The list seems to just give credit for goals scored.. and not how they may have positively affected the matches they played. You rarely get credit for stopping the rival team from scoring. When you're basically only using goals scored as the basis for the best and worst players list.. then defenders are obviously going to be at the bottom.

Jack Beacham he was less than a df, more like a box to box midfield. He do both defence and attack. His goalscoring rate is damn great nevertheless for a midfielder with such an exhausting role.

I feel you're being kinda harsh on Park Chu Young. Yes he wasn't good enough for the first team, but he was clearly signed to sell shirts in asia, and that really isn't his fault. Also the fact that Squilacci is only 5th and Cygan isn't even on the list is a crime in itself.

Yeah, and I remember him being on the Victorious Denmark squad at Euro ‘92 along with Peter Schmeichel, and I think he even scored a goal. I think he was good, otherwise the Danes might have lost. Solid midfielder in my opinion.

+Zac Hallgaten you are wrong, Inamoto and especially Miyaichi had potential. Sadly Miyaichi stayed raw and was hampered by injuries. Arsene mostly sign players by ability or potential, not for marketing. Some of them just not happen to be. I have to agree on Park a bit... He was decent at Monaco and I actually expected more from him. I dont know if its the lack of opportunities given by wenger. Its like Campbell, we all though he would not make it until Arsene gave him a proper chance. Park never had a proper chance.
Lucas Sam I had high hopes for Miyaichi too. It wasn't the purchase that made it obvious it was for shirt sales, it was the way he was phased out of the team.
They didn't care about developing him, let him train alone, but made sure he appeared at a pre-season game in Asia.
If I was going to buy a player for shirt sales, I too would buy one that actually had a chance of making it.
+Zac Hallgaten miyaichi was sent on loan to all various clubs, but sometimes it doesnt work, coquelin and joel campbell made the most of their loan moves, sometimes it is luck, wenger recalled coquelin when we had no other DM available
Park was Korean, one of the best Korean players at the time. Wenger pretty much ruined his career unfortunately.

Gooners of the early 70's, will definitely give JEFF BLOCKLEY a mention. Brought in to replace club legend Frank McLintock, the man was a walking disaster. We lost out on being the first team at the time, to get to three successive F.A. cup finals because of him. Bertie Mee the famous Arsenal double manager of 71 said it was the worst signing of any Arsenal manager. I won't disagree.

Jeffers held the record for England U21 goals with Alan Shearer but even without injuries he was never going to shift Bergkamp or Henry out of the team, but in comparison to Yaya Sanogo he was world class, considering he had a 1 goal in every 5 games ratio compared to Sanogo's 1 goal full stop.
Chris Whyte is another nightmare defender who should be in there too.

Park Chu-Young was considered 10 years ago to be the best young Asian player, and whilst he never lived up to the hype, he ended up becoming a fairly mid level striker for Monaco. He wasn't amazing but he was clearly signed in the hope that it would expand Arsenal's brand all across the far east and that Arsene could use him as a decent third choice striker. Obviously it didn't work out though and I believe he plays back in Korea now.

Why is Inamoto on this list? he wasn't given a chance by Wenger, he didn't make any league appearances the season he was bought 2001/02 but then he played in the 2002 world cup and did so well that people wondered why he wasn't selected in Arsenal's matches and went to Fulham instead because they were actually willing to give him a chance and he did alright for them i recall. You can't call someone's performances "poor" if they've not been given a chance. Ok then Walcott was "poor" in 2005/06 as he never got a game for Arsenal (despite being selected in England's world cup 2006 squad which was weird, especially as he didn't play at all in that competition either, what is it with managers apparently wanting players and then not playing them??).
That is reason why Zlatan didn't do audition for Arsenal. Hasse Borg wanted to sell Ibra to a club which will give him playing time. Arsenal offered the audition but Borg rejected it. Zlatan would have wanted to get to the audition.

park chu young was signed in the last minute of transfer. he was really good at as Monaco. and Monaco was relegated that season. and wenger is french and he would've seen park playing for Monaco and didn't want to see talented player to go down to 2nd league in french and his value would've been cheaper cause his team got regulated. so he was sign as no.9 for arsnal. but I don't know why wenger didn't give chance to park to prove him self.

Nice one. They all made sense. A few from before your time that deserve a mention. Terry Mancini, a centre half who should never have made it beyond the old 2nd division. Jim Furnell, a goalkeeper whose performance in a cup tie at Blackburn in 1966 still gives me nightmares over 50 years on ( and incidentally cost Billy Wright his job as manager, but he did pick him so he only has himself to blame). Finally Mel Charles. His brother John Charles was a superhero at Juventos and we thought we were getting the same thing. A bit like the Franny Jeffers situation. He wasn't that bad, but the hype was for something so much better. Spurs also wanted him, we won, so they bought Dave Mackay instead. Cruel.
Anyway, thanks for your list. the only one I really have doubts about is Almunia. He wasn't much good, but I remember McKechnie, Mclelland and Furnell. Now they were bad goalkeepers.

It was on deadline day, Park was in a hotel at Lille waiting for the deal to go through, medical and stuff, when Arsenal called him, saying like "Dude, dont go there, come with us, Monaco also accepted an offer from us. I mean Lille, come on ! Right ? Ok, see you in a bit."
I remember feeling bad for Lille, being an Arsenal fan, when i heard that story from journalists. Not a classy move.
Then, Park played like 6 games and went back to South Korea.

as a Latvian gooner, Stepanovs was the only Latvian player who played for the Arsenal. I never seen him playing but I can imagine Robbie haha. In top 3 must be embarrassing for the Latvians.
