$1,900 for the generator and $1,300 for the 4 plug-in solar panels or recharging. A bit expensive but it looks to be plug-and-play. When they shut down the grid it would be well worth the investment.

Thanks for your presentation. I have been looking at different reviews of this product.. I appreciate the simple demo of plugging things in. As an older single woman with not much electrical knowledge I need all the input I can get. For those who complain of the price Amazon currently has a 200.00 off coupon bringing this unit down to 1699.00.

Thanks for doing a great job in your review of the 2400wh Bluetti. A few weeks ago I bought this model, along with two Jackery 1000wh solar generators, and two Jackery 100 watt foldable solar panels.... I live in a small house in a remote area of the Southern California Mohave desert where the power goes off every year a number of times--usually when the temperature outside is above 110... I've been in the same house for 44 years (I was born in 1937), and wanted some method of battery backup that was simple to use and would run some things in my place to save my refrigerated food and to power one of my two through the wall AC's. One of the AC's is a 6000 btu LG, remote controlled 8 year old model, traditional window AC, that I modified slightly to be able to put through the wall...My power went off a week ago right at midnight while the temp outside was still over 100. The power came back on at 4:30 am. During the outage I had the first trial with the new solar generators. Neither of the Jackery's could handle the power surge to keep the AC running, but the Bluetti was able to run it. While the Bluetti was running the AC, I plugged one of the Jackery's into the Bluetti and it did great in charging the Bluetti while the Bluetti was powering the AC. I used the other Jackery 1000 to power my desktop computer, a light, and a 3 small fans, and to alternate back and forth between powering my small freezer and the apartment sized refrigerator. The Bluetti worked beautifully and so did both Jackerys. All in all, I think my investments were a success. In the future I'd like to buy a second Bluetti 2400, in order to guarantee some extra power for longer power failures. These Power Generators are beautifully designed high tech. gizmos. The Bluetti is a bit heavy for an old guy like me to move around, but the Jackerys are perfect for placing anywhere one needs 1000whs.

I respect the points you made in this video. I disagree with some of the snarky comments made in response to your presentation. So many of the snarky comments focus on the $2,000 price tag. But what they ignore is the total price includes the components & the finished workmanship of the product. Sure there are those who could build their own equivalent systems after ordering & assembling the parts, wires, fuses, cabinet, etc. But I dare say when they cost out those items plus their own labor, they will find a total that far exceeds the price paid for this unit. As for those talking about lead acid battery alternatives, it must be noted that those options immediately sacrifice portability as the weight would be suitable only for stationary installs or vehicles. I think this is a wonderful product for those wanting significant human-portable power beyond 35 amp hour base units.

I tried to make a poor man's version of one of these power stations a few years ago. I bought the pure sine wave inverter, a 12-volt, 100 amp lead-acid battery (lithium was not available), and the rest of the parts. I slapped it all together and it worked great, but the clutter of cables and miscellaneous parts made it impractical to move around. Conclusion - don't bother building your own power station. You will never do as good a job as the commercially built power stations, and the small amount of money you save (if any) isn't worth the trouble.

To those that keep going on about "I can get a gas one cheaper" or "gas is better"......you are missing the point. It's cool because you don't need to plug it in to the electric mains or use gas/petrol. In other words you can go anywhere with it and can charge it up as long as you take a solar panel too and there is daylight. And it's free energy and non polluting.

  • @3RTracing

with the refrigerator, it is not the watts as much as the ingress inductive load from the compressor motor. An ingress startup sine wave doubles the draw-Amperage and Voltage for one cycle, and that usually takes out most back up power inverter systems as they are not designed for hi ingress inductive load cycles, like refrigerators, heat pumps and air conditioners load the system with on start up. It would be interesting to see the readout, or a volt and amp meter on the refer line on startup.

You would probably want something bigger to run AC and fridges, this stuff is more for running TV, computer and charging things, maybe a small microwave, the cheapest way to power fridges and AC, is to buy electric car batteries and a 48-60v inverters, and a charge controller, for about the same price, to $1200 or so, (give or take, depending on what you buy) I built my own system for offgrid, under $2k it will run my house all night, no AC, or heat, these things will power a fridge, but that's about it, you could hack it , by adding a external battery, it will run things but not long enough to live normally, I am thinking about taking orders for a portable offgrid power system, if ppl were interested, and put it on wheels, with everything together, at a good price,

Basically you have to add up all the watts of your devices and divide the number of watt hours by that. This has 2,400. The main device I want to use it for does 120 watts so it would last 20 hours

    • @maryrenaud6732
      @maryrenaud6732 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@MtnNerd I used a watt meter (Poniie PN2000) to measure my large side by side Frigidaire refrigerator’s electric consumption over 3.8 days. It averaged 69 watts per hour (6.32 kWh / 91.85 hours = .069 kWh per hour * 1000 = 69 watts per hour. [Note: kWh x 1000 = watts.]
This works out .069 kWh * 24 hours = 1.656 kWh per day; 1.656 x1000 watts to convert to watts=1656 watts per day/ 24 hours = 69 watts per hour to confirm the above calculation.
I would like to use a 2000 watt system dedicated to the fridge, but this only leaves a 344 watt safety margin to avoid discharging the solar battery too low. I figure either I can do some hours of down time or pass through charging to maintain the power station at least at 30% of capacity (600 watts). Full discharge (2000/69 = 29 hours). Do you think it can safely be less than 30%?
If 69 watts per hour is about right then 69 * 8760 hours per year = 604,440 annual watts /1000 to convert to annual kWh = 604.4 kWh. I believe this is very close to the actual annual kWh energy star electric consumption estimate for this model. I will try to confirm that on the Energy Star website. So if you have the Energy star label from when you bought a fridge, just divide the annual kWh by 365 days = kWh per day X 1000 to convert to watts per day.
This is a neat calculation for all Energy Star fridges that run 24/7 for 365 days. Say you want to keep your solar to a lower level, you can buy a small fridge/freezer unit with no ice maker. Say it is rated at 320 kWh annually, then it is 320/365 days = .877 kWh per day X 1000 = 877 watts per day, or 36.5 watts per hour,so a 1200 watt solar unit or possibly even smaller (with pass through charging) will be feasible.. I understand solar power battery systems should have at least 25 pct or more of capacity left and not be discharged to zero. I used 1/3rd or 292 as the safety margin on this = 1168 or 1200 watts.
I calculated the load to try to determine what size solar power station I need, just for the refrigerator. I believe 2000 watts will work well, as long as it has pass through charging so I can charge while using the fridge during the day. It is possible to keep this frig cold enough for food and ice, on less than 24 hours of electricity but I hope this will work out well for a 24 hour period.
We had zero current for 3 days after hurricane Irma and using frozen 1/2 gallon water bottles periodically moved to the refrigerator side, saved all of our food. We did not have much in the freezer and just cooked and ate what we did have.
Refrigerators are hard to monitor unless you do it over multiple days as I did, because of the widely fluctuating amps, volts and watts depending on whether the compressor kicks on or not, and possibly due to temperatures in the home where it is placed. Energy Star has done all the work for us, making it easy to estimate average loads for refrigerators.
Of course, for other electric items that just run about the same watts when turned on (washing machine, hot water kettle, microwave etc) are easy to predict as it amounts to hours times rated watts = total watts. My hot water kettle is rated at 1500 watts, and yep it meters at 1500 running watts when on; but it is usually only on for 3 minutes to boil a lot of water, so the only factor to calculate is time. 1500/3 minutes = 25 watts per minute, equals 75 watts for 3 minutes.
Sorry this is so long. I am trying to work out the best and most affordable solar options for my situation. Hopefully this is helpful to others.

I don’t know why, but it’s amusing to me when i use power from a better to charge itself- or like how you are using power from your batteries to charge your solar generator, and then if you use your generator to charge your batteries. I understand the physics of this so no need to your time giving me a physics lesson.. it just amuses me=)

This is great, and there are quite a few of these on the market. But they are good for a limited time then they need to be charged. You can use solar if you have good sunshine and enough solar panels. Other than that you are out of power. A gas or propane generator makes much more sense in most cases.

yeah, the company calls it a power station, IDK whythese guys call them generators, maybe a more searched for term, or because it does replace a generator. .... Actually, maybe it does generate. It generates the required voltage per your request from stored fuel, just like a gas one. What it's not doing is converting the fuel, it generates a signal for you inthe same fuel you filled it with.... does that fly? lol

I had one of these and returned it. Twice! These are not plug-in-and-forget type battery units. If a cloud or shadow crosses the solar panels these are connected to, the powers drops while in the shade (normal) but THE BATTERIES DO NOT RETURN TO FULL POWER ON THEIR OWN. You have to unplug the barrel plug then reinsert. It will then go back to max power. This is a KNOWN issue and Bluetti knows this. CS will tell you they fixed it but not true. I ordered a second unit to try out an updated/ "fixed" unit and the problem remains. If you use this battery and leave for they day and come back, your battery may be depleted while running your fridge for only several hours due to shadow/clouds that may have covered part of the panel.
If you can monitor the battery then these are good units for the current price ($1,300 with Amazon discount, as of 11-18-21).
Their newer models cost more but offer more features. I do not know if the newer models suffer them same problem as the EB2400.

@@truthseeker3967 No, it's just storage for an electric charge. If you add solar panels, you're adding a means to collects energy from the sun, but on it's own, it's just a nice battery pack with a built in power inverter (converts DC voltage to AC) . Doesn't mean it's not cool, but definitely not a generator. That's like buying a nice tire and saying isn't this a cool car, without the rest of the parts it's not a car, it's a tire.
