As a teenager born in Hong Kong speaking Cantonese, his pronunication is definitely impeccable and very correct. His way of spoken Cantonese has never been affected by English.
I don't know why but I didn't expect Bruce's Cantonese to be this fluent. On the other hand, he was making movies as a child actor in Hong Kong in the 50s already. In the recording, Bruce mentioned about a scene in which a song should be written about "the ways of martial arts". I wonder if Bruce ever considered asking his Golden Harvest studio mate, Sam Hui, to write it. Vincent, you probably know who Sam is. It seems Bruce and Sam had a quite a friendship. Honestly, Bruce Lee's cantonese is definitely accurate and fluent. As you know, Bruce Lee lived with his wife and both son and daughter. I'm pretty sure Bruce had no chances to speak Cantonese before he moved back to Hong Kong in 1971. So, I think it's quite amazing to see he speaks cantonese very well even most people around him speak English.

Bruce Lee to me is like this huge, legendary icon, so far beyond that of a normal person like myself that he can only be admired from afar. He goes by the name Lee Jun Fan, not Li Xiaolong in Mandarin. As a side note, Bruce Lee has very little ties to China. He was born in the US, grew up in Hong Kong, and then moved to the US for his career. Why I like Cantonese and Japanese is because there is an emotional content in the form of the language. It doesn't sound like they are singing per se, but that the tones move in such a way that what they say, they can express clearly and without any extra filler without being rushed. I’m from HK and I just realised I have never heard Bruce Lee spoken in Cantonese, so I searched up and found this. It’s very interesting and funny at the same time because the way he speaks, the tone and words used are very old fashioned and some words were more like written Chinese forms, which we would find it strange in today’s conversation. But i guess that’s the way people speaks Cantonese in the 70-80s . But I am almost in tears just to hear him speak in Cantonese , a mix feelings of like listening to an old friend speaking , although I was born a long time after he died.

Americans are dubbed in some other countries. There is not enough time to learn a language for a film. There are so many markets all over the world. I guess you prefer reading subtitles. I never had a problem with this, in fact, it helped me learn more about other cultures even European dubbed films.

Like European movies (Westerns, Peplum, Eurospy, and Giallo) Just look at "Django" 1966 Franco Nero's voice is dubbed, then watch "Django 2" he uses his real Italian accented voice. I work in the film industry and This is what he meant by "sound issues", The sound was added after filming because there is no "quiet on the set" and you need punching/kicking sound effects. The crew is speaking different languages in the background. But it's the same voice we've been hearing. Just in Cantonese. Apart from the English dubbed movies, we've heard his voice, especially in the movie known all over the world, Enter the Dragon. I've never heard him speak in Cantonese before. Assuming this really is him, he is speaking the correct and authentic Cantonese particular to his period without any filler words or words borrowed from English, except for "cut" and "section". His speech is as clear and fluid as his moves. RIP Bruce. After you, there's Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, Jackie Chan, but even now they are now in their 70s. After them, there is no more. They are the last of the great generation.

At a point in his life Bruce began his journey into Martial Arts (back in his young hong kong gang days) and reached levels never before imagined. I think he was born an artist though. So he already possessed an innate sense which served him well in that quest and developed further along with it. Bruce was more than just a martial artist master, but also an actor, director and anything else he wanted to become. We can all take a note from his book.

I don't know why but I didn't expect Bruce's Cantonese to be this fluent. On the other hand, he was making movies as a child actor in Hong Kong in the 50s already. In the recording, Bruce mentioned about a scene in which a song should be written about "the ways of martial arts". I wonder if Bruce ever considered asking his Golden Harvest studio mate, Sam Hui, to write it. Vincent, you probably know who Sam is. It seems Bruce and Sam had a quite a friendship. Even to this day, Bruce's daughter, Shannon, and her daughter (Bruce's granddaughter), often appear as musical guests of Sam's concerts in the US.

Honestly, Bruce Lee's cantonese is definitely accurate and fluent. As you know, Bruce Lee lived with his wife and both son and daughter. I'm pretty sure Bruce had no chances to speak Cantonese before he moved back to Hong Kong in 1971. So, I think it's quite amazing to see he speaks cantonese very well even most people around him speak English.

Bruce Lee to me is like this huge, legendary icon, so far beyond that of a normal person like myself that he can only be admired from afar. But the first time I hear him speak in cantonese, especially the first line, about father mother (lol) I felt so much closer to him, the familiar rough sounding typical informal cantonese, it's like having a conversation with one of my friends.
I have always been a fan of his fighting style since I was a kid, but now that I m grown, I realised he was a true legend. ☀️🖤

His voice, the way he speaks. Make me feel warm. Reminds me of my late great grandmother. Their charisma and vocals sounds identical.
Why I like Cantonese and Japanese is because there is an emotional content in the form of the language. It doesn't sound like they are singing per se, but that the tones move in such a way that what they say, they can express clearly and without any extra filler without being rushed. No "Ums, cuz, like, uh, er," strictly flowing as a whole movement. The East is Beast.

I’m from HK and I just realised I have never heard Bruce Lee spoken in Cantonese, so I searched up and found this.
It’s very interesting and funny at the same time because the way he speaks, the tone and words used are very old fashioned and some words were more like written Chinese forms, which we would find it strange in today’s conversation. But i guess that’s the way people speaks Cantonese in the 70-80s .
But I am almost in tears just to hear him speak in Cantonese , a mix feelings of like listening to an old friend speaking , although I was born a long time after he died.

Americans are dubbed in some other countries. There is not enough time to learn a language for a film. There are so many markets all over the world. I guess you prefer reading subtitles. I never had a problem with this, in fact, it helped me learn more about other cultures even European dubbed films.

Like European movies (Westerns, Peplum, Eurospy, and Giallo) Just look at "Django" 1966 Franco Nero's voice is dubbed, then watch "Django 2" he uses his real Italian accented voice. I work in the film industry and This is what he meant by "sound issues", The sound was added after filming because there is no "quiet on the set" and you need punching/kicking sound effects. The crew is speaking different languages in the background. Assuming this really is him, he is speaking the correct and authentic Cantonese particular to his period without any filler words or words borrowed from English, except for "cut" and "section". His speech is as clear and fluid as his moves. RIP Bruce. After you, there's Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, Jackie Chan, but even now they are now in their 70s. After them, there is no more. They are the last of the great generation.

At a point in his life Bruce began his journey into Martial Arts (back in his young hong kong gang days) and reached levels never before imagined. I think he was born an artist though. So he already possessed an innate sense which served him well in that quest and developed further along with it. Bruce was more than just a martial artist master, but also an actor, director and anything else he wanted to become. We can all take a note from his book.
