The thing about Johnson is this: None of his receptions look flashy, he's not making one handed snags like Odell. But then you realize that he's going over 2 or even 3 guys and making these receptions look easy. That's what's truly incredible.
Of fucking course he does, might not have the postseason success but his stats do not lie. I’m a die hard lions fan but put him on a team like the patriots, saints, or packers during his prime and he would be undoubtedly the goat wide receiver
teh Stunz falcons have a shot. However, I think the Cowboys will be the ones to lift a lombardi. Trade Julio just like the panthers did with steve smith, give him a chance like on the seahawks.
Mitchell I'm so fucking sick of ignorant people like you, do you now know that contracts expire? He could go anywhere he wanted to. He wanted to play for the city.
Evan The irony is that when he retires theyre in the playoffs. same with barry sanders when he retired, that year after lions were in the playoffs too. If i were as gifted as any of those dudes id play til im 50. honestly
He was tired of the wear n tear, no matter the size, the concussions, hits and injuries catch up with you, not only physically but mentally, glad he quit before he turned into a vegetable like Wes Welker.
It's going to be weird in a couple years when all of the WRs I grew up watching, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitz, Anquan Boldin, Steve Smith, and Megatron, will be retired. Do yall think Megatron should be in the Hall of Fame once he is eligible.? I do.
Sam Bryan The reason T.O isn't in is because he was never apart of a team. He only cared about T.O. Constantly bitching out people because he wouldn't get the ball enough. Complaining about his money, and just being a diva. Hall of fame doesn't just judge talent it also judges character.
So T.O playing on a fractured leg during the Super Bowl him just caring about him. When the doctors said his injury would take a few more weeks, and he went out there and played and had 122 yards. He was never in any off field problems.
Shnato Natural and hard work, in an interview the coaches said sometimes they had to take him out of practice because he was working too hard and needed a break. First one there, last to leave everyday
R14B He said and I quote "They hand out painkillers like candy," referring to the Detroit training staff, they were lazy and couldn't care for Calvin Johnson.
+Jake Jones im really glad matt ryan stopped almost doing the same thing but i mean he got thrown the ball when stafford knew he was about to get drilled he was broke
Sept.29th: Happy birthday Calvin "MegaTron" Johnson Jr.; 6 x Pro Bowl, 2006 ACC Player of the Year, NFL record 1,964 yards in a season. Thank you and God bless. Thanks for the upload, Joseph Vincent. You rock! Blessings
I’ve seen all the greats from the early 80’s to today. Calvin Johnson is the greatest receiver to ever play. He had it ALL. Size, speed, hands, strength, vertical, routes, toughness, loyalty, humility, work ethic. He is literally everything you could ever want in a football player. I don’t know if we’ll ever see anyone quite like Megatron again.
man as a bears fan I got to watch this guy two times a year and there aren't many guys I used to root for within the division but Megatron was one of them. The only guy I can think of that was fast enough to run past you, big enough to run thru you, and had the hops to jump over you to make the catch. he never won a super bowl but the HOF is in this guys future that's for sure. #MegatronHOF #CJ81
Heisenberg-SchrodingerEmc2 Calvin was stronger, had a much more diverse route tree and didn’t take plays off. Love Moss, greatest hands ever but I’m taking Megatron over him if I’m starting a team.
6'5 237, still ran a 4.35 40, dropped 329 yards on the cowboys in ONE game, had 1,921 yards in one season, and was virtually unstoppable downfield. Could practically jump over any DB. In one season, he had 96 receptions for 1,681 yards. Michael Thomas had 149 receptions for 1,725 yards. 53 less receptions, only 44 less yards. Had CJ been fed the ball as much as Thomas was, he would have had 149 receptions for 2,609 yards. 6x pro-bowler. Led the league in yards twice. Holds the all-time NFL record in receiving yards. Almost every game he played, it was like he hardly had any receptions but always had 180+ yards. At his best, no player in the NFL could stop him. Jerry rice had 22,000 yards after 21 years in the league. If CJ played 21 years, he puts up 27,000. He is the best receiver this league has EVER seen, and there is ZERO room for debate.
He's a once in a lifetime player. One can argue his prime is better then BOTH Jerry Rice and Randy Moss's prime. When you played him, you would be lucky if he didn't have 100 receiving yards. No doubt he would be a top 3 WR if he played at least 3 more years. Still deserving of the HOF
Nonsense. Moss's overall impact was far greater than Calvin's and translated to fucking points. Calvin was a beast but you do not understand big picture of offense whatsoever. Calvin had obvious limitations to his game which show top on stat sheet.
Jerry Rice is not shit compared to Megatron and Randy... Jerry Rice played with hall of fame quarterbacks while Calvin had fucking matt stafford and Randy Moss played with a long list of no-name, already forgotten quarterbacks before finally getting the chance to play a couple seasons with Tom Brady. Imagine Chad Johnson, T.O., Randy Moss, Megatron playing their entire careers with Aaron Rodgers/Tom Brady and tell me that they wouldn't blow jerry rice's stats right out of the record book
If my 66 years of living I have witnessed mr. Paul Warfield, Mr.Lynn Swann, the Drew Pearson, Randy Moss, and yes mr. Jerry Rice, and Terrell Owens, but there was no one like Calvin Johnson, better known as Megatron, he was truly excellent every time he was on the field. Only Mr.Barry Sanders can actually equal to what he did and that is two different positions Right On mr. Johnson, Right On 💎💯
As a vikings fan it was a pain watching megatron torch Rhodes but as a football fan I'm glad I'll be able to tell my kids I witnessed greatness every Sunday. Thank you calvin!

@Heisenberg-SchrodingerEmc2 Megatron was incrementally slower than Moss but was clearly more powerful than Moss. Both were generational talents but Megatron had it all.
Jon Ramsey ikr , he would be the greatest wr ever because he has a better qb. you look at other great wr and most of them had really good qbs.. and Stanford isn't bad but he ain't the best.
Solomon Leslie I think what contributed was the fact he was the best option for Detroit on the receiving end of the ball. I feel like Matthew Stafford is going to be remembered as a much better quarterback now that Calvin retired, but it was also because of the fact Calvin was targeted all of the time he had to retire.
Jon Ramsey That is not entirely true because if he had played on one of those teams then he wouldn’t have gotten near the yards he has now and probably would not be contending with Terrell Owens or Jerry Rice as the greatest receiver of all time
Evan chill.. top 5 is good enough. He retired too soon. jerry and randy are 1 and 2 or 2 and 1 depending on who you ask. Calvin can be argued as 3rd that's a hell of an accomplishment in itself.

I’m a huge Vikings fan, hell more of a fanatic really... my favorite player in the NFL now or ever is Larry Fitzgerald... but I’ll not hesitate to say I think Megatron was the one of those like Moss, a talent that for one reason or another just never got the real chance or push to really see how deep the talent went, and because of it we are left with a taste of brilliance and a question of just how amazing could it have been. He is the kind of player that you based your whole gameplan around and if you didn’t have a play you believed in, you just toss up to him and let him take over. Truly missed but much respect for leaving on your own terms and a huge thanks for all the amazing plays you gave us, even though you beat my favorite team around like eggs sometimes...
Growing up in Detroit he was a monster on the field and just couldn't miss him and he was a human videogame of madden on all madden level, if he was still playing right now we will be still talking about how great he is
02:10 The ball was thrown way behind him, he reads it, slams on the brakes, leaps *backward* fully extending his right arm and makes a one handed catch while he's almost horizontal, takes a hit from behind yet manages to pull it in for a clean reception. I can't think of anyone else who could have made that catch. Legend is the right word.
trollslayertim 92 Montana had Rice, Peyton had Harrison, Brady had Troy Brown, Dion Branch, Welker, Moss, Edleman, Amendola. It would’ve been nice if Megatron spent his career in NE. He’s a smart route runner
Hands down one of the greatest WRs with a bad ass Nick name. MEGATRON!!!! The man gave Detroit fans his all every week. He pulled a Barry Sanders because he was smart. Can’t blame the man. He listened to his body. His body said no more so he didn’t push it. The Lions actually wanted him to give back some of the money on his contract? Shows you how classy that organization is. A lot of players play past their expiration date and will definitely feel the effect of it post NFL. He’s definitely saving himself from more potential brain injuries. Sucks to see him retire early but happy that I got to witness the memories he made on the field. In my opinion, the most gifted and arguably the greatest WR ever. Calvin Johnson.
Man, how do you not have a Tim Duncan video? 5x NBA Champion, 3x Finals MVP, 2x Regular Season MVP. 13 Straight Seasons All NBA and All Defensive Teams. Old Man Riverwalk is the greatest PF hands down.
I remember thinking that Staford was elite and thinking he had one of the prettiest deep balls of all time... turns out 81 was his receiver. really wish I watched more of Calvin Johnson when I was younger
Stafford does have one of the best deep balls of all time, he still does it, CJ81 just made it that much better :) and I also wish I watched the Lions more growing up, I'm 19 and I didnt start watching until Calvin's last year :'(
I love how like Berry Sanders, Calvin Johnson wasn't just great, he's humble too. He didn't show off or do over the top celebrations. He was a team player through and through
I’m a Lions fan watched the day he got drafted to the day he retired but he wasn’t Jerry Rice maybe if he had 8 more seasons with 80 1200 8td and still Jerry probably best football player ever
I am a Patriots fan and I loved this guy so much for his greatness on the field but he was also very humble. I can't help but imagine what would have happened if he was on a great team like the patriots...
That bengals highlight where stafford is scrambling and johnson has 3 guys on him might be one of the plays in nfl history stafford and johnson are the most underappreciated duo ever and im a packers fan
Man I love this guy! Hes definitely a hof!! Glad hes not in our division anymore but at the same time it sucks that we will never get to watch him play again. Skol
お尻を食べます no he’s not lol Stanford is top 5 qb rn only ones better are Brady and idk who else if someone told me it’s the 2 minute drill who do you want I will take stafford every time
He was 6'5 237, ran a 4.35 40, and scored a 40 on the Wonderlic test (greatest ever by a wide receiver).
Nick C.A. wonderlic has nothing to do with skill
Peyton Daily no shit

a lot of these throws look like matt just went " fuck it Calvin make a play "
All his catches look flashy.
And that also tells you how much coverage he had too
His runs don't look flashy either because he usually just ran to the sideline and out of bounds. Dude was so good at staying healthy.

Shnato Natural and hard work, in an interview the coaches said sometimes they had to take him out of practice because he was working too hard and needed a break. First one there, last to leave everyday
Shnato have u ever heard of Randy Moss
Dylan Harper Think Megatron was more naturally gifted, not a lot between it though
Shnato the only player though right now in the NFL that reminds me of Calvin Johnson is Julio Jones
Connor Quattlebaum how at all? He is 3 inches taller, is faster, has more catches, yards, and tds?
It almost brings tears to my eyes that Calvin Johnson retired... my goodness he was so good!
“Were you a scrub?”
Im glad he got out of Detroit. They squandered his talent

Weegum Music shut up you don't even know if he is a kid
trollslayertim 92 Montana had Rice, Peyton had Harrison, Brady had Troy Brown, Dion Branch, Welker, Moss, Edleman, Amendola. It would’ve been nice if Megatron spent his career in NE. He’s a smart route runner
He is the best so....
4:38 - 4:56 best part of the entire video! What a beast.
He put in whale noises, lol.
Navarro bowman and Patrick Willis the best linebacker duo ever!!!
jacob ortiz yes! 👌
Just an incredible edit it gets me every time
Went from good to great,
Great to excellent,
And is chasing phenomenal.
Man, how do you not have a Tim Duncan video? 5x NBA Champion, 3x Finals MVP, 2x Regular Season MVP. 13 Straight Seasons All NBA and All Defensive Teams. Old Man Riverwalk is the greatest PF hands down.
Kenny Doogson because Tim Duncan and the spurs are boring. He's great top 3 pfs ever but boring.
Sam Bryan He's got plenty of great dunks, blocks and clutch shots, with a great personal story. Would make for an awesome video.
ratings cancer
this is awsome. we need more of steve smith
I remember thinking that Staford was elite and thinking he had one of the prettiest deep balls of all time... turns out 81 was his receiver. really wish I watched more of Calvin Johnson when I was younger
Stafford does have one of the best deep balls of all time, he still does it, CJ81 just made it that much better :) and I also wish I watched the Lions more growing up, I'm 19 and I didnt start watching until Calvin's last year :'(
@@whos.smokey dont worry, the second coming of calvin johnson has just arrived and his name is Kenny Golladay
@@heyitschris8888 it's crazy that we got him for a 3rd round pick. That man is a beast!
Stafford is elite!
this is the most beautifully edited video i’ve ever seen
He’s literally what you would create in a video game. The most physically talented man to ever play receiver
Forgot how good Calvin Johnson is
Djmax365 Was*
great*
Don’t read my profile picture man how he da GOAT
this is the best nfl channle by far
+nathan corrigall Thanks for the kind words
Joseph Vincent you should make a video on Terrell Pryor
Please someone tell me what's the song from 4:15 - 5:01 I've looked through all the tracks but can't see to find it. Thanks!
mhsKicks I got no idea lmaooo I answered 3 years late
Detroit loves you and appreciates everything you did for us
Out of all the receivers i respect the most, he is #1. If he kept playing, he would no doubt be the second greatest receiver of our era.
Who's here after he got inducted in the HOF?
This dude was the best to ever do it. His stats don’t show it due to his shit organization ruining him. Most gifted athlete I’ve ever seen in the nfl
Calvin should have played with Brandon Marshall omg two giants playing with each other
“Were you a scrub?”
I love how like Berry Sanders, Calvin Johnson wasn't just great, he's humble too. He didn't show off or do over the top celebrations. He was a team player through and through
Unquestionably one of the most gifted athletes of our time, and the greatest receiver the NFL has ever seen.
Forever waiting for a good Rodgers vid by you.
he better than jerry rice from a individual standpoint dude had it speed size and he didnt use stickem like jerry rice said he done when he played
Lolly Stew still gotta run the routes, have the speed and agility to get open and rice did it all the way to his 40s
I’m a Lions fan watched the day he got drafted to the day he retired but he wasn’t Jerry Rice maybe if he had 8 more seasons with 80 1200 8td and still Jerry probably best football player ever
@@bvswtwolves21 he could run routes too
I watch this video once a month as a lion fan it hurts...
I am a Patriots fan and I loved this guy so much for his greatness on the field but he was also very humble. I can't help but imagine what would have happened if he was on a great team like the patriots...
loved him as a kid growing up in the late 2000’s to early 2010’s and playing with him on madden and still love him
Im not crying you are😭
3:22 damn megaton *Thicc*
it honestly hurts to think about his knees and watch this
That bengals highlight where stafford is scrambling and johnson has 3 guys on him might be one of the plays in nfl history stafford and johnson are the most underappreciated duo ever and im a packers fan
Man I love this guy! Hes definitely a hof!! Glad hes not in our division anymore but at the same time it sucks that we will never get to watch him play again. Skol
Hakeem Butler "Optimus Prime"
G.O.A.T!!!!!!!!!
xX-AnGr-Xx yes indeed
xX-AnGr-Xx Can't spell goat without T o.!
Song at 4:46?
It was so fun watching stafford and megatron play. It made for some really fun football to watch.
4:57 I was at that game, it changed my life, we will miss you CJ
badass nickname
He was basically just a bigger Randy Moss. A lot similar styles..
Bigger, stronger, and more valuable to his team
@Subscribe to Pewdiepie Moss wasn't even faster. Johnson and Moss both ran a 4.3
Jervaughn Stewart on the field you saw moss was faster
@@TheYellowflash2012 Moss ran a 4.4
@@benmartin7090 very false. You saw him "faster" against inferior corners who probably ran a 4.7.
Do Matthew Stafford
SargeFTWGaming he doesn’t deserve it he’s the reason why Calvin had to retire
お尻を食べます no he’s not lol Stanford is top 5 qb rn only ones better are Brady and idk who else if someone told me it’s the 2 minute drill who do you want I will take stafford every time
That WarfareGuy Only QBs better then Stafford are Brady, Big Ben and Rodgers.
お尻を食べます the lions had a shit coaching staff while Johnson was playing.
lmao this nigga really trying to put Matthew Stafford above Aaron Rodgers? I wouldn't even put him above drew brees. He's like Eli Manning
This video makes me wanna cry. I miss the guy and I’m a Vikings fan, he was special
Did it with class. Stand up guy the whole way through, you love to see it.
Imagine if rodgers had megatron vice versa... Jesus christ
R.I.P. Megatron 2007 - 2016
Gotta give the quarterback some credit for the pinpoint throws that lets megatron make all of those catches
Matthew Stafford is an absolute GUNSLINGER!!! thank you both for your time in Detroit 🦁
