    Thought you did a great job till the end when i was expecting you to actually show the results. I wanted to use this for my review mirror, but without seeing the results it wasn't worth the risk. It almost looked splotchy, but hey, it could've just been reflecting something from the ceiling =)

      Hi, thanks for your comment, if you see the last clip of the video you can see the mirror displayed, reflecting the image of the product bottles. This will show that the splotchy areas you may have seen were excess silver that was cleaned off with the Mirror Remover. Please let us know if you have any other questions about this process. Thanks!

    This works really well. Was able to get a great result on my third attempt. First attempt was ok but I accidentally smudged the finish before painting and I think I did not get all the excess tin off. Second I accidentally mis-mixed the quantities wrong. Third time was the charm and I followed the instructions to the letter which I think is the key. One thing I added on attempt 3 was that I rinsed of the tin thoroughly with tap water and then rinsed again with distilled water as I was running low. Think that might be a little more effective in terms of getting that tin thoroughly washed off. Another thing is that if like me, you are not masking the "back" or side of the mirror you are not coating it can look like you have a good coating on the side you intend to treat because both sides of the mirror will be coated. Be very careful that you have an even finish on the side you want or you will be disappointed when you clean off the excess silver on what ends up being the side of the glass/mirror you look at. Important to get this right before painting for obvious reasons. Finally in terms of the confusion about front and back I might recommend that instead of using the term back and letter B to mark the side of the mirror that you are NOT coating it might be better to shift the instructions to making it clear that you are coating the BACK of the mirror and to use the term front and the letter F to mark the side you are not coating. The main reason for this is that the letter B looks pretty much the same reversed where F is much more distinct and also I think the instructions would be less confusing to a lay person.

      Thank you for letting us know about your experience using the products! You make some great points there. We do not recommend using tap water during the silvering process because it could cause issues, depending on the quality of your tap water. However, it looks like it worked great for you. You make a great point about marking the opposite side of the mirror.

    Good video, thanks for sharing, ... I wanted to try this myself but when I got in touch to purchase, the shipping was more than the solutions as I'm in the UK ... So I started purchasing all the solutions and making them up myself with Silver Nitrate, Ammonia, etc etc, ... This is more or less the same as the Tollen's test inside a bottle. In fact you can pour the Tollen's over a sheet of glass like you did and will get the same result ;-)

    Hi. I like the product and want to use it for some small (8") round beveled glass mirrors from an antique scale. I am confused about two things though in the video. For all baths is the back of the mirror (the side that will eventually be painted) facing up?. In your video you mention keeping track of the back with the marked letter B'S. If those letters were truly written on the back wouldnt they be trapped in all the washes? At the end of the video I can see those letter B's but they look as if they may have been on the front (non painted side of the mirror). My intuition is telling me that the Front of the mirror would have the marks put on it and that the front side is always down (touching the wash basins) for all washes. Am I correct in saying that or did I misinterpret something in the video?

    • @AngelGildingcom
      @AngelGildingcom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, thanks for your question-it's a great one. This can be confusing. The side of the glass that you are silvering will BECOME the back once you are done, but while you are working on the piece you will want to note which side you are silvering and which you aren't. We do this by writing a "b" because when you are working on the piece the back is the other side. The bottom line is that you need to make sure you clean one side very very well, then Tin, rinse and silver that same side. Once silvered, you paint directly over the silver and when you flip the piece over you see your mirror! I hope that helps, we understand it is confusing.

    • @AngelGildingcom

      Hello, you will need to silver the opposite side as the one that you touch. The side that sits against the case is the side that should be silvered. Thanks!

    Hi there and thank you for sharing your expertise with us! :)
    I have an old closet door with the same size mirror in it. The mirror has started to loose the silver around the edges. I like to know if I can remove the darkened areas and put the silver coat only on those areas without too much separation lines between the old and new mirror? The doors and the mirror are pretty big and heavy, so I don’t want to redo the whole thing! Any ideas?
    I looked at Amazon and there are multiple Angle Gliding products for mirror. Which one should I use?

    • @AngelGildingcom
      @AngelGildingcom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Leila, thanks for asking this. Are you able to remove the mirror from the door? You will need to be able to do this first. There are ways to silver a selective area but you can likely still notice the difference between the new silver and the old silver. If you would like to email us at cust.service@angelgilding.com with some photos of your piece we would be happy to help in more detail. Thanks!
