I own one of these Battery operated air pumps. Best thing I ever Owned I totally Agree These air pumps come in handy wean your power gos out. It has definitely helped me out on those occasions and help give me the piece of mind knowing my fish will be OK. The only problem I had was the air stone broke apart after I got it and used it but that was no big deal. I had replacement air stones on hand and just put a new one one and had no problems since.
I own 3 of these, helps me sleep better at night having a backup, besides the generator lol ,your fish room is coming together amazing, keep up the good hard work & keep us updated, as always happy fish keeping 💣 poof I'm gone 💥
What are your thoughts on marrying one of these with the marina hang on holding and breeding box? I picked one of them up today for a timeout container for my mbuna, thought of this video when setting it up and thought maybe it would be a good emergency idea. You could throw your bio in there and it could act as an emergency hob filter!
How long do you think the batteries will last? I want to set up a 10 gallon blind cave tetra tank with no lights or heater. Just a air powered filter and weekly water changes. Do you think that the batteries could last me at least a week therefore making me change my batteries once a week? I just want a tank that doesn't use up any power without live plants as i hate them (my personal opinion)
+Krilly2841 they wouldn't last you a week. Not even a full day. Plus the batteries would be so much more expensive than the power required to run an air pump that it just wouldn't be worth it. These are great as a backup though.
Found you on FishTube and I really like some of your videos (and there are more I want to watch) --- subscribed P.S. I have a couple of those but need about 20 for my tanks --- KEEP LOTS OF "D" BATTERIES because they don't last long enough LOL
Actually, I'm going to do a video on that - I don't do that either - but I keep a low bio-load and there are some old school tips that are cheap and easy to use - if you know them and are prepared --- I keep the battery pumps for when I'm transporting - I live quite a ways from stores and my aquarium society 60-120 miles depending on which store
If it can run an air stone, why not attach it to a small sponge filter which would also provide bubbles in case of a power outage? Wouldn't that be a better idea?
The battery pump would be too expensive to run instead of a regular pump. D batteries are pricey. The go to pump is the whisper series. They're not silent but they're not too bad.
I'll be going live on TH-cam anyone who is interested stop by and say what's up, ask questions about fish keeping or life in general hope to see everyone there as always happy fish keeping
Back when I looking at getting into SW reefs I remember coming across Jaebo batter back ups. Anyone heard of theses /tried them? I think they're a knockoff of a higher end model.
Steve, I was referring to the Jebao Coralbox Powercell for wave makers and DC Pumps. Apparently you can keep a wave maker going for 48 hrs with one of these. Pretty spendy at around a hundred dollars. Not sure if it would be appropriate for most people's fresh water hobby. I said it was a knockoff product because they seem to copy a lot of the Ecotech products which are, generally speaking, double, or triple the cost.
+wyzemann not that I know of. If you're facing a long outage then heat will definitely be an issue. Not much to do about that other than a generator or large battery backup.

I bought one of these a month or so ago. I haven't needed to use it yet, but I've got it just in case. Thanks for the vid!
Bang on Bud....these have saved my fishes life on a few occasions
Definitely a good idea to keep these on hand...in my area it seems like every storm that comes by knocks out the power!

Great tip Steve. I went all out and went with a backup power unit but still want one of these as a plan C
That looks a neat little gadget I'll have to go and check these out I am setting up a fry tank so this will come in handy thanks steve 👏👏🤘
+PsychedelicBabe thanks PB!
I have been planning to grab one of these for a while.....am thinking of purchasing a solar powered fountain pump too....
How long it works bro if 2batterys are place
I need this !
I can't recommend this enough. I tell everyone to keep at least one around.

+FloodXL that could work!

+Old School Fish Guy thanks! Yeah, with that many tanks it's probably easier to just get a big central battery backup

How long can it run on until the batteries die?
This is a very good investment
Only 10 hours? Mines 50 hours. 😌😏🙄
which one you have??
can I know how the battery can live? for a month?? orr what???
Is this a 2 watt or 5 watt.
do u need a longer air tube or the length it comes in is usable?
+Paris Barksdale depends on the size of the tank but most of the time you would probably want a longer one
It's a 75 Gallon.
Steve Poland Cichlids
When will u start adding fish to your grow out tubs
+Cichlid Wizard soon!
Good tip.
+Fish Behind Glass thanks!
Ohh is this just for incase of an emergency not to just have in there running??
what about the voltage specs?
Would you recommend a battery powered air pump instead of electric, to save on electricity, and would you recommend a quiet pump for 55 gallon tank?

How about sound ?

+tmbacz I'm not a reefer but I think Jaebo is a legit brand isn't it?

Hard to find d battery that rechargeable...
👏👏👏
Couple this with a battery powered heater and you're......hey wait....there's no such contraption.....or is there?
