I can't help but parrot a point made in the video: IF YOU HAVE AN EMISSARY FLAG, YOU ARE A TARGET. Not just to reapers but to anyone who wants to farm flags since they are worth quite a lot even without flying the Reaper Emissary. You will have to defend yourself. If you don't want to be targeted as often (there's always a chance) then simply don't use the emissary system.
Considering that selling with an emissary flag at grade 5 you get +150% worth the gold, you can cash in 2 times and get sunk 3 times, earning the same money as you would by selling 5 times without a flag. You are always in danger, you need to always be aware of your surroundings. Raise your flag high, always on high seas, be blod, play with other players, have fun!
Im sorry but telling people not to use the emissary system is sending them on a fool’s errand for the rest of their time on the seas, its wiser to just use it and accept the risk of being a target, running is always an option you don’t owe people a fight
@@Wren-xoxo OP is just trying to get the point across to the inevitable whiners who will say "i wont take responsibility for my own actions" when they raise an emissary and get sunk
I think the big thing to learn as a new player is that "losing" does not matter at all. Youre literally only working towards cosmetics. You wont get better weapons or anything its all just for fun
The issue is time. Everything in this game takes hours, someone who only has 2 hours a day to play will get very frustrated, hours wasted to achieve nothing. The learning curve in this game is not smooth, most players use exploits. There's a reason why sweaty people avoid other sweaty people.
@@nicolasoliveira4903if you only have two hours and you're not doing just pve that's your own fault. That's like saying someone playing Eve Online only has 2 hour to play and doesn't have fun when they barely do anything.
4:00 Sailing mechanics have changed. If sailing directly into a headwind, put your sails far to one side. And Sloop should always try to catch wind, even if it can't fully catch. Deadsailing is dead. Also, The sailing mechanics have made all ships more drifty when circling. To minimize this, Brigantines and Galleons should use "Wonkysails" which entails putting the front and back sail fully to opposing sides. Brig should have rear sail at around 70% compared to the front sail, while Gally should have front and back at matching lengths with mid fully raised. This configuration gives you the most consistent circling patterns.
@@Ayuka368 Yes. Setting sails to the side gives you the best circling patterns, regardless of ship. Deadsailing into the wind is actively detrimental, too.

New Update; the Blunderbuss will soon NOT 1-shot kill, but will still do about 85-90% damage and with a lot of knockback. Rare says they want the blundy to be an "anti-boarder" tool above all else, which I kind of agree. I know losing 1-shots is rough on people who cant win a duel, but I'm not one of those people.
4:10 you no longer want to angle your sails directly into the wind aka "dummy sails". Instead try to catch as much wind as you can if you can't catch any either side is fine. This changed in the most recent update.
Using Safer Seas, to learn the Game is 100% the way to go. Of course, you will learn bad habbits. But at least you can learn the basics and see, what the game can offer you. Genuine question here are cheaters still a big problem even after anti-cheat updates? Some guy teleported into our cannon yesterday and another guy seemed invincible even after 3 of us blasted him and hit him with throwing knives and was trying to give free V bucks if we did something with the hourglass, he left eventually but I was looking here on TH-cam for answers and just found 5 videos on how to download cheats. I’m super new from PlayStation just trying to figure out what’s going on, still loving this game we went on to sink 3 or 4 ships after that and it was a blast.
Nice vid! But I need to know how you pull out a bomb without having to go into your inventory? For example 14:52 you pull out a bomb without opening your inventory. How?
Safer seas is a place to test mechanics or to explore the world to get an understanding of it. "go to high seas straight" is coming from long-term players who already know the stuff. No need to, though, it will only make you an easy target. You can also play there if you want to chill but also to play Sea of Thieves; the possibilities are limited, though.
But those long time players didn't start in the safer seas. Honestly, the best reason to start in the high seas is to get over the fear of getting sunk. It literally doesn't matter. The gold is worthless to anyone who has played the game for more than a month. There are no stakes in this game, just gameplay. The running, fighting, being aware IS the game. If you don't like that, you'll do some PvE for like a week or two and then quit. Without the threat of other players, it's a pretty poor skeleton fighting simulator. Asking players to start in what's a 4/10 experience just isn't the way.
@theengine Safer Seas didn't get into the game by accident. I've seen enough players give up before they understood anything. We can read the complaints on Steam and what was requested. Now the players can decide, so why should I give them bad advice just so I have an easy target in the game? Maiden Voyage is also separate from the rest of the game world because of this. Nobody learns a game if they don't know what just happened. But with the skeleton combat simulator, you're shooting yourself in the foot by saying the game is boring and offers nothing, because gold is worthless too.
@rosaecrux Yeah, we don't have enough data for this conversation. But my point is that Safer Seas is there to fix an out of game emotional regulation problem, not a game problem. Just get sunk. It literally doesn't matter. If someone's take is "I started something new, had a setback before I learned anything, so I quit", they're not a serious person and the people in their lives don't like them very much. I see just as many people complaining that the game is too empty. Why tell them to start playing in a meaningless grind towards fake coins? People complain. It's fine. These are the same people who want an easy mode for Elden Ring. They're the people who go to a restaurant, want to modify the dish before they've had it, then complain they dont like it. They are not serious people.
@theengine And I see no reason to attack such people personally. I've beaten Elden Ring several times, I know people who had a harder time, but with the game's tools they were able to do it. And if there was an easy mode, I wouldn't care. Games are supposed to be fun, there is no value in being good at a game, that skill can be impressive, but I don't see why it should be a gatekeeper to prevent others from experiencing the game, or why it would have any meaning to my ego if I were better at the game.

I have a newbie question, so all weapon types do the same amount of damage, right? Like all swords do the same amount? And different ones you get are simply cosmetic?
I don't have a crew but I'm willing to play if anyone wants to. I think I became a captain couple years ago. I did some pirates of the Carrigan dlc and I own a small ship if I remember correctly.
The video mentions that hitting grade 5 emissary marks you on the map for all players. Everything I can find online only mentions grade 5 Reapers being able to see other emissaries, but nothing about grade 5 emissaries of other companies being visible to all players. I don't think I've ever seen an emissary other than Reapers on the map (without being grade 5 Reaper myself). Does anybody have personal experience that supports what is said in the video?
That will ruin the game If there was a dedicated pve server Then the PvP aspect of the game becomes nothing as there will be no treasure to steal Also the game would get insanely boring because of it turning from fighting for loot to boringly stacking with no risk The game is DESIGNED in a way to have PvP occur because I don't know if you noticed but all you can buy is cosmetics that's because the game isn't about the treasure but the way you got it and what you had to do to get it

@@HashiraObanai thank you, would you recommend tall tales first? because i usually tend to do story first in most games and it seems like something that has an end unlike the rest of the progression in the game
What's the guy holding in the thumbnail
Supposably, it's a grappler that will come out at the end of the year season 14
Gave you a sub , i dnt even know how much i will actually play this game lol
That’s adorable!! ❤
Also if you ever go to reapers to sell and there is a skeleton that tells you to follow him down for an initiation, you better run. He will make you lie in a coffin and never get up. If you try to run he will chase you and call you your IRL name.
Is it you?
@@alexcole9325 No man come on. Dont tell me you havent seen some of the best work Blurbs has ever done? th-cam.com/video/JevQRHxB8_k/w-d-xo.html
2:00 how do you get shots like this please I need to know
Blurb. Im trying man!! I played sot since the day they were giving supporters weekend testing and quit after killing meg in original meg event. The game is overwhelmingly more difficult...i hopped on and camt believe it
might be worth noting the sail positions are incorrect from latest update?
Do I have to play the tutorial mission or can I straight go play with my friends?
Is the hide emote thing gone?
It has to be bought in the pirate emporium
But there is an emote where you sleep that does the same thing
I agree this might be good channel for pvp tips, but its not the only one, i would recommend checking out as many channels as possible
Blurbs is one of the best players around but more points of views are always good, PhuzzyBond is another streamer with great tips
Yo my friend just bought a sniper in the game and he can’t find it, can you help me out?
Should be in the gun box inside your ship
May i ask your sens/dpi? Im new to mnk trying to figure what vets use, ty!
there definitely should be a way to skip Brigsy's speech when you accept the voyage.
well i watch this vid 1 month after u asked for subs to 100k... looks like you got over a 100 k just from that vid..:D grats man.. great kontent.
Me my brother and a random newer player 🫡just started last night and we ran into a kraken as soon as we left the dock we beat it thoe somehow 😂😂😂 scooping water out the bottom for our lives
I have 7 days and I still learned some things
Definitely ignore the keg advice. Keeping at least one in your crow's nest is mandatory for improving survivability.
Bloody pirate 😊
Pre ordering that loot I see
You’ll also change servers every time you dive to world events… or at least when you dive to world events not active in your server
I Just subscribed and bought it on steam don't let me down Jeff
Just started playing and it’s fun but what is there to spend gold on other than buying a ship? I don’t see any stats on anything I can buy in the shops so is everything in game cosmetic upgrades?
There are some "OP" cosmetics/weapon skins/ship customisation... but they are all purely cosmetic.
@@riot6289 okay thanks riot
I have a newbie question, so all weapon types do the same amount of damage, right? Like all swords do the same amount? And different ones you get are simply cosmetic?
yes, cosmetics dont add any advantages other than, looking cool ofc
Thanks!
So does this apply to everything? Like there’s nothing to upgrade to give you any tactical advantage, right?
All progression is cosmetic.
Can anyone tell me why tales don't save after reaching check point?
Damn brother! Doubled your subs in a month?! Fuck yeah 😎 keep it up!
just bought it last sunday ,might just be skill issue but its sooo hard I'm crying while they burn my ship to the sea ground
not played this game in over a year is the sword flintlock combo still viable?
Any combo is viable in my opinion if you can use em right
But the main meta rn is sniper blunderbuss but all the guns have a decent balance
Shot a guy point blank with the blunder, shrugged it off and cut me down..
Great video. However, there are actually 5 tiers of hole damage. I saw it in another video, check it
No there isn't in terms of the hole itself
Thank you 🙏
What's with the random footage of Tim Minchin????
Can I buy all 3 ship types and switch between them or just 1 ? 🤔🤔
As long as you have the gold to buy a ship it doesn't matter
I don't have a crew but I'm willing to play if anyone wants to. I think I became a captain couple years ago. I did some pirates of the Carrigan dlc and I own a small ship if I remember correctly.
Add me "common fiith" and i'll inv you to my guild, just got to level 15 so you can ise the emissary flag for it.
@learnedeldersofteemo8917 xbox?
@@learnedeldersofteemo8917 2 " i's?"
does anyone know how to get the flag of the reapers mark? not in my flag box
He said a grade 5 Guild emissary is visible to all players.
@@keegana8753 Ahhh okay good to know. I just learned about guild emissary. Been away a long time. Thanks for the clarification :)
@@alarkels no problem!
my boy blurbs my boy blurbs
My #1 wish for the new season is that they give you an option to turn off Briggsy's speech.
Me and my homie wanted to go on a medium boat bc it’s more resistant and is medium velocity to any side
1:55 wouldn’t be a problem if they had the balls to make an actual pve mode
That will ruin the game
If there was a dedicated pve server
Then the PvP aspect of the game becomes nothing as there will be no treasure to steal
Also the game would get insanely boring because of it turning from fighting for loot to boringly stacking with no risk
The game is DESIGNED in a way to have PvP occur because I don't know if you noticed but all you can buy is cosmetics that's because the game isn't about the treasure but the way you got it and what you had to do to get it
@@Senan_is_cool24 pvpers could always… idk… play the game
Most of the game is pve, btw. Literally the only pvp aspects are the canons on the ship and two weapons in your hand which can also be used for skeletons 🤷♂️
@@cajunking5987 it's very easy to simplify things
All pve is is just going around island to island doing the same thing over and over
If you could just play the game with 0 risk then it becomes boring because zero risk
If you can't handle PvP go back to animal crossing
its called Sea of thieves you see that word at the end? its spelled T h i e v e s you know what a thief does? he steals and youre playing a game about pirates and stealing and crying that people try to steal your loot.
@@realmfx7356 yeah, you would be the thief, against npcs.
