enthusiast. There are so many better options than this spotlight,
      Price wise and looks. If u want an under 100 dollar spotlight like that will light up the whole night go and pick an amazon magnet base cigarette port light. They are so much better. And they are upwards of 5000 lumens than this whelen arges which is only 1800 lumens 🤡 but if u want a cop car look. Get the original spotlights that drill into the side panel of your car. They are still brighter than the new overpriced arges u just saw in the video. 😂 Hope this helps

    Took a leap of faith and bought one. Controller and light power up but light won’t do what the controller tells it to. Also, there’s about a 1/4” of slop on the vertical movement. So on a bumpy road that things gonna bounce. There’s a little less slop in the rotation gear but still has some. For $700 I am NOT impressed. Should’ve gone with a unity...

    Always paint the cut edge when you install theses. Then put silicone grease on all surfaces mating with bracket. No rust. Also use grommet on wire hole

    Our department is no longer purchasing these thank god! Ford will still put factory unity spotlights on and has no effect on airbags. whelen just trying to get you to buy their new toys. The core system also has a bunch of bugs which we decided to go back to carbride system. The argis controller was way too sensitive/responsive, controller mounted in location where officer has to use shooting hand to control it. we tried it and pass!

    • @jav_eee
      @jav_eee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Controller mounting sounds like a poorly planned install.

      I have this on my patrol vehicle and I don’t mind it. I do know what you mean by sensitivity though. Just a little tap on the control stick moves it a lot. Ive been using this for over a year now, and overall Ive been okay with it. Does take a lot of time to get use to it though. Sometimes I do miss the simplicity of the regular old spotlights.

    Great Light, especially for intersection clearing but I do agree that I would not want to drill so many holes in an expensive SUV police vehicle. Maybe the mounting base should be redesigned for less attachment screws. Overall, excellent light with great functionality.

    • @Carterthielftw_
      @Carterthielftw_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It honestly does not matter. The service vehicle will be in service for likely about 200k miles and 5+ years. A few patchable holes in the quarter panel won't hurt.

    • @zunrue1
      @zunrue1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would a police department care about making a hole for a utilitarian purpose?

    • @hvymtal8566
      @hvymtal8566 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Consider that A: fenders are not that hard to replace, and B a traditional spotlight has to be drilled clean through the A pillar, which can't be replaced and is now a safety structure with a hole through it
      I'll take the fender

    • @therookieveteran8286
      @therookieveteran8286 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How many fenders do you think that patrol vehicle is going to use, especially if the department is active and/or chases/PIT's? They already put holes in the roofs for antennas, drilled through the A pillar before...

    This product is stupid. Should have stuck with Unity Spotlights as they have worked fine for 20+ years. Ford shouldnt have put curtain airbags in a police car anyways. Another dumb toy that only people who don't work in field buy/sell to command staff. How much will it cost when motor goes out or it freezes and breaks??? Not to mention re-sale value of vehicle when that dumb thing is taken off. They ruined our 2020 Police vehicles with this stupid thing. Finally the light output sucks! super small concentrated circle ray of light.
