Beautifully sung, this choir is superb! My favourite version, however, will aways the Westminster Abbey choir singing it at Princess Diana's funeral. It was incredibly dramatic.
The backdrop location is in Nashville TN : Parthenon and Statue of Athena, Nashville, Tennessee A majestic, full-size heathen god and temple, in the buckle of the Bible Belt. Survivor of the 1897 Tennessee Centennial Exposition, now an art museum.
That scene when diana the princess of Wales coffin was being carried out of Westminster Abbey to mark tje end of the funeral. 😭😭😭The last time we could see anything of her. Still hunts me😭😭💐💐🇿🇲🇿🇲
It reminds me of it being sung in Westminster Abbey has Diana's coffin was being carried down the aisle and out to begin her last ride home,so gentle and fitting.
This beautiful song was chosen by Diana for her funeral music( ALL close members have to make their choices ) it was sung has she was carried out of the Abbey, the saddest and most beautiful sight and sound.
I guess it's a compliment to Sonus that in 2019 TH-cam's algorithm thinks this is King's College Choir Cambridge. Too bad that probably means someone not holding rights got the pennies from my view.
As a recording and performance I am unbiasedly sharing my review of this upload. Now I see that this is not a professional production, so I will of course take that into consideration. However, there are two glaring errors that show that should have stopped the take and prompted a new take. It wasn’t at an unrecoverable point nor could it have been saved. The first point it at the first entrance of the “tutti “ , everyone pretty much starts singing and the principal artist tries to cue this to everyone. The problem is that the entry of the choir is so ragged that the whole note breaks down and the listener feels embarrassed for the whole choir. We wonder at that point if the performance will go on, but miraculously a couple of beats later you would hardly know of the catastrophe that just occurred. We go on and see some nice singing and enjoy a great set with satisfying lighting. The music is being treated with great respect and solo offerings are very well achieved and appointed. The listener could almost forgive the first tutti error when all of a sudden audio buzzing gets introduced. One hopes it will be temporary but sadly it turns out that the recording level was too high resulting in over modulation. This flaw is just plain unforgivable. Over modulation in an upload to any online service is unforgivable and should never be done. Period. The performance itself, as a live community performance, I would have loved to have heard and experienced. This group obviously work very hard and to a very high standard. Kudos to them and the best of success and enjoyment to each and every member!
I have sung with orchestra, and within unaccompanied choirs, within this abundantly reverberant space. It is notorious to record in, but the sound live within the space is deep, pure, deeply spiritually moving. The death of the incomparable soprano Jessye Norman in September 2019 dashed my hopes of luring her to record Henry Purcell's DIDO AND AENEAS here. I am a Nashville resident now retired from Organist & Choirmaster positions in two cathedrals (Roman Catholic and Episcopal). TH-cam is my daily inspiration driving me toward further growth.
Princess Diana's funeral brought me here. It's August now, the month the people's princess died. Thank you, this is beautiful.
The fact that there's a 20ft statue of Athena Nike in the background... wasn't lost here.😊♥️
Beautiful rendition - what a discovery

Just splendid.
Just beautiful. Much better with female voiced too. Gorgeous background of Tennessee.

Thank you for mentioning it as I have always wondered who chose such a magnificent, powerful piece of music.

Diana 😔
All that’s missing is the sound of the footfall of the bearers carrying Princess Diana’s coffin.
Where was this filmed? Is that a greek temple?
Nashville Parthenon
