Top 5 Fish for 15 Gallon Saltwater Tank

- I get so many comments on what fish I should put in a certain gallon tank, so why not begin a series on it? We will begin with a 15 gallon tank and move up in gallons from here as we start to see larger fish in larger aquariums. With a tank this small, you usually can only put 1-3 fish together, so I hope this gives you some great ideas on what to add!
If you have a tank this size and did not see the fish you keep, please leave it down in the comments for more suggestions from future reefers!

Thank y’all again for an amazing year!!!❤
Someday, you might have to review about: scribbled angelfish, goldflake, Flag fin angel, cross hatch trigger, masked butterflies, and more angels.
Clownfish And Damselfish are closely related to each other.....
Can you do a 20 gallon tank top 5
@@nickroscoe1867 sounds like a solid!
I’m really thinking about starting a reef tank one day, this was very informational for starting out with a smaller tank!
Love this idea for a new series. I’m following. Can’t wait till you get to 150+ size tanks

I love these all about videos. I go to them all the time. Thanks for putting them out.
Appreciate you watching! That means a lot 😁
Surprisingly and crazy enough, the fire goby has been my most hardy fish throughout my saltwater hobby tenure. They've survived all of my dumb mistakes along the way Lol
Clownfish for me lol. They make it through anything
@@jonathangraham7148right lol had made some shitty mistakes and my clown made it out with me 🤣 now they’re doing good
same, if you kill a fire goby, you really ducked up.. 🦆
Same !
Great video Brock... I hope your tank is making a comeback
you have a great wealth of information and knowledge of this hobby. thankyou for sharing with us all.
Great info thanks! What’s a good amount of fish to add to the tank when you’re just starting?

How are you able to fit 5 fish in an eco 13.5? I have one and I thought I could only put like a pair of clowns and one other
Love your videos. Do you think I could mix clowns with some of the more peaceful damsels? I love the sand gobies but they are so hard to feed inmy experience that they can easily raise nitrates especially in a small aquarium with no refugium or means of really controlling nitrates. I actaully had a diamond jump out of my tall tank which totally freaked me out! LOL He usually only came up for food and he was always very late in the feeding time when he finally would come up so I would have to keep throwing in more food when the others were done feeding and he would barely get any even then!
A good selection.
Technically clowns are damsels but great video.
Hi
Thank you for a great video. I am starting off with a 100L reef tank.
From your video do I get that we can have all the five fish species together or should I only pick one of them?
I've got a pistol goby in my nano, if you like straight looking sandbeds don't buy those together, the shrimp is bob the builder constantly makes a whole tunnel system and everything he finds outside the holes he just picks it up.
Oh my gosh 🤣 little guy sounds like a character
Thanks Brock great video 👍
I’m ready to see the 55 gallon one.
Hey! Very cool! I was wondering if you could recommend a couple stocking lists for the tank sizes are well? These are all great fish you listed, but how many and what combination?
Hey Brock, great video! Do you think that watchman goby and fire goby could be placed in the same, 10 gallon, tank?
Can you have a pair of clownfish AND a gobi/pistol shrimp pair in a 16 gal or is that too tight? I also don't want my water parameters to be difficult so probably not :(
Edit: unless I can keep just one clownfish instead of two?
I have a 10 g that is 23 inches long. I have a gladiator clown, “nano” clown, and a yellow watch man goby. Not a single fight and maintenance is normal. Weekly water changes and scrap sides. I’d say you’re good from my personal experience. I’m even looking to add another little guy here soon.
@@zdolla3mstill going good? thinking about this setup
@@calebcottrell6766 it’s perfect. Do it
Good video
Subbed
Really appreciate that!!
Would I be able to have a goby, pistol shrimp, pair of clown fish and other inverts in one 15 gallon?
Thank you for all your videos!! At the end of this video you have a blue crab. What’s the name of this crab?
Thank you for watching!! That is a Harlequin Shrimp
Great show as always, cheers.
I don’t recommend blue devil damsels in a small community tank. They get real territorial and aggressive fast. Killed my flame hawkfish and coral beauty even when I added the damsel last.
how many fishes do you recommend to put in a 15 gallon reef tank?
Can you make a video for a top 5 fish for a 15 gallon freshwater tank?
how deep should the sand bed be for the watchman goby and pistol shrimp?
At least 1 inch. I usually go for two though
I only work with liters
so these 5 fish can all be put together into a singular 15 gallon tank?
Regular water changes and not over feeding would give you success
@@BrockLeonard regular water changes being once a week?
@@SXMTitans usually recommend 20% monthly or 10% bi weekly
Should we add normal water or saltwater while water change?
Please make a video on Australian Stripey. Great Aptasia eater
Can you do by time advice for 65g 4 feet long ?
I got a gold lightning maroon clown would it be safe to add a small gold nugget?
Usually I would say no because the maroon has probably already taken territory over the tank and the gold nugget would get attacked constantly. But it also depends on the size of the tank.
can you do a video on 10g?
I watched a yellow watchman goby devour a purple fire firefish in the display tank at my work 🥴
90 gallon predator tank please [fuzzy dwarf included]
I've always been afraid of putting too much weight in the bottom of my 55 gallon tank or any tank. I currently have a saltwater 55 gallon tank and it has 44 lb of pink Fiji sand I have one live rock and I would like to add a lot more but I'm afraid of cracking the bottom of the tank with weight I've never asked anybody before, how much weight is too much weight to put in a 55 gallon tank?
It can handle a lot. I don’t know the specific math on it but if you think about it water weight a little over 8 pounds so it’s already holding over 450 pounds just in water. For reference, I had about 85 pounds of live rock in my old reef tank that was 55 gallons.
@@BrockLeonard okay, I want to go full reef and I'm slowly adding fish that my moray eel will not eat LOL and I'm just so afraid of the bottom cracking that's all. I learned my lesson with him on the third night I had him he ate my royal gramma😐 so his first meal was $40. Then he killed my bicolored angel by biting it. There was nothing I could do with the angel I couldn't take it back to the pet store no refunds that sort of thing, so his first two weeks in my tank he cost me over $100. I'm pretty knowledgeable with fish and aquariums and setting up good biotopes, just not very knowledgeable on how much stress the bottom glass can actually take. I've been keeping freshwater fish for over 30 years and have recently switched to saltwater only because there's only so much you can do with fresh water. While having a saltwater tank your options are basically limitless. Anyway I ran across your channel and found it interesting. Hope to have future conversations, keep up the good work.
@@BrockLeonard I forgot to say about those two fish dying, they kept going into the moray eels and wouldn't leave that's why they died. I figured they would be smarter than that but obviously not.
@@SG-Motorsports hahahaha they thought they done found a friend.
@@BrockLeonard well, it's a nice looking house and I wouldn't mind living in it myself but the royal gramma and the angel really insisted on living in there but it didn't matter that it was already occupied. My eel which I'm not sure what to name him yet I'm leaning more towards Lumpy, he's really amazing he goes in and out of the house and doesn't really stay in it much anymore he stays around it I'll see if I make a short video or something share it in here with you. I think I have one of my tank already but it's changed since then and lumpy is a lot bigger believe it or not he's growing, he eats twice a day. Currently I'm still feeding him shrimp pellets once a day and hand feeding him with very long tongs, krill pre-soaked, he eats between 10 and 20. I have one full bottle left and after that's gone he's going to supermarket Seafood.
I need something for a 5 gallon
Not recommended for a 5 gallon marine
Royal gramma & banggai Cardinal
Can you do a 5 gallon video
If the biggest you could afford was a 10g would just a pair of clowns work
Yes!
@@BrockLeonard thanks so much Brock!
