I had the opportunity to produce on Camron’s Come Home With Me Album. I produced Track 11 on that album. Back then I used the MPC 3000, 2000 and XL. I liked the XL over the 2000. I like when artist have a vision. It’s help’s when scoring music for a song. I learned early never be married to the tracks you make. In the ninth inning, all that fly sh*t that matters to you can be cut out. Salute Ave.

@@robertprince2651 About two years. The track was picked late 2000 or 2001 when he was on Epic records. Then we got the call, that he’s leaving Epic so all involved didn’t know what will happen. Then he did the deal with Rocafella and Cam kept majority of the records. The album was released in 2002.

Being able to count is a skill far more necessary than being able to read a written bar of sheet music. Knowing how to use different counts and transition between them is a invaluable skill as a composer/producer...
I think its important to listen to the artists you are collaborating with. May not always feel good to have someone say... "no change it like this". However if they are bringing their own original vocals to the production, they have a idea in their mind in which they are trying to elaborate on. You have to help bring that to fruition. As a producer, learning to LISTEN, HEAR others, SEE their ideas. Creating what was once just a imagination. It is the fluidity of art and the production process. Always be willing to listen. You never know where those ideas might go...

It’s 6/8 not 6/4 my bro … this could also be counted as 3/4 in half time or you can spread it to triplet 4/4 . 6/4 does exist in traditional Greek and Armenian music but I think it’s very difficult for that to make its way to western music .

Learning with a classic Mpc and that workflow will sharpen his skills even more than they already are because, I mean he is a big time producer at the end of the day my favorite is between the 2000 xl and the 5000 because those are the only two older, Pre Live/X MPC’s I’ve owned

I have been using the XL since 2002 and cannot stress enough just how dope it is!! I just broke down and bought the MPC One to speed up my workflow. The only downside is the sound, compared to the XL. That 2000XL has an automatic beefy sound, where the MPC One is thin and flimsy. You can EQ after the fact, but layering drums turns everything squashed and mushy, not like the XL which could glue sounds together with real warmth. The MPC 60 Vintage Effect almost comes close!!

MPC2000XL was the best because it sounded professional. It had character. What else.. it was metal. The pads felt great too. When the MCD version of the MPC2000XL came out, that was all you really needed. The 2500 came out and it started sounding really plastic and sterile. And everything after up until now. I think they have improved a lil bit on sound quality since. I’m running with the MPC Live OG and it’s great at what it does.

Yeah, I’m very interested in when a artist take the initiative and give input especially when I present tracks to them my tracks can be overwhelming sometime. Because today’s production I targeted for soundtracks and movies cause so it could be a bit much inside of the track. That’s why I feel it’s important for an artist to give their opinion to make this song more creatively in the pocket for what they’re trying to approach.

MPCs are way to expensive in our country. I have a M Audio keyboard with 8 pads, and most of the time I use them to chop samples. I really enjoy playing pads.

Yeah, I've seen the prices due to VAT (which I think is complete bullsh*t). I don't think it fair to pay $2000 and above for any of these machines in 2023

Leaning over a device like that would kill My back to be honest, I'm not a FL head I'm a Reason head and it's got devices that function exactly like a MPC sampler Dr Octo Rex, Kong, Mimmic.

Im still local so I deal with local artist and I don’t mind limited artists input on my music arrangement for example, speed it up or slow it down and other opinions within that realm. Don’t ask me if i have a Ericka Badu hiccup sample 😂 the answer is No

Easier to use is always better... when u making beats.. u usually dont want to stay trapped with a handbook on how to do stuff.
Also.. is this guy on the marketing team for MPC? :)

Mpc5000 hands down...it's complex if you new school...but you can play a beat and sample live bass or wat ever you want.....as a real musician that's what I have...put my brain in a bird ,,,it'll fly backwards...it's a process...studio one to mpc5000 back to studio one....takes time..but..that's what makes a teezbeat
