@@geoffjones8792that’s good to hear. Sad to see them leave. They told me they were not sure what was happening with the property. I assume the owner of the property either sold or has a development deal in place. 1947… that’s a long time! 😢😢😢
Dang it, I always go to my mom and pop hardware before I go to Lowe’s or Home Depot, you actually get real help and not attitude and laziness at those big box stores. More people need to stop keeping up with the joneses so they can pay a little more and keep these kinds of places in buisiness. Cool vid
Visiting stores like this True Value hardware store is the closest thing to traveling back in time, especially with the classic feel of the store. I noticed True Values near me often have different names, like "Hardware etc.," even though the buildings have the True Value logo. Does this mean the owners can choose their own store names?
True Value seems to be one of the more flexible brands that allow the store owners to have their own look and feel versus a strict plan-o-gram. I think being a True Value location is beneficial for the owners of the stores because they have a buying source for better prices shared with all the other owners. Similar to a buying syndicate. If you ever see an independent appliance store and you see a “brand source” logo, that’s similar. It’s a buying syndicate that multiple independent stores join to be able to have access to the buying power of having multiple stores buying from the same source. This type of set up is probably the only way mom and pops have hung in there when there’s a big box store within a few miles.
1. That's so heartbreaking.... I miss local hardware stores. The one in my area was called Moody's True Value Hardware. I wonder what nonsense will take its place. 2. PEPPER!!!!! Dogs make everything better. 3. Such a neat place... thanks for another cool video, dude.
@@thatpart snagged those cool signs I mentioned in the video. The garden shop sign is really big and reminded me of the old sign on the outside of Kmart prisons but hand painted goodness! Other than that, I will wait another week or two to maybe snag some tools if anything is left.
i live about 3 or 4 blocks away from there
Awesome! Did you shop here through the years or make the ride to HD and Lowe’s?
Any cool memories to share?
Thanks for watching! 🎉🎉🎉
@charlestonpinballarcade I don't like Lowes lol but everytime I went to blackwells always treated like family
