Bit of trivia: Brok’s leitmotif that plays throughout the game? It’s Raeb’s Lament, the song that plays at his funeral. This is both foreshadowing and symbolic of the natural conclusion of life. I look forward to the next video about Sindri, and how his flaws caused so much of his own suffering.
Regarding the stuff you can vs. what you can't see hit me on my first play through. I'm a musician and the analogy my brain put together was that the space between the notes in a song are as important as the notes. Both have to be there for the magic to happen.
I have always known Brok. Since I was born, in a manner of speaking, as that's how long I've known my grandfather. In him I have always seen the simple, honest essence of a man who speaks plain. I've witnessed firsthand that honesty, like life, is a finely-tuned concoction of instincts and wisdoms tempered by hard times and rough episodes, but also innate compassion and humility. The truth in its entirety is a most powerful thing. Watching my grandfather wield it to lift others, or extract flies from webs has proven to be a truly awesome sight. From there I learned what it means to understand "the true measure of a man", seeing how he always used that power to its utmost, always for a good cause. It's watching Brok share the truth in spades without end that seems like a love letter to the humility and compassion--a love letter to my grandfather--that makes me almost wanna tear up.
Hey Sam, I wanted to take a moment to thank you not just for this video, but all of the videos you've done. I made a really big mistake several months ago that costed me a relationship and the trust of a friend, and since then I've been using some examples of good character analysis as building blocks so that I can try to not make the same mistakes I did before. Your videos have been a cornerstone of this initiative, and have not only entertained me but enlightened me. So thank you for that, and I can't wait to see your next upload :)
Comments like this absolutely make my day. It just goes to show that these stories DO really matter. If I can highlight why that is, and let that story make a positive impact on anyone's life, then, well, mission accomplished.
My sister and I started reading the Stormlight Archive in part due to your recommendation, and we're really enjoying it! It's been a while since we've found a good modern fantasy novel. Thank you!
Im so happy you made this video a few weeks ago (or months ago atp) i remember leaving a comment on your stream saying how important brok was and I hope that it inspired you to dig deeper into him here much love
Brok is the opposite of Odin in many ways. While Odin is a smooth talking selfish manipulator, brok “speaks plain” and genuinely and selflessly cares about others.
saw one analysis mentioned that brok is the pivotal character for this story. given that his nature is to be truthful, completely opposite to the falsehood of odin.
"role call: Kratos defier of death and fate, Freya master sorceress, Sindre master dwarven blacksmith, Mimir smartest man alive and there is also Atreus." I am weeping with mirth. 🤣
Okay I have to ask, what the hell is up with that awful saturation and weird color palette for when you're showing the clips of when they're in the forge?!
I love these thems but i wish they could have chousen a better religion for this. ( i wish they could find a culture and mythology that hase evil gods and not one when were its about parents helping "trying ti help odeon" there childern be better ).
I think they chose Nordic bc everyone knows it. They thought Thor, Odin and Loki probably interested more people Especially after the MCU. Following that logic, Egypt has to be next. Let's see what happens.
@@kaiderhai86 I would prefer them choose another mythology next time. Assassin's creed already did Norse mythology before God of war 2018 dropped. They couldn't give kratos the hammer of Thor because that would put too many speculations on marvel using Mjnoir or storm breaker..
this comment section is so lonely when you get here so early....
e-sex??
That scene with Kratos telling Brok to bless his spear is a top 5 moment in the story for me. Says so much about both characters.
I got goosebumps all over and teared up a bit!
AFAIK Kratos NEVER kneeled after receiving Ares's blessing.
@LegsON True
15:40 He lists Brok, Kratos, Freya, Sindri, Mimir, and "Atreus is also present", but OUCH TO FREYR! Doesn't even get quip! 🤣
You have to be sober to be mentioned.

9:45 "This is one of those moments", he means us watching and learning from this video

A pleasant suprise to see this video!! And I believe you are correct. Kratos is the form of the games hero, while Brok is the Nature of the hero

I'm not crying! You are!!
FatBrett has a great essay on him, too.
Now I can finally watch it!
@@master_samwise and, what do you think about that video?
Just to be clear, I would have been fine with a 5 hour video on Brok. (and hello from a fellow Sanderfan!)
"What gets bigger the more you take away from it?"
⚫️
Mimir: Hole
Kratos: What?
Mimir : *in ever more sad and tired voice* the more you take.... The biger it get
Keep the double stuffed oreos away 😭. your videos are always great and inspiring (especially your vids on lotr)
Im so happy you made this video

much love
This was a very beautiful analysis of one of the greatest charcters ever written thank you

I'm a simple man, I see a Master Samwise God of War Ragnarok video, I click
saw one analysis mentioned that brok is the pivotal character for this story.
given that his nature is to be truthful, completely opposite to the falsehood of odin.
Just finished ur 5 hour video today, nice to receive a little addition to it a literally a couple hours later lol
Master Samwise, are you ever going to cover the God Of War Ragnarok Valhalla DLC? Would be awesome to see you break down the conclusion to the arc.
Yep! I finally started playing it recently.
@ perfect! Enjoy it. Looking forward to the video
"IT'S THE FORM OF THE THINGS THAT MATTERS"
Great video as always! I can’t wait for a video on Valhalla! ❤
Ay. For Brok! Such a Chad that he’s the only one with a comparable beard to Kratos himself.
"role call: Kratos defier of death and fate, Freya master sorceress, Sindre master dwarven blacksmith, Mimir smartest man alive and there is also Atreus." I am weeping with mirth. 🤣
I finished this game last night. Perfect timing lol
This game made me really appreciate Brok
I would like to hear your opinion on so many stories, but everything is in its own time.
I appreciate your work but pls make a video on gow valhala ❤❤
Brok is just the greatest dwarf of all
That title belongs to Gimli, Son of Gloin.
You should do analysis of some more early 2000s historical epics. Kingdom of heaven (extended of course), Troy, Last samurai.
Brok is a real one.
Brok: Samwise Gamgee of God of War.
Leaving a comment so the eldritch horror Al Gore Rhythm boosts this video!
More god of war videos for my veins !
I got hit with an ad during broks blessing and it made me so goddamn mad
23:19 hang on, in what way might Thor be responsible for Fey's death?
This came as ordered
Sorry I'm late. Work was Ragnarok
I think it might be the umlaut
Okay I have to ask, what the hell is up with that awful saturation and weird color palette for when you're showing the clips of when they're in the forge?!
Do some legend of Zelda sometime!
Please do Batman = Arkham character
Brok was probably the only character who was treated correctly in Ragnarok; everyone else was pretty disappointing from what 2018 set up.
Great video but still doesn't show how Brok is a better hero of the tale than Birgir.

Odin is pretty evil. The Greek gods from the first three are all classically a bunch of jerks.
@@Eilonwy95He's saying more brutal evil gods. Like Mayan gods..
