    At 47 years old was rushed to hospital with a 95% blockage to my heart, I had absolutely no other indicators. Now I am nearly 60 years old and after changing my diet completely I have started multi day hiking, my oldest son said to my hubby just today,”I don’t know mum anymore, who is this new person? 😊😊
    Eat plants and walk your way to better health, so true 🏕🏕🥾🥾. Thanks so much to you wonderful Doctors for sharing so generously .. Happy trails 🌅

      I was 53 old male when I got a stent on my heart because my artery coronary left was blocked 100 % says doctor. It was in February 2021 ( 10 months ago) , but already for 5 months I am following Esselstyn Caldwell’s diet ( wfpb ) . Statins I stopped after 1 week. Right now I am feeling good.
      If I knew about doctor Esselstyn before angioplasty I could avoid the stent.
      I am sorry much because I didn’t discovered him before. Thanks 🙏🏻

    A lot of vegans are getting in trouble as well these days because there is so much alternative processed foods to animal products, and many might believe it´s still healthy just because it´s vegan but this is not true. I had to find this the hard way in my first year as a vegan about 7 years ago! Whole foods will always be the best!

    Today, I was told by a doctor who specializes in diabetes that once the vein is clogged, it will not unclog. I knew he was NOT telling the truth. He kept pointing out my high LDL of 203 of 2 years ago. I told him I reversed my LDL and it is 123 and HDL 85 now. I went to have my insulin resistance, Ha1c, and blood sugar tested because I changed my diet to plant based and I do sports. When I told him I walk 10,000 steps every other day, he told me doing too much is not good. I climb mountains so 10,000 is nothing. I went to know how resistant I am to insulin!!! He did not like that I said no to cholesterol testing because I already knew everyone in my family had high cholesterol so proving it meant nothing. He kept asking me if there were anyone who had heart disease. I kept saying no. Why would I need cholesterol tested when mine is already down and there is nobody with heart problems in my family and relatives..... I had low expectations about these diabetes doctors but the reality was worse. Do they want patients to stay sick??

    • @cletus9944
      @cletus9944 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm happy that your LDL lowered. But to be honest the ideal LDL levels are between 35-70. Make sure you are following a low-fat, no oil, whole foods plant-based diet to make sure you achieve those results. Caldwell Esselstyn has a great cookbook, check it out. Good luck :)

    • @chubbieminami3274
      @chubbieminami3274 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cletus9944 I understand, thank you. I am not concerned so much anymore (although LDL tends to get high due to genetics), because both my parents have higher than average LDL. They are now 89 and 86 years of age. My aunts and uncles are/were also well into their 80s. I am on a low-fat mostly plant based diet now. I am also keeping my BMI down at 20.5 so I think I am doing well. My LDL will always be higher than average or ideal. Sadly... that will be the case for me.

    Regression of plaques has not been well established at all. The effect is to slow or halt progression plus improved dilation and stabilization. Regression for older plaques is not possible at this time.

    • @carl13579
      @carl13579 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Dr. Esselstyn's artery pictures sure look like regression! And even if the diet "only" significantly improved dilation and stabilization, the important thing is that it makes a person that other cardiologists were ready to give up on a heart that is basically heart-attack proof with, in many cases, a dramatic reduction of angina. Agree that it won't regress everyone - older plaques that have calcification are probably there to stay. But it isn't the old ones that lead to new problems. I've been on Esselstyn's diet for 3.5 years and have seen amazing results.

    • @theartificialsociety3373
      @theartificialsociety3373 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@carl13579 no, regression is a change in the plaque thickness. You can not observe plaque thickness with angiograms. What you see is dilation which is a completely different thing and the diet most certainly works for that. The important thing to understand is expectations, reality, and how important it is to stay on the course. Even a short deviation can reverse the benefits very quickly. The other important thing is the the heart disease is not gone. The arteries are damaged and depending on how bad things are, in some cases intervention is essential or beneficial.

    • @carl13579
      @carl13579 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@theartificialsociety3373 Intervention meaning stents? The data for these is much worse than for Esselstyn's patients. These things have little if any net value for CAD with stable angina.

    • @theartificialsociety3373
      @theartificialsociety3373 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carl13579 i don’t think it is as simple as that. I did see the studies that questioned the benefits of interventions. However, the definition of stable is very subjective and difficult to quantify. People can be stable right up to the day they have the heart attack. And there are serious questions with respect to the point of no return.
