I first heard STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT in Indonesian's first amateur radio called EL SHINTA in1967, I was a teenager back then. That's when I feel in love with Bert's music. I bought his Stranger in the Night (and other tunes) in the form of CD in 1991 and still keep it with me. I like this video Bert Kaempfert-The Last Year.It brought tears to my eye.Thanx for posting it. To me Bert is immortal. Best regards from Jakarta,INDONESIA..
We were very young when Berts Records started coming into our Home. My Dad had caught his show in Germany while Bert was a POW of War. I remember Dad saying he would make it big, And he was right he Did. he'll alwasy be Number one with me, RIP Bert Kaempfert

During the middle seventies I was a mere 7 year old kid. My mother would play very loudly Engelbert Humperdinck records and his voice was just so powerful and everywhere! That ‘68 A Man Without Love record had Wonderland By Night on it and I remember hearing it often. Needless to say, I found out later that Bert was the actual author of the tune. I was opening up and researching him years later. The man had CHARISMA.
Had he not died when he did, I wonder if he would have agreed to tour the U.S. with his big orchestra. He had a big following over here in the states back then.

He lived a short life but left a legacy of beautiful music. He lives on....
The more I listen to Bert and his orchestra, the more I like..... One of the greats.
