      I'm sorry, I'm getting at my wits end with this Esab model I've had for a few yrs. But- I can't decide which one model 2700 or 2200. The various gun liners that fronius sells with these to 0.035, 0.045 etc. Is there a separate linear that I have to swap out/purchase between aluminum and mild steel set up, is there one linear that works for both between feeding 0.30 to 0.045 and whichever alloy ? Thank you for your time

    • @chris_b_liven
      @chris_b_liven  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      George Hindley I suggest ordering the 1/16 liner, .052 tips and .045 drive wheels and weld with 3/64 aluminum wire. You can weld all the way down to .060 plate thickness. Then swap the liner each time you want to weld aluminum as it will eliminate cross contamination

    Good job Chris on the demo of a GREAT machine. The technology in the new welding machines is amazing. They are a long way from the old 350lb transformer stick only machines. Back in the day they were state of the art.

I've tried numerous times to make the settings on my TransSteel 2700 and my machine will not allow me to make the adjustments your making. • @Migman2020

    Chris the thing with spray is if you going to do it then you have to do it correctly otherwise its almost pointless at times.. The fact that you getting spatter indicates that you are not actually in a spray because of your gas mix.. you need a narrow penetrating arc for spray to work correctly.. theres two arcs in spray believe it or not.. one fans out and super heats the surround base material.. the 2nd is the one with the punch and that punches right into the root of the parts you welding.. hence the good penetration.. you may well do get decent penetration of what you doing now but its wont be anywhere near as good as it could be. Spray is a hiss with a very slight crackle to it but you should be getting no spatter at all and spray is always done in a push due to how the arc behaves.. hope this helps from your fellow fronius user..

      @@chris_b_liven I don't use a dedicated gas for spray my self.. i use a 83/15/02 mix as it works on almost anything.. i just have to up the voltage higher than normal to exceed the transition phase for a true spray.. luckily that is easily done as i can go upto 45v on my 3500c

We've all gotten 2nd degree burns from pulsing, my son spent almost 2 weeks hibernating in his room from flash burn (his helmet on 10 darkness). My machinist looked like cooked bacon and it ruined my welding table pulsing black bubble streaks through the cracks of everything we welded. Yea. I need a roll around unit. My remote feeder is nice but it's a hassle to drag the lead, the control cables, the optima control, and the inert gas hose all together around the shop. I'd rather have a little roll around unit with just a main to drag. Is it the full 270 amp on single phase in mig or is it cut back too?. I know my miller's will run full bore 400 amp on the dynasty and 425 and on the xmt but the duty cycle suffers. The dynasty is 15% full bore 400 amp on single phase which doesn't bother me any as I tig only with it.

      @@sledsports Yes, the TransSteel 2700 is lowered down to 220/230 amps single phase MIG. If you need that much amperage a rotary phase converter would be a perfect pair. It would depend on how much amperage you need
