  • Guitar Center's Product Spotlight provides a comprehensive overview of the Fender Bassbreaker 15.
    Supercharged with a plethora of flexible features, the Bassbreaker 15 is a top-notch performer for stage or studio. This chameleon-like amp creates its magic with a trio of 12AX7 preamp tubes feeding into two EL84 power tubes for 15 watts of tight, modern tone. The three-position Gain Structure switch gives the amp three distinct boutique voices, ranging from mild to wild. They're all tasty and touch-sensitive without masking the character of the guitar.

    Again, Rick, thank you for consistently professional vids. You get to the facts, show the things that prospective buyers want to see and hear, and that's a perfect combination. I turn off the "Bozo wrestles Jimi Hendrix" vids instantly. because I tire of trying to glean any useful information that might come through while someone stops to look for his sock. Thank you for what you do. It is always refreshing and you cover all the bases. Very grateful to you.

    Did he just say "High Gain Metal"? He said it with such authority. He looked hard into the camera to assert truth.

    • @bradcarroll3719
      @bradcarroll3719 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      He had to do that to keep from laughing, because we all know that you're not going to get Metal tones out of this amp, although it's by FAR the closest Fender has come. It seems like a good "brother" to the Hot Rod series, these being for the more hard rock crowd, and the Hot Rods/blues deluxe more for the blues/blues rock oriented players.

      +chekunzy sin I could barely understand a word of what you said, I'm hoping it's because English isn't your native language.. but this particular amps 3rd gain stage is exactly geared towards metal and heavier style music.. it's actually written by fender on the top cover of the amp if you demo the amp new in store.. so you really shouldn't be so adament about fender's intention with this amp unless you actually know what you're talking about

    I have owned one for close to a year. Totally great amp. The original had noise in the effects loop. Fender paid my amp tech $140 US to fix it under warranty and now it is really nice. Fender's five year warranty is bulletproof.

  • @noternunstoned
    @noternunstoned ปีที่แล้ว

    It would be nice if they could have put the gain structure knob on a footswitch, even 3 positions.
    For live or jams you could have clean/crunch and OD.
    This makes the amp in live/gigging settings more of a clean only with pedals or between crunch and/or Distortion.
    It sounds quite a bit like my 22 watt Supersonic 22 except the reverb which is digital.

  • @napalmhardcore
    @napalmhardcore 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    How does that gain structure switch work? Is this an all tube amp or is it similar to the Blackstar HT series?
    The Bassbreaker series is a little strange. Every amp in the series is completely different. I kind of liked the idea of the 007 combo, but the 10 inch speaker makes it a no go for me. The lack of effects loop and reverb also make it very limited in terms of versatility, same goes for the 18/30 and 45.
    The 15 is the most attractive prospect of the bunch, but I'd like to know if it is all tube. I already own a Blackstar HT-20 and I was told that the HT series amps don't respond as an all tube amp does when used with pedals, so I want something all tube to stick some pedals in front of.

    • @letsgooo1637
      @letsgooo1637 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      really you're going to LOVE your amp with pedals. don't just go around listening to those tone chasers too much or you'll get lost

    • @napalmhardcore
      @napalmhardcore 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reassurance. I must admit, I've been doing most of my playing through a Zoom pedal with headphones recently. My circumstances don't allow me to make much noise. Even what many consider bedroom level is a bit loud as it is a tiny room and the environment outside reflects sound and my neighbours are pretty fussy (our house is adjoined).
      My friend has a practice shed which I can use, but lugging a 2x12 cab (wish I'd gone for the 1x12) and the head makes it a bit of a chore, so the idea of a 1x12 combo is pretty appealing. At the moment I don't have a lot of cash but when I have some this amp is definitely a contender.

    • @letsgooo1637
      @letsgooo1637 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      tbh the bassbreaker 7 watts from fender is probably EXACTLY what you're looking for. i play with the loudest drummer ever and have no problems jamming. for anything louder you'll have a PA. if you don't like the 10 speaker gef the head and a nice 1X12 cab

    • @napalmhardcore
      @napalmhardcore 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been toying with a few ideas. I'm quite keen on the idea of a combo just due to them being relatively compact and easy to transport.
      I'm a little torn about what direction I want to go in. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a simple single channel amp like the Marshall Class 5 (I wish they'd do a 12" speaker combo), but then I start thinking it might lack a bit of versatility (no effects loop, reverb etc) for if I wanted to experiment a bit.

    • @letsgooo1637
      @letsgooo1637 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +napalmhardcore well depending on what style of music you are playing you could go blues jr/hot rod deluxe or Vox AC15 for the classic vibtage tones or Orange TH30 or Blackstar HT club 40 for the more modern sound. tho all of these amps are very versatile. but i get what you're looking for, i am looking for the exact same thing right now. ANY of these choices would fullfill your needs dont forget the bassbreaker

      Many do nowdays

    • @T00DEEPBLUE
      @T00DEEPBLUE 8 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      +Wallace Carey It isn't as simple as just adding an 1/8" output jack to the end of the preamp. There's a couple of technical reasons most tube amps don't have them.
      The power section and the speaker cabinet (and speakers) all contribute dramatically to the guitar's tone. So while you can do it, it'll sound like shit. Unless of course the amp uses digital modelling software to emulate the sound of the power section and the cabinet through headphones, but it never sounds very convincing. There's too many factors outside the control of the digital modelling software, such as the acoustic properties of the room you're in that all dramatically affect how we perceive sound, for any emulation to sound like the way the amp does in the room.
      Not to mention that tube-driven amplifiers need to be run under a load or else the amp's transformers will blow up. This load is derived from the speakers. If the speakers aren't being driven because you're playing the amp through headphones, you're going to blow the transformer up. It requires that the amp comes with a dummy load to take the current that the transformers are kicking out while the headphones are in use, which ramps up the cost of these amps significantly.
