- I did a cover of "This Silence is Mine", from Drakengard 3! I've always, always, ALWAYS wanted to cover this song, but when I heard it years ago, I just didn't feel like I was skilled enough. But I am now, and I'm really proud of this! And what better way to celebrate a big number of followers than by showing some of my proudest work?

I'm going to wax poetic for a moment here, if you don't mind:
It's taken me such a long time to feel comfortable with my singing voice and sharing it with others. I developed some pretty immense stage fright around high school, and it killed most of the drive I had to sing for or in front of others--but over the past couple of years, people here on TH-cam have been so incredibly kind to me, and have repeatedly encouraged me to keep going and keep singing. I feel like I've taken it for granted, but it really is such a fantastic feeling to have the confidence to sing again, and I have all of you to thank for it. Thank you for supporting me in all my shyness, my goofiness, and my nonexistent posting schedule! I will keep doing my thing, and I hope you'll keep listening~

Before you comment--I know I don't sound like Chihiro Onitsuka. I know my voice doesn't have her roughness. It's not supposed to. If a cover were just a perfect imitation of the original, what would be the purpose? I put my own heart and soul into this, just as I'm sure Miss Onitsuka put her heart into the original. I admire her work, and it inspired me to make this cover. But I need you to understand this: This cover is *mine.*

I think that's an important distinction people need to know before hearing a cover. A lot of the time they're impressed when they hear a different voice the same way as a singer, but they could just listen to the original if they want it. Covers are meant to be the singer's twist to a song and this one's really good.
The clearness of your voice reminds me of a bell. I'm always at awe with your beautiful voice. ♡ this is breathtaking beyond words.

All I know about Drakengard is that its batshit crazy, story wise, related to Nier somehow, and now I know that its got some pretty music.

@@Inglonias Drakengard 1 and 3 are two of Yoko Taro's best games, in my opinion.
it's related to Nier because Drakenguard 3 is the origin point of everything. Ending E from Drakengard 1 is what leads us into the Nier story line. It's worth looking into the Drakengard half of the story because without the events in Drakengard, Nier's story wouldn't even exist.

Gods this is beautiful. As a huge fan of the series this made my little heart beat fast and shivers run down my spine. Still have goosebumps!! You've really capture the emotions of the original and carried it even further!!!!
Damn, this may just be the best cover of this track I've ever heard. It adds something new, while retaining all of that raw emotion from the original track. Your voice is amazing too, fits the song perfectly.
Also, hearing a take of this track with electric guitar was really, really cool.

A good cover, you give this song the power it deserves, but I'll admit part of me was hoping you'd sell the hoarse, destroyed performance of the original towards the end. The raw POWER behind that cracked, destroyed delivery is part of what I love about the song, but I also understand it's not exactly reasonable to expect that given how harsh that must be on the throat. The backing track for this piece is PHENOMENAL though, hats off!

Yes, unfortunately, while I CAN do some growl-singing, it’s not sustainable for the health of my throat or vocal chords-particularly since there’s a lot of takes done that don’t make it into the final cover. Glad you enjoyed the backing track though-A lot of work and love went into it, so I’m quite proud of it too.

Wow, I actually prefer this rendition compared to the original! The way the electric guitar is much louder in this arrangement gives a different kind of power to an already powerful song.

This cover was amazing. Although, you don't have the same tone as Onitsuka, you still captured the emotions and pain in the song. And your dad did awesome on the guitar cover parts. The whole thing was great!

I'm sorry, I've just had a lot of personal things going on in my life, and I don't like to respond to things if I can't take the proper time to read them fully and take my time to write a comprehensive, thought-out answer.
