I really like your video, they are really impormative and concise. Thank you very much for how simple you make the law of tort sounds.

Hello I am studying LLB in Australia, and I found your videos very helpful. Our laws are pretty much the same, arent they? :)Thanks.

Hi Sarah, I appreciate this is an old video but I recently enrolled in an LLB and I am finding your content very helpful! When I first read the question, my immediate thought was that the college also had a duty of care given that Susan was a minor with no experience. I find it hard to believe that a 16 year old would have such a duty in this given scenario. Would really like to hear why this is not the case. Paul

Mullins v Richards says that children are compared to children of the same age. In a professional setting, somebody at the age of 16 would be compared to another 16-year-old learner. But of course Nettleship v Weston tells us that standards may rise but may not fall so a trainee childcare practitioner would have to be compared to a qualified to childcare practitioner.

If for example the scenario had more than one person would you continue this method through out?

You wouldn't want to repeat the law you've cited as that we be a waste of precious exam time. Instead you'd just focus on application for person two. I'd find it unlikely that an examiner would have the same issues for both claimants/defendants so look out for different issues or areas of focus.

    Question A
Hello, would you help me briefly explain to me which topic of Torts and rules I will apply in this scenario. Sorry... this is my revision scenario.
Ron was in his final year of school and he wanted to go to university to study engineering. Ron was a star student, achieving high grades in all of his subjects. Despite being a high achiever, Ron disliked going to school every day because of one his classmates, Michael.
Before going to school every day, Ron would vomit and be distressed by the idea of having to go to school. At the start of each school day, Michael would stand on a chair in the classroom, point his finger at Ron and sing very loudly:
    Roses are red,
    violets are blue,
I thought Lord Voldemort was ugly,
    but then I saw you!
After Michael would sing this, he would step down from his chair, walk over to Ron and hit Ron over the head. The class would always laugh at Ron every time Michael would do this. Whenever Ron saw Michael, he would do his best to try to run away or hide from Michael.
Ron was a quiet person and he preferred to stay in the library to read his own copy of The Lord of the Rings during the lunch break. Every second day, Michael would go into the library to find Ron. When Michael found Ron, he would push him off a chair and call him names. One lunch time, when Ron was reading his favourite book, The Fellowship of the Rings, Michael came and took the book of out Ron’s hand. Ron begged Michal to give the book back to him, but Michael refused and ripped the book into two. When Ron started to cry Michael yelled at him, ‘I hate you because you think you are so smart. Don’t be such a cry baby or I will hit you again.’
A few days later, Ron was sitting on the ground outside of the school library when he saw Michael walking towards him while kicking a football. Michael kicked the football towards a wall but it rebounded, hitting Ron in his face. Michael did not see Ron and tried to apologise but Ron panicked and stood up to run away. As Ron turned abruptly, he ran into the school principal, Mr Stink, who was walking towards the library. Mr Stink was an elderly man. When Ron collided into him, Mr Stink fell to the ground and suffered a broken arm.
Ron became so distressed about breaking Mr Stink’s arm he refused to go back to school, and he failed his final year of studies.
Advise what cause of action is available in torts for Ron, Mr Stink and Michael, if any.

I think you need to focus on trespass to the person and psychiatric injury
