It’s sad because you don’t understand what an incredible gift being young is until your youth is gone and autumn is closing in. It’s 2023 and I’m 59. How did that even happen?
I'm 67 and I've asked myself that same question.
73,here…where the hell did it go?
Live every day to the fullest .The more memories you put into your brain the slower time seems to pass .
Try 73.............so many lost chances, lost loves..............
Time moves in a linear fashion is the best way I can explain it 😂
My best friend Gary and I used to listen to this after school. He died in Afghanistan, here's to you Gary.
I am so sorry. Your friend didn't die in vain.
Peace and Love to you and Gary
To Gary 🍻
Here's to Gary.
Im so sorry peace to you Gary
In 3 days, I turn 50, this song makes me sad, I was too introverted as a teen to go out and...live, but at the same time, this song makes me happily nostalgic.
Happy Birthday Brother 8-26-73
Not too late to enjoy other interactions
My daddy, God rest him, said our circumstance often saves us... do not lament it. A busted car (or staying in on party nights) may well have saved ya from accidents... jail sentences, germs, being robbed...being accused of robbery....or attacked by a bear, drowning.... who knows what all?
He'd say anything to ease a heavy heart! 🖖🏾live long...and prosper❤❤❤
Get out and live . 50 still young you have so much to do ♥
You're still young kiddo. Go seize the day ❤
I hear this song and it's 1971. I'm 17 and making love in a Chevy Impala with the strong, sweet boy who has waited a whole year for me to be ready. It's summertime, and the windows are down. In our secret hiding place out in the country we hold each other tight, so much in love. This night is going to last forever.
Then I open my eyes and it's 2024. I'm 70, and that strong, sweet boy, who I never married, has been dead several years. And me, I'm in love with the amazing man still asleep in the bedroom. We have kids and grandkids. It's early morning, and I'm on my phone, wanting just one more song before I have to get up and start my day. Bob Seger comes on. I listen, and remember. Outside the rain is pouring down. And autumn's closing in.
that was cool
A short message to let you know I've just read your message and it moved me. Best greetings from France madame 🙏
Cheers to what sounds to be, so far 😉 , a great life.
Lovely piece of writing Brenda. Here’s to many more years of listening to Bob start your day. Thanks.
Great recollection Brenda. To a degree, Seger wrote a bit of all our stories. Whenever I hear Seger's Night Moves I can't wait for my favorite lines: "I woke last night to the sound of thunder, how far off I sat and wondered. Starting hummin' a song from 1962. Ain't it funny how the night moves, when you just don't seem to have as much to lose. Strange how the night moves, (favorite line coming) With autumn closing in. I am also 70, in the autumn of my life, and I've had a good life, and this song just brings back so many great memories. I guess that's why it's such a great song.

1976 I was in the Navy stationed out of Jax Florida. I was working on my Night Moves with a dark haired beauty in a club called Happy Jax Liquors. Two years later we married in 1978. Saw him in 1986 and nine months later our daughter was born. Here it is 2024, I'm 70 and still married to that dark haired beauty. Ain't it funny how the night moves? And now autumns closing in.
Reasons to love this song:
1. Bob Seger
2. You're alive
3. Awesome music
4. Joey Tribbiani!

@@krystlemurphy8514 Same here. It doesn't go along with everything my mind conjured up every time I listened throughout the years though.
I’m 21 and this song makes me feel nostalgic for a time I never experienced
You were there. I'm sure you were there on every clap of thunder
For some people, music is hypnotic - every time you hear that certain song that gives you a lump in your throat or gets you pumped up or angry, that's the music cutting through all the layers and touching your soul
I'm 59 and I'm telling you from experience that growing up then was one beautiful part of my life, nothing like today, thank God for the great memories
Reincarnation, past life
That's such a strange thing but understand. I've only just found this song, never heard it before but I'm old enough to know it well (40). Makes me feel nostalgia even though I've never heard it, I dint understand but...oh well.
Feelin’ this.
I lost my beloved wife in 2019.
When I “wake to the sound of thunder”,
I know it’s her.
Thanks, Bob.

Been 8 years since I lost my wife to cancer. Not going to say it gets easy, but it gets easier. There is a possibility for life beyond. Try to enjoy as much as you can, brother, because she would want it that way.

2024 and I'm 77 years old. Grew up in the sixties with early rock and roll and cars that had character. My first car in 1963 was a 1950 Ford. Night moves were with the girl with whom I've been married for 58 years. What memories and what images come up when hearing Seger's "Night Moves".
Awesome....

58 years Congrats

I’ll never forget this song. My husband passed away and this song was playing on the tv. He loved Bob Seger.
I'm so sorry for your loss. What a great song for your husband to hear in his final moments. 🎶
Hell yeah. Love this song. Gives me goose bumps. We love you Bobby S
One of the best songs ever written, composed, performed and sung.
I was a little too tall, could've used a few pounds
Tight pants points, hardly renowned
She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points of her own, sittin' way up high
Way up firm and high
Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy
Out in the back seat of my '60 Chevy
Workin' on mysteries without any clues
Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to make some front page drive-in news
Workin' on our night moves
In the summertime
Umm, in the sweet summertime
We weren't in love, oh no, far from it
We weren't searchin' for some pie in the sky summit
We were just young and restless and bored
Livin' by the sword
And we'd steal away every chance we could
To the backroom, to the alley or the trusty woods
I used her, she used me but neither one cared
We were gettin' our share
Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to lose the awkward teenage blues
Workin' on our night moves
Mmm, and it was summertime
Mmm, sweet, summertime, summertime
Oh, wonderin'
Felt the lightning, yeah
And I waited on the thunder
Waited on the thunder
I woke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered?
Started hummin' a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves?
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closin' in
Mmm, night moves, mmm
(Night moves) night moves
(Night moves) yeah
(Night moves) I remember
(Night moves) ah, I sure remember the night moves
(Night moves) ain't it funny how you remember?
(Night moves) funny how you remember
(Night moves) I remember, I remember, I remember, I remember
(Night moves) oh, oh, oh
we were workin', workin' and practicin'
(Night moves) workin' and practicin'
(Night moves) oh, on the night moves, night moves
(Night moves) oh
(Night moves) I remember, yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember
(Night moves) ooh
(Night moves) I remember, Lord I remember, Lord I remember
(Night moves) ha, ha, ooh-hoo

Bob Seger is the most under appreciated artist in the entire world. One of my granddaughters is named Paige after, what else, Turn the Page. We love Bob here in Maine.
Paige Turner was the Traffic girl on Channel 2. Do you remember that?
Larry B. Sorry no, not familiar. My son has 3 daughters. He was feeling a wee bit outnumbered 😂 so he figured naming her Paige after that song would allow him to tell her when she had a small crisis to just ‘Turn the Page’ and start over. He won’t do that, those girls have him so wrapped around their hearts they will never have to worry about a thing. His name is Larry also, we’re in So. ME.

Beautiful comment...Yes it does...You have no idea...😊
For me, it works the other way around. Lines of a song (I loved and had forgotten about) pop up in my head, and they fit, so I look them up. I personally think that is a healthier approach than just turning on a device and letting it dictate you.

They don't make songs like this anymore. Songs like this just move the soul.❤

Paints a picture of memories.
I was 27 years-old when Bob Seger released, 'Night Moves' in 1976. It hit me like a ton of lead. Brought back so many fond memories of 'the backseat of my '60 Chevy', (actually a '56) and how quickly time goes by. Every young man who grew up in America back then could identify with that song. It's a true classic. George Bernard Shaw once wrote, “Youth is the most precious thing in life; it is too bad it has to be wasted on the young."
I was 21 back in 1976 those memories of that yr will never leave me ❤
A few months before my father passed I watched him lay in his room and go over his past. He would stare up at the ceiling and I could see him just thinking and reminiscing. He had an amazing time as an immigrant to American in his 20s and had a bunch of pictures of those times. He gave me the same childhood and early adulthood growing up in Southern California. Now I'm watching my daughter grow up and it's the sweet summertime right now. Such a beautiful song.
I am doing the same thing
God Bless
He ruined my county
You illegal alien?
I was a teenager in the late 70's when this song came out. I completely get what Bob's talking about, and I remember many a make out session with many a girl in the back of my rusted out '73 Javelin. I get a little misty remembering my wayward youth. We WERE just young and restless and bored. Like they say, youth is wasted on the young. You can't get those times back. All you can do is remember.
Autumn is indeed closin' in. Damn.
The memories is what makes it all worth it. You can only live it once, but you can remember forever !
Facts
Omg my sis had a javelin...my was a 68 GTO fogged the wimdows right nice aha
First car was a 71 Javelin, our generation partied and pursued girls and didn't have our faces stuck in our smart phones 99% of the time. Great time in history to be alive.
Back when things seemed simple and your mind did not count the clock. You rode the wind as if you were going to be here forever. Youth and its gifts continued to embrace you but now you sit with a reality of that those days are gone.

When you're young, you think this song is about getting it on with girls. As you get older, suddenly that last verse hits you between the eyes: It's about sitting up in bed and realizing summer has faded "...with autumn closin' in". Can't hear it without choking up now.

Actually I loved this song when I discovered it as a teenager in Ireland in 1990. By 92 I was with my girlfriend in a deserted country lane working on our own night moves. I'm married to an American lass now and live in the US...but when I think back..oh what fun...it' all gone now...like Ireland...a youthful dream. Still..I remember, I remember.
Oh Jupiter I hope you are ok. I turn 60 this year and it was like omg whats left for me to do. But I now know I have to live and do what I want, sing want I want , listen & read what and when I want. Go where I want (obviously covid restricts some of that) Dress how I want (ageing hippy here)
You absolutely took the words from my mouth. This is my all time favorite song, and even after hearing it a million times, I laid in my bed last night and relived my youth for hours with this song playing over and over.
44 year old here, grew up with these old classics. Thanks Bob.
High school heartache, lust, sweetness and danger in a parked car. Going to college ruined all that, the bed in your room and all. Fogging up the windows and grasping at your remaining youth, we'll never have that again. Thank you, Mr. Seger, for your musical poetry. Forever a fan.
You said it perfectly.

YES! Good music never goes out of style!
The world
It's always time for good music... All these years, and it's still some of the best.
Some years ago I was driving home late at night and this song was playing on the radio. I was on 270 east going around Columbus Ohio and a semi was merging onto the road. The semi was purple and written across it were the words "Night Moves", what a coincidence. That was a very special moment for me.
Nice! Here's sharing another one of those ultra rare experiences in life: sitting smoking with a few friends one evening in Redondo Beach, California. Suddenly there was a knocking on the front door. As we sat up, dazed in a fog and our eyes turned toward the door, Pink Floyd's "Is there anyone out there" was playing on the radio. Another friend stopping by to hang in the gathering of youthful peers on one of those hedonistic evenings in the south land. We were in our summer years, and autumn was far beyond our horizon. We didn't see it coming.
I was on that highway 270 that same night. I was driving my semi. I was in Columbus Ohio. I think I saw you. Unfortunately, it wasn't me. Mommy had just tucked me into bed. Lol
My grandpa drove a purple semi years ago before he was killed. We were in hillsboro ohio though
WOW!
I'm 16 and wish I could just go back in time to see what it was really like in the 50s-90s. seemed like a fun time.
oh was it ever. I was born in 61 and I loved the 60's and 70's
@@SoCalAl61 Id love to be my fathers age. Born in 49. Teens & 20s in the 60s & 70s!
60s 70s 80s , were Awesome for music and yeah there were problems , but I still swap places in a heartbeat to get back to those times .
omg same
you can never go back - but I started in the '50s with black blues and Jerry lee - and all the way up through Rod and the Stones and then Pearl Jam (with my son) No you can't go back - but then who thought vinyl would come back. lol.
Felt the lightning, waited on the thunder
Love Bob Seger . Would love to see him in concert.
Bob Seger touched everyone with his music. His songs are so relatable, about the experiences of life, about love, about growing up. Rock n’ Roll never forgets, Rock n’ Roll forever ❤.
👍😊👍 Hell YEAH!
P.S. I am a Jagoff from the NORTH SIDE. Luv the BLACK & GOLD (Even IF my Buccos, Stillers 'n Pens ain't the best right now, I'm always with 'em!)
For real, for all shit we Pittsburghers poke at Detroit, Cleveland and places like that, We often forget that we ARE all "Cut from the same cloth". Bob Seger's (Detroit) music is more relatable to a Pittsburgher than ANYTHING from a New York or EVEN a Philadelphia singer/band. No one here WANTS to admit it, But Pittsburgh is more "Ohio" than "Pennsylvania" And as a Jagoff born on 46th Street in the actual City of Pittsburgh, I'm Okay with that.
Ramblin Gamblin Man!
One of the very best! An American musical hero!
The first time I ever heard this song was when I was a teenager. I was in a diner with my grandparents in Tucson and I hear the sound of amazing talent and great music. I still wake up in the middle of the night and wonder, but no more thunder. If you're here to listen to this song then remember that rock and roll never forgets. Keep living, keep dreaming, and don't forget to sit and wonder sometimes because the days and the nights will happen regardless.
Perfectly said Friend
Hi
Well said...Joe beat me to it, but definitely well said.
Some of Bob's best Lyrics there, You put together.

Hello Marsh!
Thank you for being an amazing fan.
Comments like this are priceless, Thank you,
it's nice meeting you here.
Thank you very much SUPERNATURAL 🎉
Bob seger spoke to the 70,80 and 90s generation! He wrote songs and music for the common blue collar man and he spoke to us. To the kids in the back seat of a steamed up car trying to figure out what base to go for next. The kids work out in the heat and dust trying to get enough for that car or truck and saving for the weekend. He also told us a story about being on the road and how hard it was. The loves that was lost and found. Today music will never touch a piece of our hearts like this man did. He put out teenage and young adults years into songs. So 20 years down the road you put it on and dirft back to a simpler time and relive the best and carefree years of life. The newer generation will never have the experience of seeing alto reed swing from the rafters in cincinnati Ohio playing the sax.
except this song was written about him cheating on a married woman whos husband was away at service. he was a jody. really crazy i know, he talks about it on his behind the scenes interview. has nothing to do with highschool as many people suspected. he also dodged the draft to shag other peoples wives. oh and this song was inspired by american graffiti which he saw before writing it.
You wish, you were in theback seat, but with an issue of Playboy spanking your monkey wishing you had a Girl.LOL
Fully agree!
So perfectly said!❤
Nor will they care to be honest
I love Bob Seger and his music. When you are young you think you got all the time in the world 🌎. Then you turn around and 21 has turned to 50. Bob,you nailed it with this song 🎵.
Love love the memories this brings rushing back
One of the greatest songs ever written about teenage “love.”
I had a candy apple red ‘67 Chevelle as a kid, I use to crank this song up while cruising Speedway in ‘82, I was only 16, other than the ‘50s, i believe The ‘80s may have been as good….
Out on the backseat of my brother's 67 Chevy
Sam and Dean Winchester I never regret having watched a single chapter of such a piece of art
My 72 nova..
Haha I just watched that episode
🌽
What a timeless classic! I love this song!
Alright!!
I discovered this song through the Supernaural series.
I watched it for years with my mother.
In the year 2022 my mother died.
Every time I hear this song now I'm reminded of how much fun we had together watching the series.
Thanks.
Miss you, mom.
Same, but my mom passed in 2021. I'm watching Supernatural again ✨️ and it just reminds me of my mom 😢 we always watched it together. 🥺🥹😔
Last time I saw Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet band was in Houston in the 90's. Still have the concert T-shirt locked away in a suitcase with others, and it looks like brand new. Was standing in the restroom line when one guy who was at the urinal looked behind him then to an obvious friend who was at the urinal next to him, and asked "Do you think all these people know Bob Seger"? To which the friend looked behind him and laughed, and said "There's no one in this place that's under 35"! To which the entire restroom busted out laughing! Never forget that moment, priceless.
This is like an injection of good HS memories...coming of age I'll not forget and Seeger captures it perfectly.
@Bobseger-wh3oo None other than you.
@Bobseger-wh3oo So who are you pretending to be next week "bob?" Shouldn't you be busy rehearsing? Ya know, workin and practicing.
Every time I hear that thunder in the middle of the night in the summer I think of this song and play it. The same went for last night on the last summer night of 2024, a big storm blew through. Just love hearing that rumbling in the distance getting closer. Song never gets old.
I heard this sing when I was 29 and still, I fully appreciated the sentiment and the lost naivete of youth. At age 76, it rings even stronger, One of Seger's greatest.
Love ❤ it
The bestt ❤❤❤😅
Man, this song is like gospel.
It was just after the Bob Seger show in Denver in '18 that I asked my Wife Cheryl to marry me ... it was a wonderful inspiration and I used some of my 'night moves' - we just had our first anniversary!!! Thank You again Bob Seger!!!!
Congratulations!
Magnificent song.
Another Amazing Detroit Legend! 😜
Thanks for your love and support, may God continue to bless and protect you ❤
I listened to this album as a young apprentice boilermaker- booming across the Western United States from the Puget Sound to the Rio Grande. Blasting Warren on my stereo as I rolled into the parking lots of a string of power plants and copper mines. My hardhat had a great cartoon of myself as “The Excitable Boy” on it. Goddamn, those were some great times in my life. My kids don’t believe how wild those days were.
This MAN... Chills everytime
Ain't it funny how the night moves, when you just don't seem to have as much to loose, strange how the night moves. That touches my soul. Memories of being young. Thank you Bob for the awesome tunes
