    Hey thanks for your reply
And sorry to disturb you but am tired of paying the steeler dealer
My question how do you know if the bottom of shaft is bad and if good can I just take off top bolt by firewall and disconnect the interior bearing boot and hook up the new boot without uninstalling the bottom of the engine shaft by rack and pinion? As a short cut just to get rid of the steering wheel noise and just replace the bearing at the firewall then put it back together do you think that would work because I ordered a new shroud and got it but the 3 shroud bolt on back order have to come from Germany so says the Benz steeler dealer? Do you think that can work ? And I appreciate you in advance Boss
Ps i shook the bottom of the shaft where connects to the rack and it shake clunk and is that normal?

important does battery have to be unplugged as far as air bag or clock spring or is that built in to the rack & pinion?

I mean you can test it out, spray WD40 on your old boot where the linkage goes thru. If the noise is gone you’re good. I fixed a car this way by using grease. You can let someone steering the your car and listen and feel to the U joints if they making noise you should replace the shaft anyway. Hope this helps you out. 🪛🔧🛠️

@@beemarshell2161 it’s not a bad idea to chance it in the term of doing the work. If it is in good shape you can keep the old one and retighten it with new OEM screws.

Hi, thanks for subscribe to my channel. I got a hard clunk noise whenever my suspension went deep. I decided to replace when the same noise started by driving over a speed bump. Hope this helps. Happy wrenching 🛠💣🔧🪛

@@bamjs-fungarageworkshop7603 i have the same problem. I replace only the bearing. It still do the same on big speed limiters. Super hard clunk and sometimes when i turn left to driver from parking lot.

Please beware of your suspension. If you have the air bags, please verify that they are 100% working. Sometimes the noise are coming from damaged air bags. You can ignore that if you’re going with normal suspension.

Hi - thanks for the reply, however I see the part number is for a right hand drive vehicle. Mine is a North American model and therefore left-hand drive. Would you happen to know the part number for that. Thanks
