The Verve bass player loved Ren's version (with his own lyrics) of their song so much he gifted him guitar. It's the beauty of real life, warts and all. The live version is phenomenal, a string quartet in the UK projects. Check Ren's channel for "Got gifted a guitar by the bassplayer of The Verve!" only a minute long.
Yeah and his expression and attitude was definitely one of pure gratitude and shock, an acknowledgment that those he considers his idols are starting to recognise that he's more than just a fan.
You mentioned using the environment for small details- when he stops walking to deliver the ‘mother at a funeral’ line the pavement at his feet is shaped like a grave
I love both the video and the Live version equally. ❤❤❤ Ren did stop smoking. Not easy when you are a 100+ a day chainsmoking habit. Yay Ren! Between Rens genius and either Luke or Sams filming genius, the two of them make gorgeous videos. Both so talented.
Quintessential British song, as Ren rewrote it. He’s not hung over, as for real he doesn’t drink, due his health concerns. (Yes, but he does smoke - funny, eh.) The live version is fabulous, has a different feel. He recorded it shortly after his return to Britain after eighteen months of medical treatment.
Definitely live version needs to be next. It’s just as good. With Ren, it’s always a surprise. That’s what I love about him and his music. Great reaction once again ❤❤❤❤
His last alcoholic drink was in 2010 at a memorial for Joe fundraiser he mentions it in chapter 1 Simon Jones from the Verve sent him a very rare guitar as appreciation for the song. He also remained a friend mentor with book Recommendations and helpful information about being famous
I was a huge fan of this song for many years. I never appreciated this video so much! It was a one shot I think. You really never know what to expect! At the beginning you were asking is it rap, singing, emotional, bars and I was in my mind saying no, no, no, no. 😂
Definitely do the more recent, live, one take version of this with the classy string quartet accompaniment. Projects type public housing in the far background; football bros kickin' it on the side. Ends with original Verve lyrics and mic drop walk off. Ren evolves and we go along for the illuminating, emotional ride.
Parkskur! You’re gonna love it! I’m ready for you to catch those bars and explain it … cuz you catch more than I do…all the dang time! And again, I. Love it! Keep up the great reacts!
another great reaction & analysis, Sir Parker! 🎶this whole video is also a homage to the original Verve video. have a look at it. Some "random" encounters are staged but the choreography of it is brilliant as usual. I wonder how many takes they had to film to get it right.
I never imagined anyone doing justice to this song, a long time favourite and yet here we are. It's like a revision, a bit of modern day spruce up, bringing an almost 30 year old song into the present. Yes, I nearly fell over when I realised that little statistic! Like everyone else has said, try the live. It has less visual distraction but still beautifully shot, as always. The two options kind of create a different vibe from each other but ultimately they are both perfect. Absolutely loving how you are all in on this Ren journey. Apologies to nearly all the other reactors I used to watch, I'm sure I'll catch up with you later 🤣🥰
So good! I love how he was able to let go of the original lyrics, make it his own with his poetic way of describing life in Britain but keep the score from the original. The Verve loved it, too. It's really unique. And you're right, the attention to detail in de video is crazy, yet it feels so organic. Wonderful reaction!
I think the live version is better you need to do it next if you are lost for words for this one you won't say anything watching the live one love your reactions ❤
Please react to the live version now by Ren, like you said the emotions really shine in the live acoustic versions. Although I think they both have their own strengths and I can't choose between the two as to which is my favorite. Thank you
One of my favorites. In a way it's like "Hi Ren" in that the light and dark Ren are one coin with two sides and here bitter and sweet are two sides of one thing called Bittersweet.
Are you not familiar with the original Verve song? It would seem not? It too shows the band singer walking down the street in a very different fashion to Ren. It makes it pretty difficult to make comparisons without knowing what Ren was working with initially. Here he kept the instrumentals (why wouldn't you?) and wrote his own lyrics. I suggest you do the Verve the courtesy of going and listening to the original. At the end, you missed the reference to a classic British comedy (not that ghastly word from USA) series called *Birds of a Feather* It was set in and around the streets of North London, in a house occupied by 2 sisters whose husbands were both in jail. It followed their struggles in the area, coping without the men around, and trying to make ends meet.
I love that you love Ren the way I do. I've seen probably 30 of your vids, and I enjoy them. But I haven't subscribed yet. I'm a reaction addict, and I follow so many, that I've gotten TOO picky about subscribing. I'm reluctant to mention my problem, because I don't want to come across as "anti pause", because I'm absolutely NOT. I enjoy pauses, as I'd rather someone pause than talk over the song. But you pause a little too much for me. Actually, it's not the quantity of them. But you often pause, speak, unpause, and then pause within 2 seconds of the other pause. That's just a bit jarring. I don't expect you to change, because of my one lack of subscription. You should always do what makes you comfortable and happy. It's just a small piece of constructive criticism. Like I said, I keep coming back because I love your genuine joy about Ren. EDIT : You know what? I watched a couple more of your vids tonight, and I've given in. Even with my minor complaint, I've subscribed. Your love of Ren, which is like my love of Ren, is what did it.
I actually like that he does that, I makes me feel the excitement and true awe when he pauses 2 seconds after the other pause. I feel it reflects this internal reaction so many of us have to Ren - not being able to contain the pure genius :)

💯😊
The live acoustic version is so beautiful you will see ! Great reaction as always dude !!
You mentioned using the environment for small details- when he stops walking to deliver the ‘mother at a funeral’ line the pavement at his feet is shaped like a grave
Your love and appreciation of Ren keeps me coming back for more. What a lovely chap you are.😊
i concur!
Now the Iive version
Came to leave the exact same words.
IKR?
Yes the live is another level, If ren does a live version it's not to be missed.
Notice how he lit up a cigarette right out front of "cancer research uk" sign 😂😂
I LOVE how deliberate Ren is, everything is so intentional!
@@mannysmith8056No Coincidences in anything ❤❤
Pram (stroller) is short for ‘perambulator’ 😂
Fantastic reaction. Enjoyed it. ❤
I love both the video and the Live version equally. ❤❤❤
Ren did stop smoking. Not easy when you are a 100+ a day chainsmoking habit.
Yay Ren!
Between Rens genius and either Luke or Sams filming genius, the two of them make gorgeous videos. Both so talented.
This one was filmed by Luke Flegg 😊
@KittyInTheGarden Luke is awesome too!!! He did Animal Flow as well. So many super talented friends, our Boi. ❤️
This one has an acoustic too!

I think, he said, he quit smoking cigaretes and later on weed while in Canada.
I love how you catch his attention to details ❤❤
Check out the live version. I think that's the one Mark Cuban shared. They're both equally good though.
Definitely live version needs to be next. It’s just as good. With Ren, it’s always a surprise. That’s what I love about him and his music. Great reaction once again ❤❤❤❤
Fantastic as always, loving your journey, thank you for sharing 🙏🐊❤️🦉👍
His last alcoholic drink was in 2010 at a memorial for Joe fundraiser he mentions it in chapter 1
Simon Jones from the Verve sent him a very rare guitar as appreciation for the song. He also remained a friend mentor with book Recommendations and helpful information about being famous
Parker, Ren said he quit smoking awhile back.
Thanks man for another nice reaction 👍❤
Great reaction to a great song.
Isn't it great? It came up in my most viewed bit at the end of the year. It makes me swell with love for my country and my city, Brighton 🇬🇧💙
so good, right?? ren doesn‘t miss anything. you nailed it when you noticed all the little bits, this is why you‘re my favorite reactor ❤
Live version is even better
Pure poetry. I could watch this 50 times...no wait, already did that.
Another great track😊" mad how small altercations can define who we are" one of my favorite lyrics from Ren 😁 much love ✌️
Mine too 💚🫣
Thank you. ❤👍🔥
Loving your Ren journey 🥰ark Cuban shared the liive version which is so 🔥🔥
Thanks for the great words at the end. You captured the sweet bitterness or the bitter sweetness very good.
And, I believe the bassist from the Verve sent Ren a guitar after he heard this version. Amazing, huh?
He unboxed it on one of his Twitch streams
Yes, yes he did! That really says something!
Love your Ren reactions Parker, especially you checking what the phrases are ❤️
I was a huge fan of this song for many years. I never appreciated this video so much! It was a one shot I think. You really never know what to expect! At the beginning you were asking is it rap, singing, emotional, bars and I was in my mind saying no, no, no, no. 😂
And I appreciated your emotion at the very end! ❤️🩹
The guy that got hit was viktus and the guy who did it was connor
It's awesome to see how this affected you
First time seeing this version. Love the live one but this was fun seeing the streets and the cinematic choices made here so special.
The glow line was probably sam perry his videographer.
WoW, just WoW. Perfect reaction. Nailed it!
That's a good'un 🔥 thanks x
Swan Song will blow your mind too
If your mind is blown then you need to react to his live version…… it’s just incredible. I’m loving your reactions👍🏴

Parkskur! You’re gonna love it! I’m ready for you to catch those bars and explain it … cuz you catch more than I do…all the dang time! And again, I. Love it! Keep up the great reacts!
The live of this is also great! You still need to check the song made for REN. It’s great!
Awesome reaction keep doing what you do!
And now the live version. It‘s so so so good!

Now ypu have to do the live version, it's fantastic! Keep an eye out for the seagulls.
The version Bittersweet symphony live version he does is also good it’s string acoustic if want to check that out. ❤❤❤
It really is a work of art isn’t it? I’m a poet and can really appreciate it’s beautiful composition. Not just the words but the whole thing ❤
Be sure you check the Live version of this amazing strings on it ,,,, both versions are awesome
Another retake that’s great is “right here right now” fatboy slim retake. Ren goes off
I never imagined anyone doing justice to this song, a long time favourite and yet here we are. It's like a revision, a bit of modern day spruce up, bringing an almost 30 year old song into the present. Yes, I nearly fell over when I realised that little statistic!

Never noticed the sun and glow thing. Really cool
So good! I love how he was able to let go of the original lyrics, make it his own with his poetic way of describing life in Britain but keep the score from the original. The Verve loved it, too. It's really unique. And you're right, the attention to detail in de video is crazy, yet it feels so organic. Wonderful reaction!
Great reaction and more good news there is also an acoustic version of this track too.
Peace and love from Australia mate
Please do the live version too 🥰
I think the live version is better you need to do it next if you are lost for words for this one you won't say anything watching the live one love your reactions ❤
Many of the people in this video are friends that participated in a choreographed "walk."
love
Please do the accoustic version very soon. You will love it even more. I promise
Please react to the live version now by Ren, like you said the emotions really shine in the live acoustic versions. Although I think they both have their own strengths and I can't choose between the two as to which is my favorite. Thank you

Please, please, please check out the live version 🥹
If you do watch it, keep in mind the sound of the seagulls at the end of this video.
Hi Parkskur, you should try live version of this one 😉
No he’s not portraying himself as being drunk. He’s saying he can’t sleep. This is a theme he repeats in some of his videos.
🎉🎉🎉
I always saw the “politicians with their head in the mud” as a metaphor for the pig 😂
❤❤❤
You should check out The Verve version if you havent seen it. I remember it was even a hit in the US when i was kid.
You should react to the live version of this
You're speechless now, but nownwatch the Live version he shot last year
❤
Parker, all- This is a long-shot. Check out “Tornado” by Jonsi.
It’s one of those tracks where, if you get it, it can be stunning.
This is Brighton even the police know Ren there. So its probably just people who know ren living their lives around Brighton.
I strongly suggest running this particular video up against Ren's retake of Halftime. Something unbelievable happens
A pram is a brand of stroller
No. Pram is not a brand, it's short for perambulator. They have been around for a long time.

Pram is short for perambulator! Yes it’s a stroller.
I myself prefer the long version of pram. It’s short for perambulator. But I’m an etymology nerd.
**** Mark Cuban

@@danit_leida_Kemasa Wonderful. I don't need to debate my feeling. Move on. 😀
Dude stop talking and actually listen. 👎
You talk before you understand
Your pausing is so annoying 😖
Dude, great reactions, intelligent insights.
Gotta give "Life is funny" a listen, what kind of person are you. ;)
