I want to be in Drum Corps so bad, but I know I'll never be this good. I mean, I'm the best percussionist at my High School, but I'm nowhere near 16ths-at-200bpm-and-9lets-over-the-bar good.
morenorristhannorris never doubt yourself dude, if you work hard enough you can get up to their level. im currently thinking tge same thing but practice only makes things better :)
morenorristhannorris i know exactly how you feel! Rn I am probably one of the best drummers in my school, but I don't know if I have what it takes to get into a drum corps. We haven't had a consistent tech for more than one year, and we get new ones every year, and they usually don't know much about DCI and such, so it's hard to really learn when there's nobody to learn from.
Yeah, my tech only cares about snare drum. Literally every one else gets ignored, and he's not even that good at snare, so basically no one in my percussion section learns anything. I'm getting better though; I love marimba, and the main thing I need to do is just work on my chops. Some of the stuff in this like the double stroke run in this video is beyond me right now
Learn stuff like this on your own time! Or bring it up with someone more experienced than you to give you pointers. I know lessons can be prohibitive for some people, but they are an option. Find corps that offer camps and stuff and go to those! If you want it, you can do it!
As a vocalist the advice I would give the singer is to darken her sound and think in a British accent for vowels. Basically just really get into the music. But even then this is really awesome im excited for It Is.
so much that's an extra addition in this arrangement is straight up campy. i get that you're scared of people getting bored, but giving them random stabs at the rate of a fucking serial killer isn't cool, it sounds stupid. taking the music of someone who's generally pretty aware and making it kinda tone-deaf with remarkably few changes, not even including the vocalist.
2:15-2:32 horn feature. Calling it right now
This will be the show that will win. Most creative I've seen so far.
Anthony Giles Of what? We haven't even seen any of the actual shows yet, just percussion!
I know... just a hunch.
rip
@@flamflamflam Heh, sorry but BD somehow takes the stinking title 90% of the time
This aged well
I want to play marimba for crown so badly! Maybe in a few years :D
Have you?
Dude, yes. That orchestration is insane.
Very Percussive I love it Go Crown!
1:10 ... this looks like so much fun to play! Who designed runs like this? It sounds so mysterious and beautiful!
I like everything but the background vocals
josh d look up Andy Akiho no one to know one you might like the vocals more in the original piece. I for one did.
So first she lost her sense of direction, the she has it again. What is happening???
@@kylesongy6986 thats the point of the original i think, the vocals arent supposed to make any sense

Why is there a smiley face at 0:19???
Cause the sequence notes is obvious sticking wise (just doubles) so smiley haha
Simile but without the first "i" lol
its their cheesy way of saying "good luck lmao"

The best percussionist in a high school who can't play 16ths at 200 bpm
Just realized that the new ending they just put in was in this video from the beginning lol
Crown 2017 coming out and sounding like Bloo 2016
Does anyone know if there was a dci show that has used steel drums? Also, does anyone know the vibraphone part at 1:00
The Boss1234567890 coats tilt
The Boss1234567890 1983 SCV used steel pans
Damn Jay
This would hurt me mentally
What else has that pit part at 1:50 been in?
Bluecoats 2015 Kinetic Noise closer? They did similar isolated dead strokes like that.
Jeffrey Wilson It also kind of sounds like cavaliers 2008.
Ah, but without the flute, piano, bass clarinet and cello, it is a whole different sound world.

Melodic Bottle x go watch Andy Akiho's NO one To kNOW one and you'll understand why the vocals sound like they do.
I have I was going off of that
It's still good regardless. The different venue just makes it sound less full.
Steel pan.... at least it's repetitive
not even close to the master piece of andy akiho...........
Except he himself wrote this version! He was formerly a member of Crown.
