This week we jump back into the foundation hole and talk installation. We actually see the blocks getting installed. We have walked through the properties and the preparation for using the “Perfect Block”. Today we have a call to action. Join us as we install the blocks. We caught the guys installing the blocks and we were able to catch up on any tips and tricks they have figure out. Of course “Big Red” joins us as we look at the detail where the foundation meets the floor frame. We talk about the benefits of some of the decisions we made. Any update at all on using Perfect Block? Considering it as well, but its find to any information from people that either have done it or are doing it now - other than from the Manufacture.
Great video. Could you show where the air barrier and water barrier are on the perfect block assembly.
Great question. How do you water proof this system? I would think it would leak like crazy.
Looking to build an ICCF foundation. Just having a problem seeing a solid connection point in this video / diagram for the I Joist hangers as described. With the 2x10 and blocking, then 2x4's sitting on top of that, just don't see a solid attachment point for the hangers??
I think it could be for me. Do you need to seal the outside that contacts the backfill?
The company has a some great accessory tools like a cutting jig and a quick plumb and level gauge.

Great details & I'm excited about these new Perfect Blocks!
Just to make sure I understand the Big Red details of the Saddle Hanger & use of Nails with the Perfect Blocks:
1. This Simpson hanger has only a 3" flange ... to sit on the perfect block? Doesn't that mean the hanger only rests on just perfect block (Foam - Concrete Composite) and not the concrete poured inside the perfect block?
I was expecting the hanger to extend far enough rest fully on the concrete fill area, about 6" ???
2. Are you saying with these blocks... we can Nail into the Foam-Composite to attach the hanger onto the blocks?
Another detail I wondered about Steve ... that 1-1/2" Avantech (2@3/4" layers I guess) subfloor was carried all the way to edge of structure. Without a Zip-R detail on the outside won't we have No Water, Air, Vapor, & Thermal break control layers missing on that 1-1/2" strip around the entire structure? Does a fluid applied or taped barrier get applied over it for the Air, Water & Vapor control layers?
Brother, I'm sure I'm missing or don't really understand something.

Is it correct that floor truss system will sit on top of small additional plate which is laying on top of perfect block interior shell? Will it crack or buckle or just peel of from the core with truss hanger? Thanks for your videos!
Good Job? How high of walls can you go up with these blocks? Looking for a material to get 18' high and roof with bar josts. Thanks!
How do you fasten exterior furring strips for siding? Tapcons?
Any video showing how ro drywall with ICCF? Thanks!
What kind of concrete are you using? Traditional linestone will get hung up in those channels. So just changing stone size? Or whole design mix?

My first impression of the 3" air-gap in the upper framing isn't thermal qualities. It's a giant space for critters to take up residence.
Can it be installed with concrete mortal like normal center block??
How do you fasten to it?
What is measurements and weight this block??
How does this product hold up in humid climates? My goal is to keep the home as cool as possible prior to installing AC
What kind of glue are you using?
Ok, so you plum with shims. Then what? Do you leave the shims in and fill the gaps with more foam adhesive? What's the risk of a blow-out?
Build Show: Everyone shows videos of this block being laid and FEW videos of the finished house, or how drywall and backing is completed, how siding or stucco is installed, etc. It would be great to get a follow-up video on this product, as this is 3 years old and all we here about it is the silence...
Thia video is a good proog to show these perfect blocks are really time consuming.

the wall on the interior side, under the truss-joist lands on the footing? Your detail doesn't show how that wall is tying into the foundation.
How do you block in the corners?
They explained that in part 2
The manufacturer uses metal straps in their videos of construction, including a 15 ft wall. The straps remain after grouting and tie into the adjacent full size blocks. This blocking is the builder's option.
Why not use concrete instead?
Why not just continue the perfect block all the way up?
Why would you do a wood framed wall instead using perfect block? Imo, wood framed walls are so compromised.

Great show. But microphone is needed terribly.
I'll bet they use 10,000 cans of that foam "mortar," that it gets on their clothes & skin, that they're breathing toxic fumes from it, that there are gaps that will allow water penetration, and that in the south in the summer the working time isn't 5 min, but more like half a minute. Better get every single one plumb and level right away!
You get 775 linear feet per 24 oz can per Dupont (goes farther than a caulk product). They are using the foam in accordance with the SDS. You can actually plumb it first and then use the straw to inject the foam. If they had sufficient working time in ~90 degree weather, working time down south would be sufficient, especially if injection after plumbing.
