    It seems to me that God is showing himself more frequently through archeology the closer we get to the Tribulation. It's as if He is saying "wake up world" and stop denying His existence. Seriously, what more do non believers need to see to understand the validity of God's word.

      @Thorn in the side that’s why Jesus Christ isn’t a religion, he is a person, he is God, he became a human, to pay the debt of sin you and I once owed. That’s why he said “if any man follows me, let him deny himself, pick up his cross daily (spiritually) and follow me” (Luke 9:23). Notice that he didn’t say to follow traditions or religion, he said follow me. Jesus Christ isn’t a religion, he is a person, and he wants to have a genuine relationship with his creation, not a religion.

    Got to save this for my daughter! She’s 8 now and one of the things she wants to be is an archeologist. She’s ambitious, that’s for sure. Doesn’t get more humbly ambitious than to chase Jesus through time, showing the new world the real Holiness of the old, and connecting today’s people with those ancestors of the past. The overused word “inspiring” barely covers it, but it will do for now if you’ll forgive my lack of imagination.

      There was a special seat in the synagogue for the rabbi to sit and teach scripture from and it was called the ' seat of Moses '.
      In Matthew, Jesus when stating the 7 woes rebuking many ,'not all' of the the Jewish religious leaders of His day said ,
      " Obey what they ( the Jewish religious leaders ) say when they teach from the 'seat of Moses', ( in the synagogue) but do not follow their example in everyday life carrying out what Moses said to do ".

      Re-read Gospels, and Acts, and do an online word search for 'synagogue'. Jesus taught in them, and attended, 'as His custom was...' Especially Luke 4, where Jesus/Y'shua reads from the scroll of Isaiah and is fulfilling that OT prophecy.
      14 Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. 15 And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
      16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
      18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
      Because He has anointed Me
      To preach the gospel to the poor;
      He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
      To proclaim liberty to the captives
      And recovery of sight to the blind,
      To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
      19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
      20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
      Shalom

      I thought the reading of Isaiah happened at the 2nd temple.
      The other passages honestly went right over my head.
      This is something new I learned about Jesus life on earth.
      WOW...did not realise.
      Thanks

      The vast amount of archaeological explorations do more to disprove the bible than prove it. Even for those recent finds mentioned in the bible, it only establishes things and places and does not confirm supernatural events associated with them.

    From what I understand, the synagogue is a meeting place for religious services and learning. So I wonder if the separate room that was much like "Sunday school" for children as religious services were conducted. I like to imagine Yeshua preaching at the synagogue. I understand Mary Magdeline helped finance His mission of peace and redemption.

    Not so many years ago secular scholars stated unequivocally that scripture was wrong, in that no evidence of synagogues outside of the temple in Jerusalem existed in Jesus's time. Therefore Jesus could not have preached as noted in scripture. The LORD in His way not only showed them wrong, but has made them blush in embarrassment with the finding of not one, but two such synagogues in one first century town. I'd like to hear what those scholars have to say now. The Lord definitely has a sense of humor.
