My new years resolution this year is to eat one of every progresso soup available at my local grocery store and make a spredsheet about them!

To Jacob and Julia: one thing you need to watch out for when you're a pescatarian is to monitor your mercury levels if you eat substantially more fish. Not a big deal, just something to let your doctor know about and get tested for semi-regularly.

As an Australian that eats fish most of the time - this is so important! Mercury poisoning sucks (speaking from a LOT of experience), and especially important if you’re eating fresh deep sea fish.
@brittanyzzz it's less of a problem if you eat fish lower on the food chain. The biggest problem is with exclusive filter feeders (mollusks) and predatory fish (tuna, marlins, etc) because of accumulation.
Or just choose foods better than fish.

Nathan's very confused "This is a cow. You're riding c- Why are you riding a cow?" was so sweet and innocent sounding while also sounding the most confused anyone could ever be. It cracked me up so much.

Julia, people have been waiting 13 years for the next A Song of Ice and Fire book to come out and are still excited, you take as long as you need for Drawtectives. We will never not be excited no matter when it comes out
It's not just that people are still waiting for a book, people are STILL EXCITED for a book series that has a COMPLETED TV SHOW. OF COURSE WE'RE STILL EXCITED FOR DRAWTECTIVES. I can't wait to see what comes from Julia's brain for Season 3.

But yeah, Drawtectives is a really fun time. If you just search Drawtectives into TH-cam, the full playlist containing both seasons should be one of the top results.
Julia is the creator- designing the backgrounds, characters, voicing said characters (s2 stars some guests) and coming up with the mysteries. The rest of the Drawfee crew role play as their own characters and complete drawing challenges in order to access new clues and solve each season’s mystery.
I could not recommend the series more highly. The found family that these characters become is absolutely adorable, the mysteries are intriguing and the humour is top tier.
The time capsule episode idea is pretty cool, you guys should definitely do that 👍
I agree, or other long-term stuff. Stuff that month by month doesn't take much work, but makes a video in the end. Like... 20 minutes of a drawing/painting per month and then seeing the whole thing at the end of the year. Or something like that.

as fun as this episode was I genuinely really appreciated Jacob swooping in to stop Karina from even jokingly self-deprecating. he's a good friend.

As an agriculture major, I love that Julia had the cow facts ready! Spotted cows (whether black or brown) are usually for milk and pure colored cows (pure black or pure brown) are for meat! I also love all the Jacob shorthand animals, they’re so cute!!

@@clockworkmonsters8590 the only things I remember from year 8 agriculture are the differences between monocots and dicots, and that Jerseys produce more luxury milk than Friesians. Presumably that means higher fat content, but I never asked.

Episode suggestion: how about bone game telephone? One artist gets a skeleton and draws a creature based on it, then the next artist draws a skeleton based on the creature, and so on.

Tips for Karina from someone who's dad used to fly every other week for work and passed along the knowledge:
Never underestimate boredom. Bring a variety of things to do. I like to bring my Switch or 3DS plus a variety of games as well as sodoku or puzzle books if I need a change of pace. I sometimes bring a small sketchbook and pencil for sketching. A deck of cards is fun if you have friends with you. Bring chargers for any headphones, consoles, or phones (you can get one power bank and use one of those hydra cables with multiple ends to save space). There's usually free wifi and plugs for charging at airports and in planes.
And it's *technically* socially acceptable to take a nap on the floor or chairs as long as you're not in the way of foot traffic (you'll never guess how I know). Just be sure you've got your bag tucked under you or a watchful friend so no one can steal anything while you're out.
I advise bringing a small pillow or something to nap on or have in your lap while gaming (reducing the distance between your hands and eyes helps prevent hand and neck cramps). They make inflatable neck pillows if you need to save space.
Also, cause apparently a lot of people don't know this: you can bring any food that isn't a paste or liquid through security and onto the plane. So stock up on snacks beforehand to avoid airport prices and help get you through the layovers. Be sure to bring nuts or other substantial snacks as well as candy to tide you over.
For fast security:
- wear shoes that are easy to take on and off
- keep all electronics in one pocket and/or in a big plastic bag so you don't have to fumble to take them all out quickly
Lastly: Wear comfy clothes. Like, SUPER comfy. Airports are like Walmart: as long as you're wearing *something*, nobody really cares. Though I get the feeling you already do this, lol.

I realized a few days ago that I had declared 2022 my year of fanart, rediscovering a joy in art for fun (rather than art for work! I’m a costume designer I do a lot of art for work) but I just kept drawing goofy bits and character art from dnd/ttrpg podcasts through 2023 as well. So… I dunno. Silly resolutions, like embracing a hobby or reading more novels or talking to more strangers in line at the post office, can be awfully satisfying since they’re both attainable and fun!

My New Year's Resolution is to go outside and huff 1 air per day as per Jacob's instruction. As the months go on I hope to add touching 1 grass to the routine but lets not get crazy and start with singular air huffs.
I haven't huffed an air today and it's already 5pm 😬😬😬

I unexpectedly lost my little void kitten on New Year’s Day. He had been sick for a week and despite all the blood tests, X-rays and antibiotics, nothing was showing up as wrong. I’m beyond devastated. He was 8 months old and the light of my life. Thank you for providing a distraction for me during this difficult time. 🐱🖤

I'm a film photographer and I love to shoot a roll of film at the beginning of the year, then sit on it and develop it later on. I get to see what I thought was interesting and see how my style changes.
I think a speed draw like that would be incredible to see your growth over however long.

Low stakes resolutions are the best! Every day I try to go outside twice. Sometimes I do it, sometimes I only manage it once, sometimes I don't at all. I go outside so much more than I used to.

Being pesc is actually super achievable! At some point you do end up being mostly vegetarian for weeks or months, since how often do you really eat fish lmao. Or at least that's how it is for me lol
True! I went vegetarian in March of 2020 and stayed that way for three years, recently I added seafood to my diet cause I just felt like it so I'm vegetarian/pesc when I feel like having seafood 😌👏

I actually have a resolution this year! I resolve to focus more on Spring and Fall gardening so that I am capitalizing on every opportunity to grow food and not allowing March-May and September-November to bully me with its wildly changing and erratic temperatures 💪🏼

I love the time capsule speed draw idea, it's so fun! Also just adore them sounding genuinely happy and excited about Drawfee still existing in 5 years. Like. I know there's no reason to think it _wouldn't,_ but it's still nice to hear people seeming so excited to continue doing the thing they're doing indefinitely!

I love the resolution idea!! I'd like to suggest, in the spirit of just drawing something you enjoy, is to do a speed draw episode where you sketch something you would like someone ELSE to render, and give it as a lil gift to us all! So we see speed draw lines/sketch, and then speed draw inking/render after. Similar vibe to episode with Nathan's brother. 🥰 Porfmas in July: Fix it in Post edition. 😈💖
I've been sat at home with burnout since October, and I've done practically nothing for two months. I don't usually do new year resolutions, but this just happens to coincide with the new year, and so my resolution is to slowly try and do some things. This week, my goal has been to go for a 1km walk outside every day. And it hasn't been easy. I see so many people shit on small goals like these, and I hope that if you see someone say their resolution is something seemingly small like this, and your response is to mock and laugh or to concern troll and humble brag and be like 'I just don't see why that would even be hard 💅' - I hope you are fully aware of how privileged you are that you have always been mentally and physically well enough that something like this has never been an issue for you. And if you are like me, trying to rebuild what existed before, or trying to build what never even existed at all, I believe in you. Take it slow. Small steps at a time. Don't beat yourself up if the goal you set for yourself turned out to be too challenging. We only learn by trying, but we can only progress if we allow ourselves breaks and rest. So take it slow, and don't be afraid to take it even slower if necessary. We'll get there ❤
I once made a resolution in the third grade that I’ve kept to this day. The resolution was I will never again make another New Year’s resolution. 😅

As a pescetarian i can confirm that it gives you Disney princess like animal friendship powers.
Sometimes i just look at a drawfee thumbnail and think to myself: "I can't wait to see how the FLIP did this image come about"
a time capsule episode could be dope. like drawing a vignette of nice little memories or details from your life as it is rn that you're pretty sure you're gonna forget about in a year... and then doing the voiceover for the speeddraw five years later as the nostalgia hits :)
I know I'm like 5 days late to the party and probably no one will see this, but I ended 2023 with a new health concerns and I just wanted to thank you all for making silly thinks that help me not be stresed out about it while I wait for appointments and things. Y'all are great!
