Hi Joy I learn the most from watching you paint. Seeing the tools and color selections are wonderful to watch the changes. Enjoy your comments as you paint. Love your channel. Kathy
Just what I needed today! I’m on my 6th paint over and was getting frustrated. So glad to know we all go through this and we learn. I guess we would just keep painting the same way if we didn’t take chances! Thank you Joy!! 😊
I enjoyed watching not only your process and the evolution of the painting. I find myself restarting and redoing all the time and I've always seen it as a problem but nowI am going to rethink my own process.
Joy, I’m a new subscriber to your channel and delighted to have found you. I found this session terrifically helpful in that it shows the reality of the to-and-fro process of painting….that we need to take our time and when it all goes somewhere unexpected..it’s not a bad thing…it’s on its way in a different direction that will, if we trust ourselves, go to a better place. I find your commentary is thoughtful, pragmatic, gentle, wise and insightful. Your example of trusting the process and your own instincts is just what I need right now. Thank you.
Thanks so much for your comment, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video. Yes, it's all an interesting process and very much a journey rather than a destination! Happy Painting!
I'm so happy to have found your videos! Really appreciate all your dialogue and have found it so helpful and encouraging. I started my first abstract painting a couple of weeks ago and have wanted to give up many times, so I was very grateful to watch and listen to your process. Thank you! 😊
Thanks Joy for your wisdom. I really appreciate your recording yourself painting. I would’ve had a crazy painting to on a very windy day. I just painted my breezeway white and am making my own wall easel with the help of my lovely son. Can’t wait to start hanging up those big canvases and creating. Love your podcast as well it’s fantastic. Merry Christmas 👍🎨🖼️👏🤗🎄
Can’t wait to to watch part 3, so amazing to watch you take this in so many directions and not give up. I always get frustrated at this point and give up….. I have soooooo many paintings I need to revisit. I usually feel like a failure and the painting gets stacked up for years. Loved listening to you commentary xxx
Loving the way this painting is coming along. My big problem is often lack of patience with any size bigger than 12" x 12" and now trying to relax and take my time.
Hi Peggy my suggestion is to have a few different paintings going at the same time, in doing this you give each painting time to dry and you can keep your momentum going on another piece! 😊
Thank you for your time you have allowed us to watch this piece unfolding. I love your dialogue and explaining where we go as artists in the ebb and flow of it all. Just began watching your channel and I so enjoy your delightful accent and instruction. I have been a watercolorist for a very long time and am exploring the acrylic world ! Must say, it has not disappointed
Thank you so much! 😊 I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video and my ramblings! The acrylic world is full of wonderful surprises which I'm sure you'll enjoy 😊🎨🖌️
I really like that size of the canvas, it’s perfect for abstract size!!! What size is it? I am 69 and learning so much these last couple of years and the hardest is to let go and you have helped me immensely to go for it and have courage!! You have really inspired me since I was sick! Huge thank you❤
There have been so many times as I have watched you paint that I thought it was great and time to stop….. how do you know when the painting is finished? ❤️

Wondering what brushes you use for all that blending. Filbert, small chip brush, or a round? I see you using the side of the brush.
Hi I use gesso brushes and flat brushed mainly 🖌️🎨🙏😊

Thanks for your questions. If you watch the follow on video Part 3 I talk about finishing a painting which you might find helpful 😊
