Russell Westbrook 2022/23 Season so far 10 Games 16.1 pts - 6.3 ast - 5.6 rebs 1.4 stl - 0.4 blk - 3.6 TO Not bad, coming off the bench definitely helped, hes shooting better as of lately and hes scoring efficiently. Those turnovers are still super concerning considering last season he had 3.8/game and hes playing 5 less mins and still turning the ball over at the same rate. 4.5 TO in the per 36s is just insane, especially for a 6th man. His defense is still poor, especially given the athleticism he still has, he should be significantly better defensively. Hes also been a high IQ player in the past and as of the last 3/4 seasons his IQ seems to have gotten worse which should never happen to a basketball player of his caliber. Russ is still bad. His counting stats and box scores look a lot more productive but watching him play is still hard to watch. Russ has always been a fun player to watch, he cares and is passionate......but it just isnt enough to distract you anymore from how inefficient he can be. To be fair, he is shooting a bit better from 3 so far, but 3% to a 32.5%.....still not great though is it? Ill happily give Russ all the credit once hes reitired. Hes had a legendary career, but Im not shocked he hasnt won any team awards. Hes just not the type of player you win with. Hes a guy to get the crowds in the door, hes the type of guy who will play his heart out (even though it doesnt exactly translate to wins) and hes just plain not efficient. Hes not an efficient basketball player, and hes not someone that contributes significantly to winning unless hes shooting 30 times a game and even then youre a .500 team (like the Wizards version or his last years in OKC) I love Russ and do think he deserves respect as a legend in the game. But I also like being realistic. This isnt by any means a comment on the person Russ is. I think if youre attacking a players person when discussing basketball, you gotta rethink your priorities. I just think Russ is and always has been Russ. Last season showed he doesnt take any accountability basketball-wise. I think Russ is not a good basketball player, but im sure hes a great guy.
