In order to sell any item via Amazon FBA, your products need to have a barcode already on the packaging - but which barcode is best, where can you get them from and how much do they cost?
It's important that there should only be ONE barcode on your packaging. This could be a UPC barcode or FNSKU and I'll take you through the differences between both. I'll also demonstrate how to set up a barcode to walk you step-by-step through the process.

@@everready2903 not really... but you definitely want a SG1-UPC code. Brand Registry you need to have the trademark/brand legally completed. Brand registered account gets some extra perks. You like how some product pages are just bigger, a lot more information and pictures and videos and you keep scrolling down to see the ratings etc. that extra space and pictures and what not is like one of the perks a brand registered listing can do. optional.
Can product labels have GS1 UPC codes embedded, but the large FBA boxes filled with products shipped to Amazon have FNSKU products outside the boxes? Or should product label barcodes match with outside the box barcodes?
If I am planning to eventually sell online outside the Amazon (as well as on Amazon), then I should probably use UPC barcodes everywhere, to be consistent, right?

Thanks for your making a helpful video. I just wanna add something important.
As you've said that if you are selling phone case and if you want to sell 1000 case you just need 1 barcode for all those 1000 pieces but if there is a variation in colours or designs then you have to use another barcode to identify a different colour and design. For example you selling 1000 phone case and 500 are blue and 500 are red then you will need 2 separate barcodes and then generate 2 separate FNSKU then it will be alright.

Each variation needs its own number. So all colours, sizes, flavours etc needs it own one. but not each unit.

So I am a little confused. We are launching our first private label product and I went and bought the GS1 1-10 pack of UPCs. When I sent my supplier the barcode he showed me a much different bar code that others use. I can only assume that is the FNSKU sticker. So do we have both the UPC and the FNSKU on our packaging?

Hello Tatiana! Great Video... But I need to make sure I have this correct... If I am understanding this... The UPC Barcode from GS1 is basically worldwide "ownership registration" of my particular product that Amazon uses to make sure it is linked to my Brand name. They then use this to identify my product and produce the FNSKU barcode which is then linked to my "actual listing" on Amazon. I would then need to put the FNSKU onto my packaging to identify my product to my listing. Is this correct... I DO NOT need to put the UPC Barcode on the package only the FNSKU?

Hi Tatiana, great explanation! You're such a helping hand! However i just have one question. Say i order 500 units to send to amazon and I use #1 of the 10 barcodes for the 500 units. Once the initial 500 sell out and i place a second order of say 500 or 1000 units to amazon (replenishing order) can i use the same initial barcode #1 or will i have to use a 2nd barcode of the 10 barcodes i initially purchased?
If i understood correctly its only one barcode per product so if you are reordering the same product when you run out you use the same barcode but there is an annual renewal fee. If you have 10 barcodes you will get to find 10 different products to sell but you need to make sure you renew those barcodes.

Hi Tatiana, It seems pretty straight forward but in the beginning I understood that the FNSKU Sticker is for the product package and the UPC barcode is to create listing but at the end you mentioned to send both to the supplier. So I'm not sure...sorry. Canyon please clarify that again. So I should get my distributor to embed my barcode on my product packaging therefore it already has the barcode on it
But once it arrives at a Amazon fulfillment center they will then place their own SKEWS over your barcode for their warehouses ?
From my understanding, if you are having it packaged, it is best to have the FNSKU on it. You will receive the FNSKU after you create your listing, that is also what Amazon will use in their warehouse. You can then either send the FNSKU you received to your supplier so they can make stickers and place them on your packaging or have you graphic designer embed it into the package design.

Yes...one GS1 Barcode goes on all the 100 units of that product. Secondly you need to create a Listing on seller central account to generate FNSKU for each unit. Based on number of units, number of FNSKUs also generated, which you need to take soft copy of the same and send them to your supplier in PDF format to print and put it on each carton!
I get this, the only thing i dont understand is, she said we only have to use one sticker but here we have to stickers which we need to put on the packages, that is still confusing to me, anyne wants to explain it to me!?

What I understood with the calculator on GS1 website is that you need an UPC barcode for eah color and each size! So let's say I have a product with 2 different colors with 4 sizes, so I will need 8 barcodes! Again, I'm beginner too but it's what I understood from GS1 website and other youtubers. :)

No still the same cause it’s one barcode or each variation
@@thebabayyagga different pack sizes require their own number if they are in a package together. ie a pack of 4 snickers that has a wrapper to keep the 4 together has a different GTIN to the single.

What if you have 3 product variations, the same product but different colours? Do you need to put a different barcode for each variation? Or can you use the same one? All the colours will be in the same packing but I am hesitant to get the designer to put the FNSKU directly on the package because of the colour variations. Thank you!
My guess is 1 upc for the product regardless of colour but 3 different fnsku to differentiate the colours. When you send your product in they only need the fnsku on the actual product as that is what they scan and put into their inventory. When a customer orders one of your products they will look for that fnsku.
Doesn't Amazon require the FNSKU on every item for their inventory management and shipping, and you need the UPC for the original product listing but not necessarily on the product packaging?
