Beautiful pearl gourami ! I have just same fish hier. You are from SA, I was there just last december. Amazing country full of nature and culture. Love it.
I've kept many different gouramis over the years. The only time I have done a successful "surgery" on a fish was to remove a worm from the side of a kissing gourami. The fish recovered and lived for quite a while afterwards. When I was in college in the 70s, I was breeding blue three-spot gouramis. One evening while I was out on a date, my pair spawned. When I got home, he had chased her behind the heater, burning her on one side. I tried everything, but she passed a couple of days later. The male was an attentive dad, taking care of the bubble nest, but I removed him after the spawn started swimming. I liked these fish, but I wouldn't put them with fishes much smaller than themselves. Cheers!
Pearl Gouramis are my favorite centerpiece fish all around. I had one briefly when in college, but I couldn't keep the tank for long because I had to move. Now I can't wait to recreate that tank with pearl gouramis again, bigger and better than the last.
One of my favourites. Had them for a few years. Aggression can be a bit of a problem I've found. Plant cover and more females are a must. My big male is stunning but he's not called Bully for no reason!
I am moving to Boksburg from Durban in June and I would like to have a Pearl Gourami as my centerpiece in a 200L tank that I have dragged around the country. PS: I just noticed today that my Lemon Tetras have had babies. They are big enough not to be eaten... I think lol. But sadly I might give them away when I move 😢 Love the channel!
@@droeksonfishkeeping I can't part ways with it. Not when I am so close to setting it up. We have moved three times in 4 years and I haven't let it go 😄 I have a soft spot or this little glass rectangle.
No, but they do have a lot of space and cover. I find the aggressive gouramis are the Three Spot/Blue/Cosby Gourami, occasional Dwarf Gourami and Kissing Gourami (although those issues can often be overcome with right numbers and tankmates).
Well done!

Beautiful fish, have you ever had any problems with the pearl gourami being aggressive towards the honey gourami?
No, but they do have a lot of space and cover. I find the aggressive gouramis are the Three Spot/Blue/Cosby Gourami, occasional Dwarf Gourami and Kissing Gourami (although those issues can often be overcome with right numbers and tankmates).
👍
Ive never kept gourami. Beautiful fish though
beautiful fish. I like the extensions on the dorsal and anal fins
They're dazzlers lovely, do you happen to know what would be the largest gourami species found in the hobby?
The giant Gourami I believe
@@benjaminwashburn8473 Great thanks
I just keep females. Just as pretty in my opinion and calm and gentle..
They jump.
