    You are nothing short of a GENIUS! Thanks you so much for creating this and sharing. I also agree that the stock reverbs are a little lacking and your solution means you have total control. I’m after big lush washes and so going to use this technique BUT get this, instead of the helix reverb for the first reverb in the wet path, will put an FX send and use the plate etc on my Lexicon MPX1! So can have the juicy Lexicon reverb but have totally custom and control over the trails. You sir are a legend !!! ❤️😎💪

    This reverb setup was fantastic and I've been using it for P&W ever since this video came out. I think the new Dynamic Hall effect in 3.10 does almost exactly what this signal path was accomplishing would love to see an update to this video using the Dynamic Hall.

      th-cam.com/video/qYqt_HgkZoM/w-d-xo.html This is just a short clip running direct from the powercabs through a full line array PA system. I was blown away at how accurate the PA emulated the tone of the powercabs. I have been so impressed with your patch that I use it in all my baseline patches for our cover band. It's a great stepping stone. Thanks again!

      @dweezil990 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a Ventris and Nemesis in the FX loop using these instead of the helix wet reverbs! Also a Lexicon MPX1! I love my reverb! So same setup but instead of using the helix reverb as the first wet reverb, stick in an FX loop and send to the Ventris/Lexicon THEN use the Helix for the mods in the trail and have the last reverb OR have Ventris as first reverb in the FX loop, have your mods then have the lexicon in the FX loop to bring it all back together! Class.

  • @modernedge_studio

    Yah TZee.. nice work!!!. this is a useful patch and *I think* will solve the dilemma I have in switching from a glorious old LEX PCM81 verb that I used with an old analog rig.... That rig was fantastic and of course wdw with a vintage tube amp and LEX is the bomb.. but I needed a practical solution ...enter the Helix BUT the verbs were like 3 day old pizza compared to the LEX ... so I needed a better verb solution... this gives me a quick start. Interesting that what you've done here is some emulation of the classic old verb trick (if you look closely at the algorithms in the LEX or Eventide manuals) the verb designers put a lot of LFO / Chorusing and pre/post delays with spin and glides to give it this 'motion'.. so those with interest might want to look closer at those classic algorithms for more ideas and then dupe the setting on Helix. Maybe not a studio quality verb to some but probably close enough for live use which is what Helix shines at. Cheers. WWK Joel

Some people sell pod go patches, may be worth grabbing a couple just to try out and get some ideas from :)

    On a side note, am I the only one that finds that flashing red "Tap" light annoying? I think Line 6 defaults it to flashing just to let everyone know it's available as an option (for when playing on a dark stage). First thing I did after unboxing was find out how to turn it off. Global Settings>Displays>Tap Tempo LED

      Spring is tough, I have a setup I use that approximates a spring verb that I really enjoy but I'm not sure how accurate it is to actual spring since I don't have much experience with a real spring reverb. I'd say the spring is the weak point of the Helix verbs. I hope someday they'll do a HX Spring reverb to replace the legacy one :)

    Very nice lush sounding tone! I appreciate the effort. Will definitely use it for quite a few of my sounds. Nice way to blend things to get the overall sound. When you play do you do anything in particular with the foot switches, other than the snapshots?

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I run in Stomp/Snap mode, so I use four snapshots (say Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge) and then on the four foot switches above the snapshots I add a clean boost (gain block towards the end of chain) plus one or two overdrives and then a wild card effect depending on the song. Sometimes a delay, modulation, etc. That way I can still be spontaneous and kick on something extra if the situation calls for it live. Is that what you meant?

    Awesome stuff. Let’s say my church has a mono board (it does). Can I still use this patch or should I change it all to be mono verb and effects? Thank you

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan Moore it will sum it all to mono automatically if you only use one output. The download is free so no harm in trying it! The reverb split will likely have to be run much lower (i.e. Use way more of path A than I do here) and the delays will need to have the scale parameter set to 100 or the delays will sound doubled/jumbled. The rest should be fine, but I don't play mono so I don't know for sure :)

    Really really great reverb sound. Is there a way to assign it to a foot switch as an effect and then turn it off and on via the foot switch. When I hit the switch it swops between the mix of path a and b if that makes sense. I don’t want the effect on all the time just when I use the switch but it’s on and the switch just changes between the mix of the paths. Don’t know if I’m explaining this correctly 🤷🏼‍♂️🙈

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be a footswitch labeled mod verb which will turn it on and off :)

      Yep the video of me is literally my phone sitting on a computer speaker, and the screen capture is from a free software called OBS studio. Unfortunately my phone captures video in variable frame rates so they get out of sync a couple times but not to bad.

  • @indianrockstrat
    @indianrockstrat 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice. My only reservation about all the chatter on ambient is that in most cases your tone will be buried in the mix ( which might be okay if you're just providing PAD style background sounds ). If you're band is really small, or many of them drop out while you do some ambient work, then you might not be buried. I think most churches are running mono in the house speakers -- ours does so I don't bother with stereo patches.

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      indianrockstrat definitely case by case basis. A great thing to do if possible is listen back to the Sunday recordings. The church I play at is pretty normal sized, we don't run tracks but keys do the pad stuff often. When I first listened to the recordings a while back I quickly determined that I actually need to run way wetter than I thought would be necessary. In my experience my tone sounded much drier in the mix than it sounds isolated, and delay repeats need to be pretty loud to be heard in the mix and reverb needs to be fairly bright. Especially in stereo hard panned L/R at FOH, your dry signal will sound very present in the middle despite tons of ambience around it. Room also plays a major role, some rooms have tons of natural reverb.

    • @indianrockstrat
      @indianrockstrat 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting that you need to run more wet than thought since it seems the conventional wisdom is that more wet buries you in the mix. Our room at church is not sound-treated and about 90 by 70 feet with PA speakers 20 feet up in the ceiling --- lots of sound challenges. But I'll try more wet and walk off the stage with my guitar during rehearsal so I can get some verification. Working on recording worship sets.

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      indianrockstrat definitely try for yourself and determine what works for your sound/band/mix/songs/room. At least with this setup you can finely control it all to be exactly what YOU need :) if you run mono you can't get away with as much wet as stereo in my experience so keep that in mind.

    • @erikhartley2494
      @erikhartley2494 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Will these “stereo” patches still sum to mono and sound ok on a mono system? Our church is also mono. You are supposed to run all the wet effects in stereo regardless correct?

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Erik Hartley yep the Helix will automatically sum to mono if you only have one output plugged in. I don't run mono at church or at home so I cant tell you exactly how it'll sound but in general mono reverb sounds muddy up your tone more at the same mix levels, and sound less big. How big of a difference, well maybe I'll have to do a quick video on that because I'm not entirely sure.

    Hey man, thanks for sharing, I agree that reverb you created sounds ace! Will the reverb be effected by the effects you have in path 2A once it joins back up (Mod, Vol, EQ, EQ and Comp)?
    Also, I've been playing around with one amp and two cabs and I've been hitting the DSP limit on the first path, do you have any tips to maximise this?

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Benjamin, thank you! No, anything in path 2A will be in parallel meaning it will not be influenced and will not influence whatever is in path 2B. Common practice with a parallel path is to have two delays, one on each path, going at the same time. In parallel one delay will not run into the other delay. This uses that same concept, allowing for fine control of each path and its tone individually.
      As for DSP I have templates I made that use this same reverb setup with either 1 amp and 2 cabs (or 2 IR's) or 2 amps 2 cabs (or 2 IR's). Depending on the amp I can fit at least one or two overdrives, a compressor, and usually 1 delay. Any other effects I would put after the amp anyways so I've never had a problem. What are you trying to fit on the first path?

  • @Senira322
    @Senira322 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    hello friend. im planning to get just the helix effects (without the amp sims) was wondering whether the dry signal of my amp will be lost when i dime the reverb mix since ill be running the fx in front of my actual amp. thanks in advance!

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not if you build a split path like I did here. I don't own one of those but I'm pretty sure you can build paths the same way, so just make sure you have a split a/b path
