  • We're back out on the big pond! After a brief break from fishing due to high water and weather, I managed to have an exceptional day of lake trout jigging on beautiful Lake Champlain. I'm willing to bet you've never seen anyone catch a laker on a drop shot in 100 feet of water, so I'm claiming to be the first to do so! Please sit back and enjoy these fantastic fish, and stick around till the end to watch how I prepared them for dinner!

She was a tank! Pretty wild how many lampreys she’s battled over the years. Gotta really suck not being able to get those things off! 😂

I don't know if "beauty" is the right word for Champlain lakers, but they are definitely bigand fun to catch. Nice one.

Nah you’re right 😂 please let me substitute “beauty” for “UFC Fighter.” I agree, I’ve caught lakers on several different VT lakes and Champlain has the ones that look like they’ve been through combat. They are definitely still big and fun, thank you my friend 🤝🏼

Awesome video! Curious, how long is your boat? Obviously you have to watch the weather and pick your day but I have a 16ft Sea Nymph I want to take out on Champlain.

Thank you very much! My boat is a Tracker Pro Team 190TX, I think it’s 18ft 7 inches or right around there. It’s also aluminum so I have to pick my days according to the wind as well. I use an app called Windy to check out how hard it’s blowing. I’ve found it to be the most reliable. Anything over 8 or 9mph sustained winds I probably won’t be ‘offshore’ jigging for lakers!

Lamprey scars on that big laker.

Yeah I remember seeing at least 4 on the big laker. Gotta be a tough life down there with lampreys looking to latch on like that
