Just installed my cruise control. I watched and saved this video over 4 years ago. Just got the bravery to remove my airbag and install today. IT WORKS! You just made my travels so much easier!

Hi there, great video! Im thinking about installing my own cruise control cuz i bought my used prius c without realizing it even had cruise control and dealer did not tell me that it had one and that it was broken. I know nothing about cars or wiring and I dont have a 1 1/2 inch hole driller. i dont have a problem buying the parts of the hole driller but any advice on if i should try to install it myself or just take it to a shop and have them do it for me? is it a big risk for a beginner like me?
Do i need to follow the same procedure for my Toyota Aqua 2011?

Those small connector pins are called molex pins. There are multiple sizes available. Lots of different tools to install and replace them as well. Just google them. I worked with them numerous times on my coin-on amusement route i used to own and operate. Great job on the install. I am impressed with your ability to learn as well as implement newly acquired skills with ease! A true gift! The learning part is always the most fun I think. EPIC close on the vlog and facial expression on the Coke comment! Be hard to top that one! =D
Tom Knight ahhhh mole pins!!! I may have been able to Google and find how to make the cords instead of having to shell out $100 for two little wires. Thanks for the tip! glad you enjoyed the install! I hope to contribute to the world and make it a little easier for the next guy who tries to install it.
Here is a link to a supplier that i used. This is the North American division. It is geared to the coin-op gaming industry, but molex pins and connectors are universal. You can actually build or design your own harnesses. Taking the pins out does require extractors, and i would highly recommend tin tipping the wire with solder before crimping. I just searched amazon and I found a $39 kit. DOH! I failed as a bargain hunter =( It wasnt being ranked in the search for prius but it came up for toyota now that I know that the molex pins are sorta universal. DOH DOH DOH homer simson moment haha
Did you ever figure out what size the molex pins were? I found the CC stick for $20, but it doesn't come with the two wires I need. I was hoping I could just buy some pins and crimp them myself.

Have you connected only 2 wires? 1 minus and 1 in the computer plug? I just have a wiring diagram and there are 4 wires connected. from the steering wheel 2 and 2 from the frog brake!

The connectors at the end of the wires is crucial. I purchased several different kinds until I got the correct ones that fit properly into the connector. Let me know if you need a few. Ray

These instructions are only good through 2014. A big advantage to the Rostra.com kit is they include instructions and photos that cover the 2015 through 2017 models. There is a kit on Amazon for $39.99 with free shipping. It includes the wires and a replacement escutcheon with a hole, but the escutcheon doesn’t fit the Prius C and the ground wire is a bit too short.Most of it is the same, but from 2015 on, the ECU plug is the second one down on the left, and the wire goes into the bottom right corner.
Paul King is that bottom right when it’s in the car? Or bottom right when it’s oriented as it is at 7:50?
For 2015,2016 It's the second down ECU plug, the upper right corner hole, when the plug it's on the car.
Went to Toyota about the 2015. It shows the brown wire to the second plug, bottom right , when plugged into socket. Hope this helps someone.
I followed these instructions on my 15 Prius C, and still no luck. I did the switch and both wire, ground and ECM. Still no illumination of cruise

Nope, it has about 155k now I think.
@@thecollegepicker Darn it my Prius has a different setup because it was previously a fleet vehicle so it has an old tracker wired in. I have no idea how to go around this.

@thecollegepicker So I did the exact instructions by collegepicker. I have a Toyota Aqua 2012 S model, I bought a kit and installed it the only problem I have is there is an error message on the dash (Cruise System Check) and the cruise control light turns on then off after a second or two.
The only way I can make the cruise control light to stay on is by keeping the brake lights on meaning by I have to press the brake pedal.
Do I need to replace my brake light switch to make it work?

Wondering if you can help me. I wired into a 2013 Prius C exactly as your video shows, yet I have no cruise control. The pins went in the full depth and they can be seen from the connector interface end just like all the other pins. But no cruise. I grounded it to a different bolt than you did but it is a ground able connection. Do you have any suggestions. I had to purchase numerous types of pins until I had a version that works perfectly.

Pro tip turn the Steering wheel upside down then you don’t need to undo the airbag wires at all it will just nicely sit on the Steering wheel

I have a 2016 and looking at my ecm connected it looks alot more different than yours, could it possibly be pre wired and I just have to plug the stick into the port in the steering wheel?
This will only work up to 2014 to my knowledge when I did research. 2016 would be a different way.

Hi man. I'm trying to install the cruise control in my Toyota Prius c follow your instruction but I have really bad time inserting the control wire into the connector. There is a particular way to insert those wires (ground amd control) in the connector contactor. Hopefully you understand my question
Whats up dude, I honestly dont exactly remember, I think I pressed them in with a tool and they clicked but I dont remember their orientation, I would say try it one way, then rotate 90 degrees only 4 possibilities if its limited by the orientation. Good luck and I hope you get it going. Our is still going strong.

I have a 2014 Prius C. I bought the cheap kit and tried to install today using this video (thanks TCP, went pretty much as depicted). Unfortunately, CC didn't work. Still doing some troubleshooting. The Molex connectors for the signal and ground were being stupid when I was trying to get them to seat in the steering column harness plug. I'm thinking they might not be making contact. Also, had to extend the ground wire with Scotchloks. Ground is too short as Paul King pointed out. Does anyone know why most of the Prius install instructions skip the signal and ground wires altogether?

I have a 2014 One trim n bought an aftermarket kit. I tried going to mechanics but they tell me it would need to be programmed so I need to take it to a Toyota dealer. Is this "needed programming" real or bs cuz they're afraid to touch a hybrid?

I got my 2009 Nissan Cube in palm springs for 6k, from the first owner, with 59k miles, and drove it to LA where it now resides. I still haven't taken it apart or anything. I need to learn about cars so I can take perfect care of it..

I got mine on eBay or Amazon from a kit. I put a link on the description of the video. I'm not sure if it's standard molex sorry I wish I knew. Cruise still works great to this day 🙌🙏

Molex connection I think. They have different sizes I think. Such a rip-off to buy them, would cost like $5 to make.

Where did you buy the cables from? I have a 2014 Prius C One, plugged in my cruise control with harness and it's not activating, dealer was of no help, saw you're video and realized they didn't install the wire to the ecm. Maybe that's my fix.
I got my kit off Amazon of ebay I think I put a link in the description.

I'm getting conflicting instructions for the brown wires location for my 2015 Prius C one. Top plug (as for 2014) and second plug for 2015. Does anyone know or have experiance with 2015. That's all I lack to be finished. Thanks

I need help. I did everything you said. I used the brown wire and the black ground wire. Now, my horn is in a constant state of honking the second the cones connect and I tried turning on the cruise control to see if the symbol shows up on the dash and it doesn't .

I see this video is 6 years old and know those wires with the special female terminals are long gone 🤣😆! Being the Prius is a 2013, there was something in common with my 2013 Tacoma base cab, 2wd, 2.7L 4 cylinder model, they both need the black ground and the brown lead to the ECM. The black connector under the steering column looks just like the S8 connector under mine (2 rows of 6) , the ECM's are of course different due to application. I'm hoping the individual that said the terminals are Molex is correct and I can find the size required. I bought and installed all the other hard parts, and the clutch switch connector for the cruise was there in the harness.

I grabbed a cruise control kit but can't seem to get the wiring to work. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but cruise won't turn on after putting the wires in the spots everyone says to do. I'm so frustrated over this.
