Not seeing anyone in the comments mention that Martin Wenk & Jacob Valenzuela actually played on the original Arcade Fire version of the song, and that's why Calexico covered it and it was released as a b-side of Arcade Fire's Intervention single. Calexico actually played a few dates with Arcade Fire in 2010, with Martin & Jacob coming out and playing Ocean of Noise with Arcade Fire. I ended up meeting Martin & Jacob after the show and talked to them for at least 30 minutes...they were truly amazing!
Calexico doing a cover of an Arcade Fire song... they are two of my favourite bands of all time, I almost feel like they did this cover for me... I am as grateful as I can be. THANKS. Greeting from Santiago, Chile.
hehe... it always does when Calexico makes a cover of another bands song... try checking out their cover of Nick Drake´s "clothes of sand", Kenni Loggins´ "dangerzone" or R.E.M´s "the one I love"... They always manage to make it sound totally as Calexico songs... they are so brilliant - and furthermore an amazing live-band
It sounds like it came from them just as much as Arcade Fire's original. Unique place to be~ I can't decide which version I like more Which is ok, it's not a contest.
¡Bien dicho hermano! Deberíamos unirnos todos contra nuestros verdaderos enemigos, los políticos. Son ellos quienes nos enfrentan. ¡Saludos desde España! ;)
thanks for posting a clean audio upload of this version, been looking for it for a while. Although i really like the arcade fire's version, i love this take as well, :D
@Corruption Studios- Don't the most amazing songs get played at funerals? I wish to gather all the funerals and all the best music therefrom together, from Day 1, until now, for the most ecliptical, most phantas~magnificent ethereal CONCERT the world as ever known !! I wish... what would a ticket cost ?
Department of Justice. Not really the president, but the same part of the gov't... I suppose every country in the world can take a good hard luck at corruption in their gov't- The U.S. and Mexico included! We both live in glass houses, so its probably best not to throw too many rocks.

I love Arcade Fire, but this is fabulous! Thanks for including the wonderful artwork.
My favorite Arcade Fire song done brilliantly. I can see why Calexico gave it a shot, it kind of sounds like one of their songs.

Best exaple: "Alone again or..." of LOVE. I ever thought, it's a so so typical Calexico track. They makes it to their own.
They covered it because their brass section actually played on the Arcade Fire original
Congratulations, it's a beautiful cover.

The songwriter and arranger was channeling very early 1960's Burt Bacharach.
Could you recommend a specific song or two by him I could check out to see what you mean?
I'm, gonna comment on this. 😉
I just bought myself some time.
I Play This At My Funeral
que bonita :)
Do not worry, be happy and live

Calexico is from Tucson, Arizona born in arizona, and named after a tiny town on the mexico, california border. i dunno what mexico city is all about.
I hope this will happen after many decates :)
Who did the art work?
@imontane1 Don't forget the Drug Cartels- they have everyone's best interest at heart... Hope you guys can get those guys under control ASAP.
Well I hope you guys can get your presidents under control ASAP. What the hell was that "fast and furious" shit? funnily..or sadly, started in Phoenix
some images looks like a huichol art, another works include art from Frida Kahlo

Superior to the Original☆☆☆☆
No way.
I am Mexican and I say: It's really really good, a lot, but never better.
Ni de pedo! Pero sí, muy superior a la versión de Norah Jones.
no no no... no
