To get the fruit to spawn you need to WALK around in the Orchard for a while first. I've lived on this fruit many times even though it is low grade food. Cooking before eating gives it more calories. Watch the cooking process and don't let your food burn.

Great video mate! I enjoy playing (badly) and making content on dayz and it's refreshing to see someone put their own spin on it. Keep up the good work 👏
It's funny, that improvised pack? I learned how to make that in real life about 20 someone years ago. Long story short, I was a nomad for about 30 years. And unlike a lot of my peers who are getting high and doing stupid crap, I was learning what I called old tech. Actual Flint and steel for campfires, making a rucksack out of three sticks and some rope and whatever the hell else I felt like, which eventually segued into learning, how to make my own shoes, etc Got to admit, it's the large part of the reason why I was inspired to play this game in the first place. Ironically, I have yet to actually experience those skills in the game but..
A knife is all you need. Cut the rags. Make rag gloves and mask. Kill chicken. Cut chicken. Make fire. Make fire starter. Make pointy stick!. Cook chicken. All with one knife.
@Nitno I don't even mess with chickens, too much work for hardly any food lol. Loot loot loot kill zombies loot. So easy to find food if you just look
I remember the early playthroughs of me getting into an area and swiftly dying before I could even eat the starting food lol Nowadays I can make a character last far longer. Longest I’ve had a character was about a week. But usually what gets me is when the game bugs/lags causing something stupid to happen…which far more deadly than the infected and the Chad Chaddingtons lol
Thanks for the fantastic and very educational video. As I said to a commenter below that rage quit...I think of DayZ as a game that does not cater to the entitled player. They have to learn to play it the hard way just like the unentitled. HOW TO videos, available to those who wish to learn from experienced players, can be counted as blessings.
Why gear up? Why leave the coast? I have made a nice little life here....and do not worry about being Murdered....by the gear heads. The Ocean provides...leave it....and die. Most people run inland...I run to the coast....the literal waves breaking coast. The only headache is running into town for clothes. The trees give me warmth, the stone knives, the Sea food....Water...yeah, that comes with clothing runs....but honestly, you can travel the length of the DayZ coast comfortably....and learn a thing or two.
This one comment utterly changed my game play. Was already inland, but as a noob, was struggling. Went back out to the coast, near Komarova - everything is central there, water, police station, an industrial area. Never saw a single player, and once I had a chest full of tools and gear, I found my way to the island Storozh - there are plank supplies on the far side, and away from all prying eyes on the mainland, and you have zombies up on the ridges above and behind you to alert you. Thank you!!! Fishing, cooking, exploring the island.
Nice video. I have a video idea after watching your channel and a bit of your stream : a video on protocols on interacting with other players. Topics can include; how to befriend other players, staying organized in groups, helping each other with food/water, engaging other players as a group, etc
My dayz experience so far: spawned, met some guy, gave him an apple(in hopes to team up), he started fighting the infected and got killed. I followed the traintracks for a bit, killed an infected. Than I got shot when I entered a shop. Next one, I teamed up with someone, he felt and broke a leg, I gathered the sticks and rags to fix the guy. Than we found a police station and started shooting and setting off smoke gernades. Walked a bit futher, got ambushed and killed by a group of assholes with guns :( Died alot by either the infected or cold or starving. I suck at this game lol
@@Nitno perhaps an Introductory level to play when you first start playing may help them, becoz you do get thrown in at the deep end 😄, 1.21 update may help them a little more🤞.

Honestly don’t know where I’ve been for the last 10 years.. but recently all I’ve been doing is watching DayZ videos… this game is just simply incredible…I’m gonna try the vanilla version first on console to get the hang of the servers & the game.. however from lots & lots of research I can safely say that the modded servers on PC are FAR better than vanilla dayZ… I didn’t understand a lot of how it differs between PC & console at first but on console there is no black market trader / market trader unless a player decides to manually turn a building into a trader base..& the base building tools on console are extremely limited in comparison to the PC servers.. you can’t build tree house bases etc on console.. only PC.. I’m writing all this because I found this info very hard to extract from the internet.. so to all new players like me that wasn’t or still is not sure what platform to go with or you’re under the assumption it’s all the same.. hopefully I’ve cleared some things up for you. Can’t wait to start my dayZ adventure. No seriously. 😂
Good luck out there! When you get on PC I'd recommend getting there basics down on official and vanilla servers. Heavily modded trader servers can be fun, but it's a very different vibe from vanilla days. I'd recommend Day one or Zero for no trader no bases. I'd recommend KarmaKrew and Northmen for bases servers.
I have learned that a police station is bound to have a bk 133 or a mlock19 as the mlock19 is rare and the bk 133 is mostly found on the first floor opposite the cell
as a nolife fatass with 3k hours on this game i personally quit and uninstalled dayz 12 times before getting the hang of it. Don't give up if you're new i wanna see more people on dayz luv ya
I'm a new player ( about 15 new spawns in). Very helpfull guide. But like in real life the biggest problem I face it's other peoples. I have spawned the most near Berezino?? The Police station there is a death trap, always locked down by some one with a gun, also people will kill you for nothing; second problem I face it's finding a bladed weapon/tool and the water pumps. Also knucle dusters are awesome.
Easy solution. Go to the community tab and find a lower population community server. That's the best way to get in and learn the game without having to worry so much about griefers.
Some will say it is cheating, but you can use iZurvive interactive map to identify where everything is and get familiar with the locations of key points like PDs, Medical, and wells. If you want to be more purist, don't use it while in-game. There are fairly well establish "loot routes" that you can either look up or develop on your own depending on where you start. Once you have two or three in your hip pocket (hell even write them down on a sheet of paper like a script you can follow), getting from fresh spawn to squared away and ready to adventure becomes much easier. Also, pick empty or low-population servers. Fewer campers and freshie snipers, and more loot available.
Thank you for the content you share, it is very helpful, I play on regular NY servers and one thing that can be very frustrating, is to be a couple days going and get 15 minutes into a game and have a good start and the server restart and when one NY seever restarts it seems like the other NY severs follows, is this something that all servers do is restart after so many hours or is there different ones that dont?
Yep most server's restart on a set timer. I think the way DayZ Server's work, is that they will start to lag if they are not restarted every once and a while. I am not sure how often official dayz servers restart, but that's the reason they do. Most community servers will have a discord with the reset timers posted in their discord.
Finding food and whatnot used to be frustrating, now its just having gear and being a target thats frustrating. I used to try and talk, but now if i see another player i just run away or start shooting if they're too close to run
Try playing on a lower population community server. That's what I do. Very rarely do I encounter other players. When I feel like PVP I get on high pop official server. I also only play on vanilla based servers.
I almost solely play on official, I did find one in community called "1000x" that's fun, and a few friends of mine just got their own server. But official servers, and the stress that goes with them, are still the most fun for me
Do you have any tips on avoiding the infected early game? *All* of my looting runs have been cut short before they even start because I'd either get spotted or would be unable to get closer to any buildings in an attempt to avoid the aforementioned...
Sneaking helps, you make less sound crouch walking. Try to create situations where you can single out one infected at a time. Also you can go inside, close the door behind you, and punch zeds through a window if you really need to.
Always crouch. Without crouching your like a beacon of sound to zombies. Have something sharp, like a knife, and if you sneak up behind them you can swing and you’ll do a stealth kill, which is both silent and an insta kill. Fun fact: Sprint crouching is just as loud as normal crouching, so utilize it. Crouching without sprinting is mad slow and you can easily clear out areas of zeds by just sprint crouching.
I’ve subscribe cause your steps have just made me survive a whole day thank you I’ve seen many vids on here but yours is so well put together, hopefully one day I’ll be a good survivor just like you. 😃🙏
Genuinely, if they just gave you a map the game would be so much better. It’s ridiculous that using an outside app is the standard if you want to know where the hell to go. Besides, it’s not like the in game map trivialises navigation lol
it took me about 200 hours to learn how to play. still in the starter zone. want to improve that. i spend too much time looking for canned food and forget about hunting. punching chickens is best and quickest.
@2:29, what exactly are the button presses to stab a zombie from behind? I always end up just slashing them! Can you please explain this in detail Nitno? Thanks in advance man!
Sure so from crouch walk, Stand up by releasing keys, Hold Right Click to Raise Hands, The Left Click. The key is that the zombies cannot be in a state of awareness... if you hear them sort of "grunt" and search around, it will not work. You have to be quick with it.
Are wooden fishing hooks new or is there a super con to using them? I have been using them because they are a little easier to find but i do notice the fish i catch arent as high quality as when i fish with a lure. Dunno if that is why or what
My tip. Do jot join a vanilla server. It does not matter if the server just went through a wipe. You will play for 3-4 hours and find maybe 2-3 items. Vanilla servers are TRASH unless you are a streamer getting paid to “magically come across a tundra” lol
It is MUCH easier to get the hang of the game on low pop servers, 0-15 players. Much more loot, less players to dome you the moment you leave a spawn town etc.
As always, Top Level guide/assistance video! My ONLY issue (and this is just the jerk grammarian in me, lol) is when you pronounce 'especially' as 'ekspecially' or something similar. Drives me nuts!😉😛) Keep up the fantastic work!
Watched so many tutorials and still can't even come close to getting out of the spawn town. starve to death, freeze to death, bleed to death, get sick, get killed by zombies, over and over and over. No food no weapons no water no clothes, cant find a damn thing😂
Literally never goes this way!! Every house is looted already Spawn in the middle of nowhere like the woods during a rainstorm 8/10 times but thanks tho
The easiest thing to do is just choke down that fruit you spawn with and head inland. If new players just did that and sprinted for the nearest town not on the coast this game would be received much, much better
We want you guys to come to A1 Survive Land Of the Dead community server we need some real competition pull up to the prison n show us what you got tired of running people off the server so if you think you got what it takes bring everything you got - THE REAPERS OF SORROW
Every guide i see says sth like "yeah just go look around for a bit, find some cans or fruit, get a knife and a screwdriver" like bro, all 3 cities near every spawn are completely dry. And i cant search the 4th city, because ill be dead before i get there.
Need to have a sharp edge like a knife (not axe) and crouch walk behind them, then stand up, and attack. They zed cannot be agroed or in the "searching" motion, they have to be completely unaware of your presence.
Not hating but thumbnail looks like freshie to freshie with a underwear gun lol. Thank you for all your videos even with 8000k hours I watch religiously.

To get the fruit to spawn you need to WALK around in the Orchard for a while first. I've lived on this fruit many times even though it is low grade food. Cooking before eating gives it more calories. Watch the cooking process and don't let your food burn.
@@edmartin875 I'm going to try that, I've yet to kill or cook anything, and haven't fished at all.
The amount of “beginner tutorials” I’ve seen and this is the first one I’ve seen that mentioned the makeshift backpack and chickens 🤦🏻 thanks for finally something helpful

The first lesson in DayZ is not gathering Loot...it is surviving by crafting your own loot.
Great video mate! I enjoy playing (badly) and making content on dayz and it's refreshing to see someone put their own spin on it. Keep up the good work 👏
Much appreciated! Good luck out there!
@Nitno you too brother! 👊
It's funny, that improvised pack? I learned how to make that in real life about 20 someone years ago.
Long story short, I was a nomad for about 30 years. And unlike a lot of my peers who are getting high and doing stupid crap, I was learning what I called old tech. Actual Flint and steel for campfires, making a rucksack out of three sticks and some rope and whatever the hell else I felt like, which eventually segued into learning, how to make my own shoes, etc
Got to admit, it's the large part of the reason why I was inspired to play this game in the first place. Ironically, I have yet to actually experience those skills in the game but..
Thanks for the story! Good luck out there in DayZ!
This is verry helpfull for a friend. Its hard to explain all this without a video, thank you.
Anytime! Glad I could help!!!
New sub here im on console but your intro videos are a great help and im getting better at finding food and protection keep up the good work!!!
Excellent to hear! It really does get a bit easier the more hours you put into it! Always could be someone where ya least expect it though!
Man I’m new to this game and this video is exactly what I needed thanks!!
Awesome to hear! Yeah check out some of my other guides!
Great video Thankyou! 4th day playing today

For sure get chicken, cook chicken, eat chicken and WASH YOUR HANDS!!!! After that - everything else is gravy.
A knife is all you need. Cut the rags. Make rag gloves and mask. Kill chicken. Cut chicken. Make fire. Make fire starter. Make pointy stick!. Cook chicken. All with one knife.
Chicken is life!
@Nitno I don't even mess with chickens, too much work for hardly any food lol. Loot loot loot kill zombies loot. So easy to find food if you just look
@@williamwoodard6682😂😂😂 lies where I always die if I dont eat a chicken

Thanks man!
Yooooo, another epic gamer video by Nitno!
Boo!! What up! Thanks!
Haha yep DayZ can be like that. Good luck out there Survivor!
It's a tough game to get into, after enough hours it gets more manageable
You can also clean your hands on ponds or rivers. Nice list of tips!
Good tip!
Why gear up? Why leave the coast? I have made a nice little life here....and do not worry about being Murdered....by the gear heads. The Ocean provides...leave it....and die. Most people run inland...I run to the coast....the literal waves breaking coast. The only headache is running into town for clothes. The trees give me warmth, the stone knives, the Sea food....Water...yeah, that comes with clothing runs....but honestly, you can travel the length of the DayZ coast comfortably....and learn a thing or two.
enlightening!
Your my favorite Chanel that covers this game so far! Thank you 🙏 ❤
Thanks I appreciate that!
Nice video. I have a video idea after watching your channel and a bit of your stream : a video on protocols on interacting with other players. Topics can include; how to befriend other players, staying organized in groups, helping each other with food/water, engaging other players as a group, etc
Great idea actually! I'll add it to my list of videos to make. Although I often struggle to keep track of my friends and not lose them
My dayz experience so far: spawned, met some guy, gave him an apple(in hopes to team up), he started fighting the infected and got killed. I followed the traintracks for a bit, killed an infected. Than I got shot when I entered a shop.
Next one, I teamed up with someone, he felt and broke a leg, I gathered the sticks and rags to fix the guy. Than we found a police station and started shooting and setting off smoke gernades. Walked a bit futher, got ambushed and killed by a group of assholes with guns :(
Died alot by either the infected or cold or starving. I suck at this game lol
@@OldCarsAreFun honestly that sounds kind of fun 😅 keep playing, every life is different.
Very handy advice, it is a loss to the community when people try and give up a little to soon. 👍
Totally agree! I try to help any new players I run across in game.

@@cosmo9882 I often thought that would be a good idea too!
How many times should we die before we give up and play a better designed game? Seriously, a little hand holding is necessary in the beginning of any game. I want to like this game but so far all it does is cause me to rage quit.

The most frustrating but fun game I've ever played. Bless for the tips
Yep it's got its highs and lows! Anytime!
@@Nitno Thankyou so much!

coming back to the game and totally forgot about everything, thanks
No problem! Enjoy the game!
I have learned that a police station is bound to have a bk 133 or a mlock19 as the mlock19 is rare and the bk 133 is mostly found on the first floor opposite the cell

Thanks for checking it out!
as a nolife fatass with 3k hours on this game i personally quit and uninstalled dayz 12 times before getting the hang of it. Don't give up if you're new i wanna see more people on dayz luv ya
Well said! Glad to hear you stuck with it. It's one of those types of games!
Agreed...it is a mixed bag of people you run into.
I used to try and talk, but now if i see another player i just run away or start shooting if they're too close to run
understandable
Try playing on a lower population community server. That's what I do. Very rarely do I encounter other players. When I feel like PVP I get on high pop official server. I also only play on vanilla based servers.
I almost solely play on official, I did find one in community called "1000x" that's fun, and a few friends of mine just got their own server. But official servers, and the stress that goes with them, are still the most fun for me
Best tip anyone could implement: dont fear failure
Solid advice!
Can you drink from the water bottle if you dump it out and get it from the well? Or do you have to disinfect the water bottle first?
Yes it's safe if you just dump the water out, then fill it up with clean water from a well. Good question 👍
Well water is always clean
Really good video. but i have one question howdo you know how to craft things. is there like a crafting book
Here is a crafting guide, there is no in-game crafting book: th-cam.com/video/9GXUYDG6avM/w-d-xo.html

Genuinely, if they just gave you a map the game would be so much better. It’s ridiculous that using an outside app is the standard if you want to know where the hell to go. Besides, it’s not like the in game map trivialises navigation lol
I do think a map and compass would be a nice thing to spawn with on official. You can find them, but it's hit or miss.

it took me about 200 hours to learn how to play. still in the starter zone. want to improve that. i spend too much time looking for canned food and forget about hunting. punching chickens is best and quickest.
Agreed, yep I feel ya. Chickens really are a great way to get started. Bones and Food!
5:45 no real need for a hand drill kit - you got matches in your inventory there ;-)
Got me! 😂
@@Nitno THANK YOU @Nitno! ...I'm going to practice this ALL night now! Cheers man!
Are wooden fishing hooks new or is there a super con to using them? I have been using them because they are a little easier to find but i do notice the fish i catch arent as high quality as when i fish with a lure. Dunno if that is why or what
They are a brand new item this patch. Use them for sure before you find a proper hook.
@@Nitno Got you appreciate the response. Other than not having to use a worm does the lure also bring in higher quality fish?

Agreed!
As always, Top Level guide/assistance video!
My ONLY issue (and this is just the jerk grammarian in me, lol) is when you pronounce 'especially' as 'ekspecially' or something similar. Drives me nuts!😉😛)

Survive is easy. The hard stuff in dayz is to make friends.
That can be hard sometimes!
why the fuck would I need friends.
Watched so many tutorials and still can't even come close to getting out of the spawn town. starve to death, freeze to death, bleed to death, get sick, get killed by zombies, over and over and over. No food no weapons no water no clothes, cant find a damn thing😂
It's not easy! But I will say the more you play the easier it gets. Just got to stick with it!
from being dropped with one shot to being dropped with one shot?
Hmm?
the logic dayz is a realistic game but when u wash your bloody hand in the water pump and u drink it did u get then an infection
Clean hands should not infect
How to stealth kill a Zombie in PC ? Wich buttons should i press ???
Hold right click to raise weapon then left click. If it doesn't work, then the zombie was aggro. It can be real delicate.

The easiest thing to do is just choke down that fruit you spawn with and head inland.
If new players just did that and sprinted for the nearest town not on the coast this game would be received much, much better
Yep! The next town deeper into the map is usually well stocked compared to the coast.
Started fresh. Dont know what Indo wrong but there is about Zero loot and I die Even before I find a Single Stone or clothng
Try a different server. Check out the "temporary" official servers. Might have better loot table.
I starved to death many times… and yea, I did rarely play it
Also water is a problem
It can be rough for sure!

Woah
Every guide i see says sth like "yeah just go look around for a bit, find some cans or fruit, get a knife and a screwdriver" like bro, all 3 cities near every spawn are completely dry. And i cant search the 4th city, because ill be dead before i get there.
One word: Fishing
how do u kill the zombie like that at 2:30
Need to have a sharp edge like a knife (not axe) and crouch walk behind them, then stand up, and attack. They zed cannot be agroed or in the "searching" motion, they have to be completely unaware of your presence.
theres simply nothing anywhere. no zombies have stuff. no houses have anything. theres just nothing
Try a different server for sure. Sometimes those official servers marked "Temporary" can have a good loot pool too.
Not hating but thumbnail looks like freshie to freshie with a underwear gun lol. Thank you for all your videos even with 8000k hours I watch religiously.

If you're spawning in at night, or when it's raining.. just exit and join another server where it is daytime and clear. Sounds dumb but make it easy on yourself while learning the mechanics.
