I listened to this when it came out but only now did I do a proper reading of the lyrics. I never really appreciated this song as much as Wendy's other recent releases (Gonghang-ro, Girls) because honestly, I thought her vocal tone here doesn't quite mesh with Yerin's, which to me was quite silky (and too enticing lol). But after reading the lyrics, all the artistic choices suddenly make sense! Yerin's tone is her usual smooth and feminine vocal color but Wendy chose a rougher texture, with lots of fry (it doesn't sound sultry to me-- "Time after Time" Wen was sultry). I thought before that they were just singing alongside each other, but now realize that they are speaking to each other. This song is about breaking up and them "chasing every last moment of their remaining time" together as @butcher7406 said. It's very likely a secret relationship, and Wendy's line "I can't do what my body and heart tell me to do/ Why can't I?" says it all.. They clearly love each other but external circumstances are forcing them to separate. Yerin is trying to cherish and preserve the memories of their last time together but Wendy has already accepted that their relationship needs to end, and instead she is longing for that far-off future when they can be together again -- presumably when the "circumstances" will no longer be a hindrance.
The music video is actually a bit of a fake out. It muddies the intention/meaning of the song! It diverts from the fact that both voices in the relationship are female. That's why I think this song is subversive and also Wendy's boldest and most exciting in her solo discography, and not just because it dives into R&B.
I must say, I am very very impressed by Wendy singing this. It's a brave move for a mainstream K-pop idol. I don't know if these topics are typical in KR&B (or even alt/underground KR&B) in conservative Korea, but I'm so proud of Wendy for exploring them. I think Wendy is yet to bloom and there are so many sides of her she has only just begun to express. My excitement for her next solo has now skyrocketed. I can see her exploring not just other musical styles (modern/alt R&B) but different subject matters as well, SM permitting.
Lastly, Code Kunst seems to know what he's doing but it is also the presence of Sumin, a highly respected artist (who wrote Look and Eyes Locked, Hands Locked), that I'm hankering for in Wendy's next solo. I'm hoping for an enduring collaboration so Wendy will be, as @iamtiredlol
said, "surrounded by talented people" equal to her in drive, and Wendy can be in her element and really thrive. Recently (RV3 preparations), Wendy recommended the whole "Remember Archive" album to luvies on bubble. I wish that was an indication of the direction she's headed to next 💙💙💙💙stoked for Wendy!

something about the simplicity of this song makes it even more beautiful. based on my interpretation of the lyrics, it feels very much of a breakup song to me that is in the metaphor of the world ending. the expected feeling that their relationship is coming to an end, the pov seems like they're still very much attached to the supposed relationship although the breakup feels mutual at the same time. with that in mind, when baek yerin sang her verse, it still sounds a bit hopeful maybe bc in a way she still believe that there might be a chance for them to get back together. but when wendy sang it, it doesn't seem like she's not so sure at all for that. wendy's verse is even apologizing that their relationship fell short on her end. instead she's reminiscing through their memories together but she's desperately want to be together still but can't. instead, she's reassuring herself that rather than regretting, maybe in another time when they meet again not in this lifetime, she is confident that they will fall in love again and be together
