everyone's talking about the rear mount turbo or complaining about world records, but can we just acknowledge how friendly and polite that driver was? seriously, some people with cars like that are simply stuck up and rude, but he was alway smiling or saying thank you every other sentence. props to him👍🏼
@Incepting Explain to me how anyone can know what that person actually meant? There are the people who will actually post this kind of shit for real. Troll, yes, possible. They are also the same people who think that the earth is flat.
Bradley Thompson lol exactly what i thought, dudes having a cold beer before making a run??? Lol we def dont get those bottle in the states i dont believe
Lawrence Andrew They're really more common in sleeper trucks. I saw a few ford lightning pick up trucks with rear mounted turbos. of coarse the intercooler gave it away but still
Little known fact. Turbos spin the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere which equates to double the boost we see in America. They also run micro sized NAWZ bottles disquised as Red Bull cans.
Love the drivers personality, seems like a guy you could have a drink with and talk cars. When he ran that first pass and beat the world record I actually got hyped for him when he got the results.
Depending on what you are looking for rear mounted turbos have some advantages. you have a cleaner engine bay for one and less heat soak. and not to mention you can always pop the hood n say it's stock when you are trying to stay a sleeper lol.
It's great modification due to the fact that the exhaust pipe will last you a lot longer in the back just because of the pressure is not the same thing as pushing out pressure and sucking out pressure so it's a great thing that you guys done with this model hopefully I can see it at another models and as well as in not only Dodge or Jeep but other car companies as well maybe a little lag a little bit maybe a second less but it is well worth it due to the fact that in the long run your exhaust will be taking care of a lot better than if you put in the front and your turbo won't heat up as much
Rear mounted turbos only make sense if you have absolutely no space in your enginebay. Every inch more intake manifold and every inch more exhaust pipe to the turbo adds turbolagg. So mounting your turbo a mile away from your engine and routing 4" pipe all the way to the front adds alot of lag. The big plus is the nice turbowistle because the turbo outlet ist a few inch away from the exhaust tip.
Does the rear turbo have a benefit??Cuz AD motor sport's cnt even touch the 10s and there slick out and built motor...I was gonna wait and get the new eaton 2650 blower but now with this might bite his setup.Good work down there boys hope to see you guys in the low 10s just how it is at 5150lbs
@0:21 What did he say? ** MotorSports? AT Motorsports? ATeam MotorSports? 80 MotorSports? It's hard to translate Aussie slang English. What I'm trying to get to is who makes the turbo kit? Thanks anyone!
Don't know anything much about car engineering but what's that thing in the bottom? Never seen anything like it. It looks like a turbo but never seen that under like that close to tailpipe. Thanks! No bash please just a question.
woah that rear mount turbo is pretty sweet, is there any benefit/disadvantages to this kind of set up? I've seen this like 3-4 times and always wondered about them
Can you tell me if that engine is a 5.7-liter hemi? or is it a srt 8 that added a turbo ?, I think the turbo idea is great behind the rear axle, but I see a problem, I live in Mexico and here in the rainy season it floods very easily and has one to go through puddles of water , I imagine crossing a small puddle of water and the filter of the turbo air goes down, if there is some water, forget the engine, it will be a thousand pieces, imagine the turbo injecting water to the engine would destroy it in seconds. The most I think is an excellent idea, you save a lot of space by placing the turbo back. I would only look for a way to get the air intake higher to avoid damaging the engine on a rainy day.
can someone explain the rear mount turbo if the engine is in the front?? how does the forced induction enter the engine from that far? wouldn't the long piping from the back to the front of the engine effect boost?
I love how drag racing has records for every sub-sub-sub-subcategory for every modification :D it's like "I'm the fastest 5th grader in my class that is born in March and are sitting 10feet from me and is wearing the same kind of t-shirt" :D
Croo ookie In this setup he's got an 8 speed trans so he's always gonna be high in the rev range and is gonna have the turbo spooled, plus it cuts down on heat soak and allows for more weight to be out over the rear wheels, which equates to more traction. It's not the best on a street car or a drift car (lag issues), but works here.
Brilliant; amazing time- the four wheel launch adds a lot even if with weight penalty. Looks a tad slow in the first 30 feet; he launches it pretty easily. Wondering if there are a couple tenths to be found there. Congrats mates- that's a beast which is still a pleasure to drive on the street. Well done.
9s doesnt mean 9:00, it means from 9:00 to 9:99, he is already in 10:87 so it takes less than a second for him to get into 9s and also his wheels are 20 kgs each and AWD so the rolling resistance is a lot, his suspension squats a lot. your name matches you very well.

S Miller No, placement of a turbo won't have any effect on "lag" it's all about the size and actual force that the exhaust has to put on the turbo to get it spinning
That makes sense, only question I've got is why did Mercedes make a song and dance about putting their turbos within the V of their V8s to improve lag? (Might have been a journalist getting lag mixed up with spool though)
did he say that the 42mm turbo was too big for the SRT8 ? There are 4 cylinder motors ,even though not stock, but still. What the fuck do I know right!
I'm guessing that's dodges next fastest production car out of the factory. The engine can obviously hold the power with the turbo. Now Time to come out of the factory with it lol.

Mark Paolucci agree!
He's Australian thats why
Us aussies are a pretty friendly bunch ;)
I wish my ecodiesel jeep could do that lol
Mark Paolucci yes, and that Jeep looked like it drove straight down the track like butter. That guy was courteous, and professional.
Agreed.
That is amazing that they are turning a stock 6.4 Hemi up from 485 HP to twice that much power and not breaking anything!
Ffff 5 years ago. Now imagine the #
5200 pound jeep running 10.8 on stock motor. impressive.
Today we have 2018 making 1000hp and running 8.60 with twin turbo set up stock 5.0 and stock trans.
Calvo motorsports made 1400whp with a stock longblock TT viper.
That thing squats hard!
what a great car, a real goer - 8 lbs boost -- ha ! the hemi must love the turbo.
is it true in Australia the turbos spin backwards ;)

Taylor Mullis ya In Australia we do get Red Bull in a bottle
MD 7818 lucky bastards, i can only drink half a can of that stuff, a lid would be amazing lol
We have the bottles here in sweden to
Love seeing some more Aussie vids on here. Looking forward to seeing much more in the near future!
"hold my red bull"

Les Phillips these were customs. I should've mentioned that
Little known fact. Turbos spin the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere which equates to double the boost we see in America.

AZBADBOYz 😂
I think air goes from exhaust to air filter in opposite direction too

Never seen a rear turbocharged before.😍😍😍😍😍😍
Really? STS has been at if for years now. Well, If they are still in business lol, I keep forgetting I'm old AF
Porsche has been at this for a very long time
Toyota Brony because it isnt as good as a normal front one
Ben but porsche has a rear engine this car doesnt

Rear mount turbo? Do Australians just enjoy doing everything backwards for the sake of it?
Granny Shifting you mean upside down
Granny Shifting there are literally tons of Americans with this setup, boost is pressurized and stays cooler in the back!
Granny Shifting a lot of people do rear mount set ups just makes packaging so much easier and keep additional gear out of the engine bay
Even in the states people have been doing rear mounts for years
The rear mount turbo system was developed and patented in America by STS.

It´s a bic (bottle microphone).

Ebenezer Switch A/C off adds 500whp.
Answer please, just don’t know, why turbo is in the back?? Air from turbo goes back in the front? Intercooler? Please, answer somebody))
I nearly wish I had rear mounted my Tacoma again. The front manifold mount was a giant pita to install. Rear mount is stupid easy.
Drew V But you can show off a front mount and also your hard work
Mattenburg yeah no doubt I'm super proud to show it off. My old Tacoma was bed mounted with a stack and flapper so it was still more fun to show off!
Drew V Sounds fuckin nuts mate, can always appreciate a good turbo build
Drew V that's sick I never thought about doing it like that
Extremely impressed what the stock parts on that jeep can take!!! Big big thumbs up!!! Kinda...makes me want one lol
love the Jeep Srt8's so much thanks for sharing.

Meh, waiting to see that 3000hp Patrol from Dubai in action!
NELKEL JDM VLOGS are you talking about the patrol that went against the 918?
Matthew Ford nope
You mean the one with quad turbos and intercoolers :)
But that "Patrol" entire engine has been built from the ground up. This Jeep is otherwise stock!!
NELKEL JDM VLOGS Meh? What is that? Kid.
5.7? 6.4? SRT? Limited?
Forgive me if im wrong, but is the track slightly going down hill?
Don't know anything much about car engineering but what's that thing in the bottom? Never seen anything like it. It looks like a turbo but never seen that under like that close to tailpipe. Thanks! No bash please just a question.
Thats a rear mounted turbo. Not all turbos are mounted in the engine bay.
Very Cool. My Brother has a twin remote turbo setup in his vette and it's a monster. the turbos don't get that hot since there not off the manifolds .
curious about the "2014+" why were the 11-13 not included? Because of different trans?
Does this type of set up have an specific name to it ???
Does it make the vehicle faster?
Is that a turbo by the exhaust?? lol never seen that before
woah that rear mount turbo is pretty sweet, is there any benefit/disadvantages to this kind of set up? I've seen this like 3-4 times and always wondered about them
Slightly more lag and more weight from the additional plumbing. Keeps excessive heat out of the engine bay though.
Here is a novel concept, he doesn't drive it in the rainy season. Most people with a hot rod have another ride for the shitty weather.
where did he get the bottle of redbull?? never seen one, just cans.
can someone explain the rear mount turbo if the engine is in the front?? how does the forced induction enter the engine from that far? wouldn't the long piping from the back to the front of the engine effect boost?
What a great idea on the turbo and it sounds sick
Hello , pourquoi le turbo vers le pont arrière ?
i need help how i can do like him in 0:33 or how i can find video have turbo like this
skievl23 i go to more than 4 shop and place to modified car and thay say i cant
wouldnt that turbo run cooler therefore making more horsepower and needing a smaller intercooler????
what about the new 2018 grand Cherokee TrackHawk??
What is a built box? Transfer case? Also what turbo kit is that?
Cleetus and Kyle , I live several miles from New England dragway . I'm wondering if you guys need a 1320 cameraman for the northeast ?
I love how drag racing has records for every sub-sub-sub-subcategory for every modification :D
it's like "I'm the fastest 5th grader in my class that is born in March and are sitting 10feet from me and is wearing the same kind of t-shirt" :D
WHERE ARE THE MODS/TURBO SYSTEM DETAILS?!
I didn’t know you can put turbo in the exhaust
The turbo behind rear axle?
Could someone tell me why this is setup like that? Seems like miles of plumbing right?
Im curious on how the oil returns to the oil pan of the engine??
I always thought it used gravity. And had to be higher elevation then pan.
scavenge pump, it collects in the little homebrew pan under the turbo and gets pumped back into the sump
@@Redsparrow12 huh.. I'm going to research this a little more. I'm wondering if this would work for a little 4 cyl
And the pros and cons of the set up
How much power is he making to the wheel
it took me a while to realize this thing is right-hand drive...
DaBrute lol me too 😂😂😂
DaBrute did you not see the Holdens in the background
Damn these Hemis respond well to boost
His happy face is like seen a child's face on Christmas ! Great video!!
I never understood why rear mount a turbo? Less heat? More back pressure?
Croo ookie In this setup he's got an 8 speed trans so he's always gonna be high in the rev range and is gonna have the turbo spooled, plus it cuts down on heat soak and allows for more weight to be out over the rear wheels, which equates to more traction. It's not the best on a street car or a drift car (lag issues), but works here.
Space. It's a PITA to fit a big turbo on alot of cars, this included.
impossible wrong, there's plenty of turbo srt8s with turbos under the hood. 'Simple' lol dumb ass. Thanks to the other guys who actually explained it.
Well done.
In lost why is the turbo in the rear????
Remote turbo set ups are awesome!!
wow, is that orange interior available in the US??? sweet Cherokee!!
Dirtnap300 There is an option for the saddle coloured leather called Laguna.
How much power to the wheels
You can hear the sweet turbo spool so well ☺️
where can you buy the Turbokit?
if he tunes the suspension and changes the heavy stock rims he can easily get into 9s.
That's when he starts breaking things
Keep dreaming
sweet dreams he gonna gain 2 secs by changing the suspension and rims....lmao
9s doesnt mean 9:00, it means from 9:00 to 9:99, he is already in 10:87 so it takes less than a second for him to get into 9s and also his wheels are 20 kgs each and AWD so the rolling resistance is a lot, his suspension squats a lot. your name matches you very well.
sweet dreams like I said lmao.....
How does a rear mounted turbo work?
hmfadeout13 Just like a normal Turbo :D
Exhaust gases go in to the turbo, and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster...
Jeremy Clarkson.
Same principle for Rear mounts.
A long-ass "up pipe" running from the collection points on either side of the V to the turbo exhaust inlet and then (depending on how the charge is cooled) another long boost pipe through to the intercooler/intake point...etc.
Usually this sort of setup introduces significant lag due to the added plumbing to get it to work.
Actually isnt bad with lag thanks to the pretty close ratios in the ZF 8 speed. Once it comes on in first it never drops out down the quarter..
Use about 20' of piping..
Dont care what anyone says, thats impressive. Great Job!!!!!
saw a hellcat supercharged motor that ran 10.3
I wouldn’t think lag is an issue if your up on the stall when the lights come down
Only bad thing about that turbo placement is that theres probably some crazy turbo lag. But the things a beast no matter what
Just found this video... (to the driver) mate, I'd be happy to buy you a slab of whatever you want. That was impressive, you bloody beauty!!! Has your time been beaten since?
is this a srt or set 8
Is that an 8 speed standard?
how to keep rear mounted turbos clean though?
@Manuqtix Manuqtix I assume it gets dirty being so close from the road and I think that is not really good for the turbo in the long run, but I could be wrong.

How is this the stock motor?
Im curious because the 6.4s crumble with any power adder over 7psi due to the ring lands being high on the piston skirts.
If this is truly the stock motor I'm relieved being a SRTWK2GC owner myself. I flog the fuck out of mine.
What happens if you drive through water...?
Can u provide turbo specs....🙏🙏🙏🙏
Never seen a right hand drive Jeep SRT🔥🔥🔥
But is it trail rated?
digging the right hand drive jeep
I heard stock 6.4s weren’t good when handling anything above 6lbs of boost without failure
turbo always safer then supercharger, as boost comes later on safer for trans.
surely that must lag ..... Fairplay, ive never seen a turbo in that area.
I want the 6.4 Hemi and brembo brakes but I don't want a track suspension. Who is going to track this boat anyways? give us the straight line performance with a jeep offroad suspension :)

There's a jeep in pr that runs 9.68 with even the speakera its called la diabla ( the devil) its a grey jeep . You should search.

Downhill track, does it count?
It's not downhill. It just looks that way because the track has a slight incline at the end.
It obviously makes sense to you then.

lasted him about 10 months on 8psi boost, then cranked it up to 10psi and blew bottom end. From what he told me.

6.4 is not really made for more than 8lbs of boost. If it had forged Pistons and few other changes it could 10-13 lbs of boost and run 1000HP
*hint* put octane booster in the fuel tank.
alot of people hating on this. i think its dope. thumbs up here

And it’s on stock tires oooooooweee everybody else had radials all it needs is a track hawk transmission and rear differential
what did he change to go from 11 to 10.8 ?

grabir01 that doesn't change et
grabir01 Probably just turned up the boost
