You made the King's theme justice, this is such a beautiful and awesome version of it, as a huge Dedede fan, I give you my approval. And OOOOOOHHHH BOOOOOOI the parts were you added your own notes to the song and the Masked Dedede motif

I don’t hear enough emotional DeDeDe covers like this! Something is just so fascinating about picturing a dramatic scene involved with this character; such contrast to what the Kirby series usually is about.
    Wonderful job!

For everyone who's expecting a new upload, I just want to inform you that the video this week will be a little late due to my busy schedule. Don't worry, though--it will come!

Having never played a kirby game before and listening to both the OG version and your cover of this song, I'll say this: slowing down the piece doesn't capture the tone of the original, going from a frantic boss fight to what sounds like the final moments of one. When covering music, the goal is to capture the feeling of the original music, otherwise you're remixing the piece. Don't get me wrong here; this is very good, but it doesn't recreate the franticness of the super star version

King Dedede's theme reoccurs throughout many Kirby games--the theme from Kirby Super Star is only one version. While I did put Kirby Super Star as the game from which this piece came, I wanted my cover to encompass all varieties of King Dedede's themes. As you know, there are many different remixes of King Dedede's theme from many different games, and all of them have their own feel. No one feel is "right," and it wouldn't be feasible for me to capture the tone of every single King Dedede theme at hand. Because of this, I didn't necessarily want my cover to capture any one feel; instead, I wanted to create my own tone, make the piece my own. I wanted my cover to be less of a frantic boss fight and more of an emotional journey. I wanted it to have a nostalgic, almost sad quality that would stir the hearts of listeners who have fought King Dedede time and time again. In truth, I hoped to make this piece different from the standard. While recreating tone is important, please understand that giving a twist in mood to a piece is equally powerful as it puts the piece in a different light.
Sorry for the long explanation--I hope it wasn't too wordy! Thanks for commenting and reading!

      J. Xionia No need to apologize for the lengthy explanation I can read pretty quick. And I do see where you're coming from with how you covered this piece. It's an interesting way of changing a piece of music with the same melody. I like it. Maybe you should try your hand at covering a track in a... less nostalgic manner. It'd be cool to see you branch out into different "genres" while keeping your own style.

I loved this as well, but I would definitely say that this transformed the tone of his piece, I don't think he's ever had a sad piece like this. The two 'saddest' pieces of music I can think of involving Dedede would be The King and the Sun from Super Star Ultra and Fountain of Dreams from Nightmare in Dream Land. Besides that, I guess there's 'Taranza, Master of Puppetry' and 'Revenge of the Enemy' that are at least slower paced pieces, but only one of the four I just mentioned even have Dedede's leitmotif in them.
I notice at 3:00 you do the rhythm of The Masked King/Dedede's Royal Payback. That incarnation of the song has always been incredibly fast and grandiose, for example.
I mean, definitely keep doing what you're doing. I'm not sure if cover even means you're supposed to catch the original feeling of the piece; Google just says a new recording or performance of a song by a different artist.

ArcticBlu I'm don't have nostalgia towards kirby, pokemon, animal crossing, and other Nintendo franchises. Thr only mario game I have nostalgia for is Galaxy. I grew up with racing games. I'm here for the good music, not because of past memory. I see this music without a nostalgia filter, which is why I critique it a lot. But hey, that's just me

ArcticBlu and Nintendo is back in the spotlight. Sony's being pushed to the side with their aging ps4 and Nintendo is rising back up with Nintendo Labo, and maybe the switch.
