  • For your consideration - my SECOND failed Editor-san audition!
    This one's from 2021.
    Again, your typical tier ranking list video presented through the prism of my poor editing skills 😁
    If you happen to like my failures, feel free to sub!

      Wow, if I did not read the description and scroll all the way down to read the comments, I would not have figured out that this was for an audition and thought it was a real footage uploaded by them 👍🏻 How long do you wait for them to get in touch with you after you submit an application?

    This video confirms *everything* I have ever suspected about TwoSet's classical music listening habits. I feel so vindicated (and a bit sad 'cause they're missing out on some great composers and music genres). I'm really glad I found this and from now on, whenever anyone doubts my analysis of their classical music preferences, I can just point to this video instead of having to go in depth about my conclusions (like that they're unfamiliar with / not very fond of Renaissance and Baroque music - Bach being the exception for Baroque - and that the same mostly holds true for vocal music and opera).

    • @BreadBoi-0
      @BreadBoi-0 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      maybe they just don’t like baroque or opera? personally for me operatic works are kinda grating to my ears - dont kill me

    • @Casutama
      @Casutama ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@BreadBoi-0 tbh - and I know my take on this is a bit controversial, and I'm sorry this became so long - but imo they're a bit the same thing. Dislike very often just stems from a lack of familiarity. (And that isn't true for music but also for stuff like food etc.) Of course people have preferences, and there will always be some things you like more than others, and even a couple that you genuinely dislike, but most things, people can grow to like by exposure.
      So TwoSet's dismissal of Baroque music (Bach doesn't count because his style was very different to most of his contemporaries) tells me that it's unlikely they've ever really tried to delve into that kind of music. And if you tell me you dislike opera, that tells me you most likely haven't grown up with that style of singing and haven't taken the time to let your ears familiarise themselves with it.
      Which isn't necessarily a criticism by the way, I'm the exact same when it comes to composers after Mahler and Richard Strauss. I find the music hard to follow and hard to emotionally connect to and I haven't really made any effort yet to change that. There are a handful of pieces that are the exception, but on the whole, 20th century music isn't for me. But I wouldn't presume to say that I dislike it (or that I dislike, say, Prokofiev), because I simply haven't taken the time yet to even be able to dislike it. When I do take the time (and I will someday), I will be able to say which composers among them I think are good or bad quality, and which I like or dislike (which I don't think is remotely the same thing). And I might still like 20th century music the least out of all the eras after really delving into it - or I might love it better than any other. But I'm almost certain that either way, if I keep an open mind and keep listening, I'll come away with at least a good many composers whose music I enjoy, because it's unlikely that I dislike most of the music of an entire era of composing.

    • @classicallpvault8251
      @classicallpvault8251 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      People tend to prefer storytelling over architecture, and are drawn to extraverts.
      Bruckner's music is like the work of an architect, while Mahler's follows a narrative, even outside of his song cycles. We happen to know that Bruckner wasn't at all interested in literature, he did not posess a single literary book at the time of his death. Mahler was fascinated by prose and poetry. They were also very different as individuals. Mahler was an intellectual and was highly extraverted. Bruckner was highly intelligent but not an intellectual, he didn't really pay attention to subjects other than music, faith, and drinking beer, and was a very shy and humble man. These properties reflect in their music.
